  1. Sounds like a good get to me! Nice job!
  2. I'll have you know that out in PA they refer to East Stroudsburg as Linebacker U. Lite.
  3. I tried some New Belgium Snow Day Winter Ale on tap while dining in Richmond, VA last night. I don't know if it is distributed in Ohio. Recommend. LINK Also had some Brown Ale from Legend. Nothing special, but worth a quaff if you get around the area. LINK
  4. My father-in-law is a Miami grad, but I say..."2 tears in a bucket"
  5. Down go the Flashes Fallen and they can't get up Long season for Can't
  6. For those who may have missed it, for your reading pleasure...Flash Fanatics Akron game thread. How quickly the thread changes from To Love it.
  7. Keep on doing it, Harney!
  8. No, I haven't, but I take it made the "K.Y.S.O" list? I will have to pick it up next time I see it. It comes in a 4 pack with the little goat charms, right? @AK RAUDI I have only tried the Nut Brown and Taddy Porter from Sam Smith, but I thought both of those were best of class. There appears to be a couple of chinks in the armor of Great Lakes Christmas Ale's stranglehold of "best xmas ale". R4R44 and AK RAUDI are proclaiming the supremacy of JBA and I heard a few rumblings from others (not just UAZIPSMAN) who preferred 12 Dogs. Very interesting!
  9. Ok. One R rated one... Beat those see oh see K*S*U* see kay E are Ess this Saturday
  10. Fear the dadgum roo Zeke, Harney, Tree, Abreu Waiting to slay you You made me chuckle You crying on the hardwood Back to k.e.n.t you loser Can't beat the Zippers Can't avoid the police log Can't win the MAC East
  11. Saw a new label today in the singles section, so I bought one to try. Nice English Pale Ale here. Nothing special about it. Smooth drinking. Recommend. Speaking of brew from Great Britain... Have you ever been a fan of a certain style, then tried a certain brand that just KNOCKED YOUR SOCKS OFF? Happened to me last weekend. I have been liking porters more and more recently and thought I had a pretty good idea of what to expect when trying a label new to me. Then I tried a Samuel Smith Taddy. Wow. Perfection. I could picture myself diddy bopping into an English pub with this on tap and quaffing down about 10 pints. It is that good.
  12. This made my day!
  13. There are lots of ways to promote UA that would be of minimal cost. When I went to Wal-Mart today, Tuffy the Eagle was the greeter. If Ashland College, I mean University can do things like this why...Aw, forget it.
  14. I don't know if the BBQ is up to NC standards, but I give them their propers for serving Cheerwine. Love that stuff.
  15. I agree with you, JZ84. It is cool to be talking tailgating on January 15. The bottled beer variety was a real high point last year. If we are in consensus that we should do that again, I am going to have to start cellaring some seasonals in preparation.
  16. Boy, that didn't take long. Just got a p.m. Of course, you do relaize that you are in violation of state law and university regulations by bringing beer into Lot 9/on campus. Not trying to be a prude but UA police and city police can choose to look the other way or not. Personally I think it risky especially if I wasn't being descrete about consuming beer in any of the parking lots. You bring a keg and you'd better be prepared to hide the keg. You can't always trust the cops to look the other way, especially if one or two beer drinkers get out of controle. On a better note, UA is looking at providing beer (alcohol) for the entire stadium and not just the luxury section for the 2012 season. Of course patrons will have to be of age and be prepared to prove it. We'll see. I would be delighted if UA did this.
  17. I agree with Coach Bowden on just about everything he has said so far. He seems to know what makes people tick.
  18. 1/6 kegs are definitely the way to go unless you've got a good crew of guys to drain a larger keg. I guess it boils down to sharing. A keg for yourself is not much fun. If you have friends milling around the keg tap it's great. I think that is one of the reasons I liked the contest last year was because of all of the sharing and comparing notes. I actually have the same conundrum about satellite tv. I had planned to upgrade to an HD flatscreen setup last year, but traded my full size van in on a smaller vehicle, so I just did a makeshift setup with older equipment I had in the basement. Same thing applies here. TV is great if there are people constantly checking in and out to see what's going on in the early game. If I am sitting there watching the game by myself, I am missing the party going on all around me. Know what I mean?
  19. I always try to identify some faces in the crowd, but its hard to do when ESPN broadcasts in standard def.
  20. Nope. I'm not a gonna fall for that one. There is no shortage of wonderful barley nectar in lot 9. If UA served in the lots, you couldn't bring your own. Bad idea. Perhaps you are a big draft beer fan, watcher? I would give love to have draft beer in lot 9 if there was a group of guys I could count on to help me drink it. I don't want to go to the expense and hassle of putting in a keg system if I am going to bring home a mostly full keg that only my brother in law and I put a dent in. It's not worth it. I was quite happy with the beer situation last year and the contest to see how many different beers we could drink. However, if we don't do that again, having some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (for example) on tap would be awesome. Thoughts?
  21. Kinda off topic, but didn't want to start a new thread. Bobby Bowden interview. Start listening at 10:30 for a chuckle.
  22. Doesn't TW have a degree in marketing? Surely he buys into the importance of promoting the product. Soooooo, what's the hold up? Lack of funds? If it's lack of ideas, the U could just listen to the ideas floated here at ZN.o. As far as the spring game, I don't know. It is a game for family, die-hards, and the extremely curious. I think the first two are pretty static. How to create a lot of curiosity and interest outside of the first two groups is the challenge, I guess. As far as building excitement for the regular season home games, I think tailgating is central. If you look at the extremely popular football programs, the tailgating scene is out of this world. I briefly talked to George Van Horne about the Akron tailgate culture, or lack thereof, and he expressed real concern to me that the U needed to cultivate that atmosphere to get to the next level. A good tailgate is enough to bring Zips fans back week after week. The Ianello debacle proved that. The pre and post game party was a great time and worthwhile despite the dumpster fire on the field. If UA is ever going to be taken seriously as a legitimate "big boy" football program, not only does the Info need to be packed, so does lot 9.
  23. Thanks to CK, I am a Sriratcha junkie. I feel like I was cheated not finding out about it earlier. It's good on nearly everything except jello shots.
  24. It's never too early to start talking tailgating! Let's get a little roll call going here. Who is going to purchase season tickets? I would urge anyone planning to buy season tickets to contribute to the Z-Fund and request the lot 9 parking pass. Last year was my first year in lot 9 and it was well worth the price. The most lip smackin'est food, delicious craft beer and the greatest Zip fans on the planet is what you will find there. We need to get that lot full and jumping for the 2012 season. I would recommended it to anyone who likes to gave a good time. You will make some great friends. It is my personal mission to be the unofficial 2012 Lot 9 apologist. So, who is leaning in this direction? I am wanting to build me a dadgum tailgate trailer and need to bounce some ideas off y'all.
