  1. I don't know if anyone caught it, but SiriusXM has been doing their "camp tour". In the Alabama installment they talked to Gehrig Dieter. Great interview. One of the things they talked about was the transition to the simple 20 play, no playbook offense of Dino Babers to the complex, multiple reads on every play, 200 page playbook of Lane Kiffin. If you can catch a replay, it's worth a listen.
  2. Just a little trip down memory lane.
  3. It was on December 29. This happened.
  4. What's wrong with Marcus?
  5. If the Big XII takes 5 teams off that list, they might as well be the AAC. This makes no sense.
  6. This just came up on my facebook feed. Ilo I love Founders. <3
  7. #teamohio lives. From the volleyball Facebook page.
  8. Yes. I found an old article on it. http://www.ohio.com/news/top-stories/zips-football-jarrod-pughsley-transforms-from-overweight-walk-on-to-starting-left-tackle-1.300947 It doesn't say it in this article, but I believe Tank's initial assessment of Jarrod was that he had a lot of potential, but was "TFF".
  9. Maybe they have labeled Newman with the same condition they found Jarrod Pughsley had when Bowden & Co. arrived in 2012?
  10. I realize a player's pro career impacts the status of their college career. I think Jatavis' college career is more impressive than Jason's already. If JB can carve out a legitimate NFL career, I think he goes to GZOAT in a lot of people's books. I think it is safe to say that JT is secure in his title of GPZOAT, though. Does that make sense?
  11. What happened to Richie Cooper? Did I miss something?
  12. You are going to lose money betting the over because the Zips are going 6-0 at home this year.
  13. I thought they might have replaced the A-Roo with a Z at midfield for this season. Guess not.
  14. I really liked it. It's like drinking candy.
  15. 1. Bowl games are a reward for the teams for having a good season. They are also an enjoyable bonus for fans to see your team play one more time against a (usually) unfamiliar foe. I loved the crap out of the Potato Bowl. Tears were shed. My pride swelled. It was great and I wish I was able to attend. I did not mean to disparage the bowl experience by saying they meaningless exhibition games. But reading anything into the results of a bowl game is a fool's game because there are too many unique circumstances involved. I won't belabor the point. Anyone interested in the topic can Google it and read much better commentary than mine. 2. I totally contradicted my first point on the second, but can you tell I'm still a little salty about the BG game? I'm tired of losing to those potlickers. My commentary should have been in support of my belief that the results of a bowl game mean precious little. I should have said that BG was run over by GS because of a combination of getting a shitty bowl and losing their coach. My hate for Freddy Falcon derailed me. 3. I've read many comments from MAC fans building a case for the tallest midget or at leart arguing that the Sun Belt and CUSA are shorter midgets. I could look up examples but I'm too lazy. 4. I hope that someday Akron has support like ASU enjoys. If the Zips get there, they will have accomplished what no other MAC program has ever been able to do. 5. Did we agree on this one? I am a big fan of CK. You have done as much as anyone to promote the Zips. Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks.
  16. He has real GZOAT potential. Time will tell if he claims that mantle. Regardless of that, he is my FZOAT.
  17. I am so excited for the season. I was watching YouTube videos of Ohio's Pride at lunch today and took inventory of my stout stash I have been stockpiling for tailgating when I got home. Countdown to party time. Can't wait to see to see youse guys.
  18. The Mountaineer game is going to be a tough one. Hopefully, the Zips can come up with a great game plan and execute well to grab the victory. It is certainly a game that I look forward to seeing. However, I have to chime in on this MAC vs. Sun Belt topic that has been hinted at. It's hard to put a lot of stock in whatever happens in bowl games, especially using those results to rank the strength of conferences, they are meaningless post-season exhibitions. Before the advent of the BCS, they added something into the calculation for the Mythical National Champion, but since 1998, the only post season games that have mattered have been the semi-final and championship games. All others have meant sweet F.A. Bragging rights only. That being said, however, Georgia Southern destroyed Bowling Green in the Go Daddy Bowl last year. This was a GS team that was in its first year of bowl eligibility against the MIGHTY MAC champ; a MAC champ that disemboweled the Zips. After that dark day in October as the Zips took that long ride home from Wood County after a 59-10 shellacking, there were many on this board that put forth the notion that the Zips had nothing to be ashamed of because the Falcons were really, really, really, really, really, really good. The Eagles must not have read that thread. Helpful hint to anyone that may ever feel like they might want to. . . No MAC fan should ever look down on any other conference. Just sayin'. I don't know a whole lot about ASU, but I am impressed by their level of fan support. Obviously, ASU students and alumni would rather watch their alma mater play in person rather than staying home to watch UNC, NCSU, WF or Duke. School pride! A concept that never took on a foothold in the MAC. If you do make it up to the game, stop by the tailgate and introduce yourself, AppinSC. We are actually pretty nice for a bunch of damn Yankees.
  19. Everybody get their Z-Fund postcard and log onto the account manger?
  20. Really? I thought the white helmet was totally bad ass.
  21. Media Guide came out today. Here's your first 2-deep. . .
  22. One thing I should have posted back at MAC tournament time. . . Barrio is fantastic. If you like tacos, it a must do. They have a pretty sweet tap list as well. Anybody ever been to Diamond Grille on Market Street? Been past the place a million times but never stopped. I hear they serve a pretty mean steak but wondered if anyone could confirm that before I go.
