  1. I guess the success or failures are somewhat similar... although one includes semi finals. The inability to win with good teams often costs a coach his job eventually.. I just don't see the accomplishment as that equal... kind of what Kreed above is saying
  2. http://www.bcsn.tv/news_article/show/656160 This article - and the current financial snapshot of the UA would seem to make a case for who-oring it up. I can't think that any program at UA can feel comfortable where things are heading.
  3. I would compare LeBron's finals run to the Zips if it was an NCAA tourney appearance run... I don't think a run to the MAC final four is the same when the goal is the NCAA championship (or getting in)
  4. Unfortunately, I don't think any president that comes in to do the job needed will ever be viewed positively by the public. The financial iceberg hasn't gone away.
  5. Northern Iowa is signed for a home and home with Xavier
  6. Grand Canyon has big-name opponents like Duke, Louisville, Illinois and San Diego State on the men’s basketball schedule next season. The Antelopes also will play Arizona, one of the colleges initially against their move to Division I. “Our goal is to be in the top 25 in every program we have,” ---and we want to win the MAC
  7. This is like people in my office talking about how to spend their powerball winnings
  8. So now you are telling us 1/3 of P5 schools could have been scheduling us all along???... I just hope they don't low ball us at $60,000 -- we don't want any of those games.... Probably better to play Hiram, MD Eastern Shore and others at home if that's the case
  9. While the idea of playing for $60K may seem like a slap in the face to some -- it seems ok to me for more than a few reasons. On a side note, I see the 2014-2015 NCAA finance report is out and it had Akron losing $2.3 million (in an athletic department that received a $22.1 million subsidy).
  10. Most guys don't get screwed by their peers..or at least get return phone calls .....might as well skip the next coaches' convention.
  11. You guys are talking about a new arena for a team that traditionally averages a little more than 3,200?
  12. From George Thomas KD “I give our guys credit. We’ve shown that we can compete at a high level,” he said. A win over Arkansas, staying right with Villanova for a half early in the season and forcing Ohio State into overtime reinforced that belief. Really?? Arkansas was 16-16, didn't make the NIT, and wants to fire their coach. Playing for a half (less than really) vs Villanova, and taking a garbage OSU team to OT in the NIT doesn't do much for me George Edit-- I guess... I just don't see much of an accomplishment there. I expect them to "compete"
  13. At this point these two teams are virtually unwatchable
  14. You want to win every game, but as far as big wins go, this is a lousy OSU team that isn't good enough to be in the NCAA tourney-- but the type of win this program needs... or at least the type of opponent they need to face more often --win or lose. The fact that ZN and the players are excited is the exact reason Akron should forgo home games against lousy opponents that draw 3,000 fans-- and they should hit the road for better games, money, and more recognizable opponents. Fans seem to want it, and I would be shocked if the players didn't want it. I would gladly give up 5 home games a year and still follow the Zips if they played a better schedule 21-13 vs 26-8 i can live with that... I think it would help in recruiting, and better prepare the team to play on bigger stages. --Go Zips
  15. Some people might claim it to be FIFA..... But I get your drift
  16. If you beat OSU , it will be in the NIT...... There are no ribbons for winners or losers in that joke tourney. OSU is there because they sucked this yr.
  17. Anyone remember why Marty Schottenheimer got canned?
  18. Miami is truely an awful team. At least the Zips were better than them at being bad tonight.
  19. What's their record on Internet games?
  20. I believe Miami is the second most subsidized athletic dept in the MAC.. As for general construction they relied heavily on donation and an increase in student fees.
  21. I'm curious, are any of you satisfied winning the MAC, going to the NCAA tourney and losing? I'm not.
