  1. I did not know this, but makes my heartrate go up. As a big fan of Mike Leach, I would love to see the Zips run the evolution of his scheme. And JZ84...you said the 3 magic words. FUN TO WATCH!!
  2. Hey Trimmy, remember when I posted about the board getting "kinder and gentler" with the popular hiring of Coach Bowden? I was wrong.
  3. Is there any archived audio online somewhere? I looked but I can't find one. Maybe someone else can find it? While searching, I did see that some schools post their XM interviews on their official websites, so maybe it will show up on gozips.com.
  4. Wow. Sorry Dr., that info would help! Coach was on College Football Playbook on XM 91 today.
  5. Terry was late calling, so Jack and Randy filled airtime taking about Akron, the MAC and the Bowdens. When T-Bow finally got on air you could definitely tell Jack and Terry have a serious mutual man-crush going on. If you missed it, you really missed it. What a great advertisement for the University. Hopefully, since Coach Bowden used to be a co-host, both he and Mike Leach will be regular guests in the future. Great stuff and Jack referred to our previous coach as E-anello, which I figured was probably on purpose.
  6. Good read. I give a lot of credit for the SEC dominance to reason #6.
  7. It's all in the pronunciation, Dave!
  8. I was hoping someone would post a video so I could see it again! Thanks mes! I gotta tell ya, T-Bow got me out of my seat, clapping, smiling, hootin' and a hollerin'. Is there any better way to say hello to Akron than with a heart felt "Go Zips"? This guy has his P.R. skills down tight. I realize all this warm fuzzy feeling won't mean a damn thing if he can't win. The shine will wear off quick if the Zips continue to stink up the field, but what a start! T-Bow has been an unbelievable shot in the arm for a football fanbase that was feeling lower than an ant's belly. People were standing up and cheering him as he made his rounds last night. Great atmosphere and it sure as hell felt good to be a Zip last night.
  9. I thought UMass was competing in the conference as a regular member in 2012 with special restrictions since they were scheduling multiple FCS non-conference opponents. Restrictions being bowl and MACC ineligibility. Are you saying they are not playing a full MAC schedule in 2012?
  10. G-mann, If the conference locked the two of us in a room and told us we couldn't come out until we had divisions set and schedule made, I am confident we wouldn't miss the basketball game tonight.
  11. You said it. As we were listening last night I told my wife the same thing. Personality is important and Bowden has personality. One thing I really liked was how Terry said it was going to take everybody to make the Zips successful. Players, coaches, administration, students & community. I think he is right.
  12. Defense can still win championships if you can recruit enough blue chip prospects that have all the physical tools. That's never going to be the Zips. We need fundamentally sound defenders that play with heart and contest every yard. Even though the Zips defense has been poor, they received no help from our 3 & out offense. I don't know what NFL coach said it, but I denver hearing it as a kid, something like "you can scheme on offense, you need the players on defense". Hopefully T-Bow will scheme well.
  13. Do any of you think that Vince Okruch could be the next defensive coordinator? How would you feel about that? I know it has been discussed in the past with quite a bit of board support, but a lot has changed in the meantime.
  14. French and Dunn touched on this briefly at the press conference...still no decision on how the conference will be split with UMass coming aboard. It is unbelievable how this decision is being dragged out. The SEC made a quick and easy decision where A&M and Missouri were going AND the 2012 schedule is out. It doesn't have to be difficult.
  15. It was only the first press conference but he came so close... “When I go to bed tonight,I’m going to think about how we can win a dad-gum ballgame. We need to win two,one more than last year.”
  16. I listened to the presser on 1350 and I don't know about the resta y'all but I raised my fist in the air when he said that part about the Wagon Wheel.
  17. I am a few days late on this news. Martin gets new gig at Boston College. LINK
  18. Time for my holiday beer report. I found two good places for beer lovers to check out. The first is on Detroit Avenue in Westlake not too far from Crocker Park. Real nice selection here but the best part about this place is the customer service. They ask questions about what you like and make suggestions. They convinced me I would like Denver Pale Ale by Great Divide and they were spot-on. Delicious English Pale Ale! You can check out their website at finewinewestlake. The second place is the Wine Reserve of Medina, right on 18 as you head toward town off 71. They don't have a huge selection here, but a very nice one with some breweries you don't see everyday. Best part about this store is that every 12 ounce beer may be purchased as a single. I made my own 6 pack here and had a couple from breweries that I hadn't tried. I had a RJ Rockers First Snow Winter Warmer and a Cellar Rats Rat Tail Ale. Both good. One you might want to avoid is the Labatt Variety Pack that contains Marzen, Porter, Red Lager and Brown Ale. I took a flier on purchasing this one, hoping it would be a pleasant surprise. It wasn't.
  19. Very impressed with George. Although I have only talked with him on a couple of occasions, he seems like a true ally for Zips fans.
  20. Thanks for the heads up. I caught a little bit of Jack Arute and Randy Cross on XM today talking about the game. Both were very complimentary of both WMU and the MAC as a whole.
  21. Sorry. I was just making a smart ass comment. Guess I should have put the little smiley in there. All the rush to exonerate TW is a little puzzling to me though. No real details have surfaced on the Bowden hire as to TW's level of involvement. It is my guess that T-Bow fell in his lap. I could be wrong and if so, I can eat a little crow on that point. But the bottom line for me is that we had to sit through two years of misery while we watched one of the absolute worst coaches in the history of college football systematically dismantle the the program, alienate almost all the fans and put up the most embarrassing losses in the history of Akron Zips football. TW wears the goat horns for that hire and it will take a big turnaround to me to ever be able to forgive Tom for such a monumental blunder. I am looking forward to T-Bow resurrecting the progrum. Go Zips!
  22. This supposed to be the honeymoon folks. Can we just enjoy the moment without arguing for a sec?
  23. OU Dude, If you continue to post so pleasantly some of us are going to have to take back some of those mean things I er uh I mean we said about OU.
