  1. Koroma has not impressed me. Looks really immature. Puts his head down and tries to do it all on his own. Yedlin seems off tonight as well. If I was Porter, I'd move Serna up into the MF. We need a creative guy in the midfield. Maybe pull Koroma and put in Souders or Fives to play LB.
  2. I actually saw him on the third floor of the Student Union this afternoon!
  3. I don't pretend to know all the other coaches around the country and who is available, but I don't think it's enough to go out and get a coach who will win. We also need to get a coach who will play an attractive brand of soccer while doing so. That's why I like the idea of promoting Embick. I'm sure he's ingrained in the Porter philosophy. Sell that style of soccer and the recruits will still want to come to Akron.
  4. I think that will remain to be seen. Probably depends on the individual player a bit too. My guess would be that we'll come out flat this Friday at Creighton, but in a week or two this whole thing will blow over and the guys will just focus on the game. Of course, this is all assuming he stays for the remainder of the season.
  5. I'm not sure how to link to individual tweets, but @travismclark of Top Drawer Soccer tweeted that he heard Porter was going to finish the season at Akron. I inquired about it a bit farther and he said he had it on good authority. Ian Tayek (@Bigchief_WZIP), former ROWDIES president who has a ton of connections with Zips athletics tweeted back at Travis Clark that he was correct. Fingers crossed that this is correct.
  6. Koroma: "I decided to come to Akron because they play sexy soccer and I kinda love that." Awesome!
  7. Don't get me started on this one. That love-fest last September made me sick! It's a joke that guy is going to get a statue before other greats like Larry Doby.
  8. A-Rod was traded. That example doesn't apply. Besides, you can't compare superstars joining forces to get rings in baseball as opposed to basketball. Basketball much more of an individual sport where one superstar can carry a team to a large part. Then rivalries are built off those superstar's teams going head to head. To see the NBA become a league where superstars want to join each other instead of beating each other is what has really turned me off to the league. I've gotten over my hate of LeBron. I was rooting against the Heat though due to the principle I just outlined. That said, I didn't watch 5 minutes of the playoffs.
  9. Porter was handed a tough job. His attacking players played well and played Porter soccer, but the defensive guys he was given played poorly. Not much depth at that position. Opara was awful and Kitchen's poor clearance led to the second goal yesterday.
  10. <--- Pretty much says it all. This one hurt!
  11. Exactly. I hate OSU, but have no hard feelings towards the Aeros. They're running a business. This makes a lot of business sense for them.
  12. I started out the game pulling for the OU upset, but when push came to shove I remembered how much I can't stand the Bobkitties. Very glad UNC pulled through.
  13. This headline made me laugh. Mattocks sidelined after suffering burns in cooking mishap
  14. Thanks for that information! I'm definitely going that route then.
  15. I like the cheap price, but I want to be with fellow Zips fans, not stuck behind a basket in no man's land. I went to order $27 tickets today, and for 2 tickets the service fee came to $25 online. That's insane!!
  16. +1 and +1 to everyone else's comments. Me and a buddy were discussing this on the way to the Q and during the game. With a team full of thugs, Greene is the one guy I have immense respect for. Good luck to Mr. Greene in the future!
  17. 92.3 looked at this topic earlier this week. However, they were wondering why it is, and said it would be great if a NE Ohio team could step out of OSU's shadow. It was a pretty great discussion and the best part was that Baskin and Phelps, both Can't grads, both thought that the Zips were the likely team to be able to do so. They were ripping on the Can't administration for not taking advantage of the Elite 8 run and said that if that had been the Zips, we would have capitalized on that and become the next Gonzaga.
  18. There's enough to be negative about tonight, so I'll throw out one of the positives I've been noticing over the past month. Abreu doesn't take a lot of threes, but is it just me or is everyone he hits clutch? It seems like he only hits them when the Zips are desperate for a bucket. I loved the way he played tonight.
  19. Good article about how the Zips need to step it up on defense. More Than a Fan
  20. You're correct on this one Yaz. Did some quick research on last year's Senior game against UB. Here's the box score: ESPN Box Score
  21. I've seen the Zips do this before once when I showed up an hour before the game for the Can't game.
  22. OU lives and dies by the three ball. If they're on like they were tonight, they're incredibly dangerous. I'd prefer not to run into them at the MAC tourney...
  23. So frustrating. Thinking positively is tough now, but here goes. Despite only having one MAC loss, the Zips have coasted through most of their games. Often this means they have to go really hard the second half to win it. Hopefully, this kick in the teeth serves as a wake up call to the guys and they take this lesson into the tourney and win 2 in Cleveland to go dancing. That said, I'm going to knock out some homework in the second half...
  24. Looked away for a second to send a text after Abreu's layup. What prompted the T?
