  1. Maybe the floodgates have started to open? Franco commits. Apparently he'll be the only QB in this class which makes sense given the numbers there on the current roster. Nice article.
  2. If the secondary makes big strides this year it will be quite ironic since our former defensive coordinator's claim to fame was coaching the db's and what he left for Michigan to do. I know he wasn't the position coach here but, just sayin.
  3. Ianello seems more relaxed talking to Frenchie and gives better answers.
  4. Wow. 4 year response time. I hope everybody wasn't saying Wooooooooooster for the last 4 years. My wife's family is from Sandusky and that's how they say it, like it rhymes with Brewster.
  5. Thanks for the awful reminder on the stats. It heightens the embarrassment when we're reminded that our only scores were a field goal right as the half ended (when we were down 35-0), and a fumble recovery return. Sorry, Skip. It was definitely a dumpster fire day.
  6. I'm with ya, Big Zip. More blah, blah, blah coach speak. But that kind of answer is kinda par for the course at these type deals. Most coaches do not answer questions at pressers like Steve Spurrier does (shame). I try not to read too much into the rhetoric. Rob will hopefully be better at showing us than telling us this year..
  7. Western Michigan was the lowest point for me last year. Worse than G-W. The Zips defense made their wideouts look like Stallworth and Swann feasting on the first year expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The stats speak for themselves. Hopefully, we have nothing remotely resembling this debacle happen this year.
  8. Bleacher Report chimes in. Actually has us ahead of BG and Buffalo.
  9. Word is that he got a text from the head coach that was inadver...
  10. Who says that he hasnt done a hell of a job as a recruiter? Look at some of the youth that has been added to this team and the promise that they have shown already...1. Jawon Chisholm - looks like he has all-mac talent2. Anthony Holmes - Going to be a very solid db...all mac potential3. Tyler Williams - Is going to be the most explosive player the zips have had in over a decade.4. Antoine Russell - Showed flashes as a true freshman and I think he will be much improved this year.5. Nick Rossi - a top 10 ILB recruit in the nation.6. Keith Sconiers - Another highly touted receiver that looks like the real deal.7. Zack D'Orazio - Another solid athlete that looked damn good in the spring for being a freshman.8. Nico Caponi - Solid D line player as a freshman and played well this spring.9. John Griggs - His video looks like he is a long, lean and explosive pass rusher unlike we have seen at UA in a while.10. Andrew Bohan - Solid and well rated OL that played well in both of the post season all star games against very high talent.11. Clayton Moore - SEC talent that is very intriguing and adds much needed depth to the position.12. Kyle Pohl - Another highly touted young QB that looked the part in the All Star game. While we aren't sure how all of these guys will end up, I have a lot of hope compared to many of the other classes. I see this young talent infusion helping us win a few games this year. Once recruits see the program going in the right direction the sky is the limits. I am excited.8 of those guys haven't played a single down in a college game. According to your list, only four players that Ianello has recruited to the Zips have contributed in a meaningful way despite the team being supposedly so devoid of talent when he took over that you would think that every single incoming freshman would have earned a starting spot. Thanks captain negative. Do you really want me to write a 30 player list? I could have added freshman from last year like ShelDon Miller, Austin Bailey, Jamar Williams or Richard Hall, but I chose to keep the list short and sweet to the ones that I think have the highest ceiling. Is Hall still on the team?No idea. I asked about this on another thread.I saw Richard on campus the summer and spoke with him briefly. Seems like he is on the team.Got gasoline on the way home this evening and picked up the "Official 2011 Ohio State Gridiron Guide", complements of Marathon. Richard Hall is listed on the Zips roster.
  11. Only in retrospect. Most of the Zips fans here were expecting improvement when Ianello took over. We had a promising QB returning in Nicely, two productive senior RBs in Allen and Burney, a solid OL, an all-MAC WR in LaFrance, two great D-linemen in Sewell and Lemon, and Wagner at LB. We were set to have a strong year after injuries caused Brookhart's last year to go south.Nobody expected that Ianello take what looked to be a 5 or 6 win season and simply say "screw it, winning games isn't as important as installing my system."Considering how many senior playmakers we had, Ianello could have designed a two-year transition instead of pulling a U-turn at 90mph. That would have given us a chance to win a few games while bringing up the underclassmen in the system he wanted to eventually have in place. Then this year would be the year Ianello could prove that he is the guy and that his way is the way to build a strong football program, instead of pushing it back to year 3 or 4 like it looks now.Dunno. Looks like last year was a write off to me. We all argued about it last year. Redshirting Chisholm doesn't bother me any. He would have gotten little playing time with 2 seniors. Suel probably makes a little less sense. He would probably gotten some playing time...at least while Jalil Carter was awol for a couple of games there. But whatever. Redshirting those 2 guys makes a lot more sense than burning Dylan Potts' for 2 snaps.
  12. Because last year was a write off.
  13. Took a double take when reading down the list.
  14. We are up to 28 pages now.
  15. I have always maintained that I want to eat crow and see iCoach be successful...even to the extent of us being nationally ranked and winning the MACC every year. My posts are based on nothing more than my lack of confidence in iCoach. As always, prove me wrong.I'm all for eating crow. It would be fantastic if Patrick Nicely would take me to an all-you-can-eat crow buffet. But I am like you, Trimmy. Prove me wrong.Others will never eat crow, though. They will never give Ianello any credit even if he deserves it.
  16. Akron consultant? http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2011/jul/18...mangino-speaks/
  17. First time for me to try and get lot 9 parking. Haven't heard anything as of yet.
  18. Thanks for the links JZ84 and ZTZ. Hopefully, Coach Browning can fast track these newcomers to contribute on the field. That may be a stretch, but we definitely need OL to give a good look in practice if we are going to get better. I really hope a couple of these kids turn out to have a mean streak to go along with their physical skills. Kinda sounds like Folmar might. Cross your fingers.
  19. Zach. Thanks for the laugh, man. Really. I gotta give credit where its due. That is one of the funniest things I have heard in quite some time. Are you laughing at your own lack of reading comprehension? Striving. We may not compete at the top of the football world, but at least the athletics department is trying. To willingly allow ourselves to be pushed down a step on the ladder so that others can benefit is to give up.No Zach, my reading comprehension is just fine. What is hilarious is the biggest football basher on the board somehow threatening to pull his "support". But Zipmeister is right. This post is nowhere near your best. That top spot is probably reserved for the time you said Alabama benefited from being the only D-I program in their state.

  21. A Richard Hall sighting is definitely good news. Thanks for the update, ndzippy.

How am I incorrect on anything? Nick in Cleveland posted his previews on the mac board yesterday with outdated information that is totally irrelevant to any real fan. I guess he was too busy to update his previews. How is it that I am ignorant? You posted a picture that said that I'm full of crap regarding the fact that I pointed out that the write-up was meant for Athlon and was using months-old information. How weren't you incorrect?First of all, Nick posted no disclaimer that he was posting outdated rubbish. To post months old previews is at the least lazy, at the most totally incompetent. What possible utility does a Zip fan get from reading that posting. None. You may also relay to your friend Nick that although he does know more than most about the MAC as a whole, he might want to proofread his documents before he posts them. If someone posted such an inane, irrelevant preview on this board as a novice writing fan it would be laughed at. It serves no purpose. You passed him off as "knowing". That is why I made my statement.

I had the understanding that Hall was gone. Hopefully I am wrong.
