LeBron has a shirt waiting for him Tuesday night. Word is he is skipping the trip to Portland to be at the Zips game.
-
You're horning in on Zipmeister's territory there, Z5.
-
Well Dave, I have started to compose a response to you about a dozen times and deleted it to start over. That probably means it's time to just shut up. Everything that I have ever stated in this forum springs from the love for my University and my sincere wishes that good things happen for her.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Kyle. That's usually what a coach says when a backup comes in and plays lights out and casts doubt on who the starter really should be. That is clearly not the case here. I could see Urban Meyer saying something like this about Braxton Miller in light of how JT Barrett has performed.
-
C'mon, Dave. You're better than that. First of all, you know the definition of conspiracy and you know that no one was talking about a secret cabal of power brokers getting their heads together to hatch a devious plot to keep Kyle Pohl out of the game.
-
If true, this is proof of the power of prayer.

Nice comment from Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba: I personally hate Akron more than any MAC school. Kill zippy.

You are the man clamoring for facts. I just thought it was ironic that you miss no opportunity to interject your opinion whenever the topic of Bowden's length of tenure will be at UA. I guess it is ok for you to have your opinion about Terry finishing out his career here. Unfortunately, you do not extend the same courtesy for stating opinion that others extend to you.
-
Ironic statements for someone who is always banging a drum about a hunch.

I don't know Doc, but my wife asked me if I wanted to go to a watch party at one of the downtown bars tomorrow. That makes me think it's going to be fairly huge if my wife is suggesting that on a Thursday night.
-
I'm not discussing this any more. We have a divide on this board and until someone from the staff is forthcoming about our quarterback situation, all discussion is mere conjecture. It is a shame that the feel-good 2014 season has been derailed and that our discourse has devolved into anger and combativeness between fans of the same team.
-
So you actually think that Bowden was asked a question about putting Kyle in the game and he answered the way he did instead of simply saying that he was not ready to go medically or that they were exercising extra caution with a head injury? You have drank the Kool-Aid. I guess the answer will come out in good time and I am perfectly willing to admit I am wrong at any time, but something certainly smells fishy here.
-
One simple question: Why did he make the "unfair" statement if he was holding Kyle out for a head injury? Please explain that to me.
-
The Tribune's report seems to be at odds with the "It really wasn't fair to him" statement.
-
Yep. I took it the other way. I figured Hilltopper had a little bit of the old "inside information".
-
You can't talk about this game without talking about the QB situation. Until there is some real information shared there is nothing to talk about.

First of all let me say that when Ball State says the tailgating lots open 3 hours before the game that's what they mean. We couldn't get in until 11 A.M. When we entered, they parked us at the opposite end as the rest of our fans, so we actually had to exit the lot, go around the block and enter from the other side. Once we finally got through the initial hassle, we had a pretty darn nice tailgate. Ball State had an impressive group of people set up. The best I have ever seen at a MAC game. A lot of them must have stayed in the lot because the crowd in the stadium did not reflect the tailgating action. There was a nice mix of students and alumni comingling with each other. The local radio station was there with their mobile studio broadcasting "Ball State Live". Overall great atmosphere. We were quite impressed and envious. My thoughts and prayers to Dan's family. I hope you find peace.

That's why I come here to vent.

I have been concerned with the offense for the last 20 games not just the last 2. I am extremely pissed right now because a golden opportunity just slipped through the Zips fingers. The team should be 6-2. Period. I just can't believe that it is on the kids that the offense can't perform like they should. I don't want to believe it. I think if the coaching staff stopped pulling back on the reins we could consistently score over 30 a game. Perhaps GP1 is correct and that's what the staff wants to do but they don't have a QB to run "Bowden Ball". But again, I don't want to believe that. The staff watched Kyle Pohl in practice through 11 games in 2012 before the handed the team to him after the first series in Toledo. If the staff had their reservations about Kyle's ability or that the offense would have to be dumbed down for him and still took Dalton out of the game. . .Well that's unconscionable to me. First of all because that was a winnable game and second of all that kept Dalton's name off the top of the heap for single season passing yards. (Yes, I love Dalton Williams.) Again, I don't want to believe that scenario is true. What I do believe, and I have no solid proof of this, is that we have fallen victim to the old "Defense Wins Championships" bullshit. Three yards and a cloud of dust is out the window. Back when teams lined up against each other and decided who could kick whose ass in tight formations, defense could win you the game. Not now. Offenses are way too sophisticated and they can not be shut down very often unless it's a total mismatch. In today's game, your defense needs to be good enough to get off the field so the offense can score again. Akron's defense is good enough to do this multiple times a game. You can have a good defense and still give up 30 points these days. Scoring is the name of the game. We are fooling ourselves if we think we can leave it in the hands of the defense, but it seems like that is what the staff is content to do. Another thing. Just because guys are getting on here and blowing off steam doesn't mean they are fair weather fans. Losing sucks. Show me someone who thinks losing is acceptable and I will show you a loser. It ain't all sunshine and lollipops after 2 bitter losses for me. Wish it were so. It's also not an unforgivable sin to question the coaching staff. I realize local media gives our coaches a free pass on everything, but if the Zips were in a power conference the talking heads would be all over the implosion of the last 2 weeks. It's not a bad thing to question the coaching decisions. That's what happens in big-boy athletics. No one here is calling for Bowden's head other than one tongue-in-cheek reference. Why is it that we turn on each other so much? there aren't enough of us to be at each other's throats all the time. I am sorry if I pissed anyone off. Just trying to get some points across.
-
I don't know if you are talking to me or not, but I am not blaming the defense for this loss. I just understand that in college football it is completely unrealistic to think your defense is going to win games for you. If the defense could do that, we'd be 6-2 right now. The best way the offense can help the defense is by scoring points, not by milking clock and playing not to lose.

I was never on any bandwagon and I'm not jumping anywhere. I will attend 11 of 12 games this year. I'm just not going to make the trip to Buffalo.
-
Except it doesn't. See last two games. Ohio & Ball State ain't exactly Oregon & Baylor.
-
As we were driving back from Muncie, I told my wife "I'm Zipped out". These 2 bad losses really took it out of me. I had planned on going to all 12 games this year, but Buffalo is officially scratched now.
