  1. I just wanted to take the time to give thanks to Akronnnnnnnn for inspiring me to try and cultivate a taste for stout. I have been trying as many as I come across in the singles section and when I have a broader base to report on, I will do so. I will say to anyone who has been turned off to stout because of Guinness...STOP!! I tried Guinness on numerous occasions at bars with friends and never got the taste and naively put all stouts in that basket. Thanks to some of the reviews on here about the style, I decided to branch out and I am happy. There is a lot more to the style than Guinness.
  2. Another former Zip sighting. Anthony Schrock
  3. Braylon Edwards had 252 catches for 3541 yards and 39 touchdowns for Michigan. I'm with akzipper! Hope Phil is nothing like that non-catching bum! Jeeeeeeeeeez.
  4. Here is a game by game list for all MAC schools if anyone is interested. Composite List Some interesting non-conference matchups this year.
  5. Schedule looks good to me. Home games kick off with a Thursday nighter against UCF and then the rest of the home dates are Saturdays. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving night game against Toledo sounds like a good road trip to me. I am pleased. No extremely difficult stretch in the list. I like GP1's optimism with that 6-6 pick.
  6. Looks like we dropped Buffalo and Temple for CMU and BUGS. Original January Release
  7. Yeah.
  8. I was wondering if the Zips offense will be more of the "standard" Hal Mumme/Mike Leach spread, or will we be running any of the Holgorsen evolution with the inverted wishbone formations and what not. Oklahoma State continued to run Holgorsen's variation to great success and West Virginia was really clicking by the end of the season. Not that the Texas Tech offense is boring by any means, but Holgorsen has kicked it up a couple of notches. I am hoping to see a lot of pistol formations in our version of the spread.
  9. I believe this was the other other primary problem:
  10. This could be the gold trinket given to players for beating Can't.
  11. The one thing that jumped out at me was that LR8 continues to stare down one receiver. I like the look of Williams' stature. Only a few plays to look at though. Our new WR ZD11 wide open for a catch on the near sideline! Should that make me happy or sad?
  12. I think someone should champion the cause to start a nationwide fan club with chapters all over the place, something akin to the Browns Backers. We can call ourselves the Zips Zealots. GP1, get it going...I volunteer to do whatever I can for the Ashland/Wayne County chapter.
  13. One writer thinks they should hire a proven winner. Link.
  14. If we have a freshman (Betancourt) coming in who is better than our best player (Abreu), things are looking up for the Zips. I hope CB comes as advertised.
  15. I bet Dr. Proenza snuck in there late at night and hung those posters himself!!
  16. I think you are correct. I fully expect Coach Bowden & Amato to find talent on this roster and play to our strengths, not adhere to a system and pound square pegs into round holes like RI. Rob came close to winning a few games in spite of himself. The competent staff we have now will (((hopefully))) win all the games we should and steal one or two we shouldn't.
  17. NKU is moving up to D-I. A good friend of mine's son is going to play baseball there next year and he told me that all their facilities are very impressive. The basketball arena was the first thing he told me about when they got back from their official visit telling me how great it would be if we could replace the JAR with something like it.
  18. "Things may change at QB when the freshmen get here." ^^^ That ^^^ statement translates as having too high expectations for the freshmen? Really? Wow. But since you brought it up, I am very intrigued by Dan Harding and perhaps my irrational exuberance for the Zippers makes me want to believe he will turn out to be the real deal. I wish Ole Miss all the best and I hope he can make large strides this year. I just haven't seen anything in his performances that make me believe he will. Prove me wrong, LR8!
  19. Things may change at QB when the freshmen get here. I will be surprised if PN7 or LR8 get the starting nod. If either of the incumbents get the position they will have earned it. It is a great time to be a Zip fan. Upgraded my season tix today!
  20. I must say that when GT was announced as the new Zips beat reporter it was panned on this board, but he is proving to be a a great pen. I am an ultimate homer for Zips football, GRANTED, but George's posts have my juices flowing. Best coverage we have had, IMHO.
  21. I had an opportunity to speak with George Van Horne last night and he told me the "Temple Shuffle" is complete and the 2012 football schedule is done. He couldn't elaborate too much since it's not ready to be released yet, but he liked the home games and there is a good conference road game to end the season. Can't wait to see it.
  22. A little piece on the Zips. FOX 8 link
  23. Most of the team quit after the CMU loss. The last 4 games were mailed in. The incredibly stupid coaching decision to go for the win...never mind
  24. You're 2 for 2 this spring, George. Keep up the good work! Glad to hear the coaching change has lit a fire under Jawon Chisholm. It was upsetting to see how he quit near the end of 2011.
