While I see your point, OU can be an incredibly streaky team. If they suddenly catch fire from three in the MACC who knows what can happen. That's what scares me about the MACC and why I think winning out would be so huge for us.

He came in, picked up two quick fouls and never saw the floor again. I think this comes back to the previous discussion of KD having the option to play the hot hand. Last night McAdams got most of the minutes that Gilliam usually gets.
-
That was way too much fun. Great effort from the Zips. Loved the different looks they threw at Cooper. Harney was on him most of the second half. Even saw Tree on him at one point. Besides the regulars, great to see McAdams hit some huge threes.

I have a ticket for the game. My dad had to back out at the last minute. Shoot me a PM.

OU should be well rested because their game tonight has been cancelled. There was an armed robbery near campus, so it was shut down and the game tonight has been cancelled. If Akron shut down campus every time there was an armed robbery half the classes would be cancelled.

Don't feed the troll folks...

When I first saw the jerseys, I wasn't crazy about the idea. After seeing the attention that it's getting from across the nation, I now think the marketing department is freaking brilliant. They're even sending out jerseys to national and local media members who follow basketball with their twitter handles on the back. Very, very cool promotional campaign. Marketing Department:

I like the look! Yeah, I definitely misinterpreted the "#", but with it being social media night it wasn't too much of a stretch!
-
Just a theory from a couple pieces I've put together. First, UA said they were going to be unveiling what's on the chest of the jersey then @MommaZeke replied Is there a possibility a hashtag is involved with the jersey? Next Saturday is social media night...

Congrats to Chauncey on 1,000 career points

Pretty sure Walsh is only a Junior. Congrats to Chauncey! -
Anyone have any good suggestions for IPAs? Looking to widen my IPA palette. My favorites have to be Dogfish Head 60 & 90 as well as Sierra Nevada Torpedo. GLBC Commodore Perry, Harpoon, Goose Island, & Frankenmuth are a few others I've tried that I like, but just don't blow me away. Been enjoying reading through these threads!

Yeah, I tried to look him up on google. Found pretty much nothing.

I understand the clique thing being unintentional. Just think it's something for the die hard rowdies to keep in mind if they want to make people feel more welcome. A big thank you to CinciZip and headaviatorrowdie. I really respect what both of you guys do and I think the rowdies are heading in the right direction. It's not like there's a solution that will automatically make 1,500 screaming students to show up to games. It's a process, and unfortunately our arena layout isn't helping things either.

I'll throw in my two-cents. I just graduated from the UA, so I think I can bring the student perspective. I've been a member of the ROWDIES, but have never been part of the "in" group. I went to all the soccer matches and probably 70% of the basketball games. Here's a few points to think about: 1. The ROWDIES who show up regularly are amazing fans. Always vocal and at all the games. That deserves acknowledgment and praise. 2. All this talk of the harm the rowdies have done for student attendance, but I bet you if you got rid of them attendance would drop. They do a good job marketing the teams. 3. There definitely has been a "clique" feel to the group. This can tend to alienate new members. I'm sure it's not intentional, but it's something to be aware of. 4. Here's been my biggest problem with the rowdies in the past: Taking a friend to sit in the baseline seats is not a good idea if they are a casual fan. My one buddy is not a big basketball fan, so he doesn't get into the games too much. He'll come out to a couple games a year, but he's not that into the games and there's nothing wrong with that. He's vocal in big situations, but isn't one of those people that yells the whole game. While sitting with the rowdies he's had other members yell at him for not getting into the game enough. That is not going to get anyone to come back to the games. In fact, it makes me not want to sit down there as well. 5. As to the students up above not getting into the game, I think that one solution would be to have a couple games where the rowdies intersperse in the upper level student seating and try to lead by example. When you have a bunch of people sitting on their hands around you, it's going to make it intimidating to get loud. By having some rowdies up there, we can eliminate this problem. Just a couple thoughts for the ROWDIES to consider. Overall, I think the ROWDIES do a great job.

Love the way this team can win inside and not rely on the 3 ball. Not sure if the statistics back me up, but it seem like we've been pretty awful in this category this year. If the Zips can get hot from deep in March and combine that with our inside game LOOK OUT! Edit: Shooting a bit above 34% from deep on the year as a team.
-
You don't have to be a member of the ROWDIES to sit down low this year. Just have to be a student.

Stepping back from my pro-Zips bias, these refs were horrible both ways.

Akron Zips Lebron James Bobble Head Night

If he donated enough money, I'd be fine with naming the gym after him. -
first part of Q&A with Caleb Porter

Hey Yaz, we all know you run the account. Why don't you just fess up already/ -
Well, well. Look who his academy coach is. Jared Embick. haha
-
Incredible turn out tonight for the Thank You Caleb event. Seeing Proenza get choked up was probably the moment of the night. We're losing a great man here in Akron. Also telling was seeing the players who came back to say thank you. Zakuani, Nagbe, Ampai, Korb, and Kofi all returned for the evening.

 This was outstanding. Sums up my thoughts perfectly. Let's hope Embick can carry on this model successfully. -

Gavin is available as well. I'm thinking an all UA starting XI within a few years. haha -
Does this mean Gallego is as good as gone? Or could Porter advise him to stay in school?
-
Wonder how much Gallego had to do with this signing? I would guess quite a bit. They're both NYRB products as well as NJ natives.
