  1. It's a quote from Blades of Glory. You can't call someone stupid just because you didn't get the reference. Actually a 2 second Google search would have helped you.I'm not sure where my other bad grammar of "they are" and "their" or "too and to" was located? I think you should watch what you say.Did I say everything correctly for you? or should I refund my UA Degree?
  2. Akron vs. SEC? gotta go with a loss just for that reason.
  3. Everyone, please refrain from Can't bashing for a minute. Can anyone give me a good reason why this is the case? It makes no sense to me.It's really pretty simple:Can't had a better record last season than the Zips, Can't ended last season with an RPI of #67 to the Zips' #101, and Can't lost only one starting player while the Zips lost two starters. Both teams have added a couple of good transfers.Like it or not, Can't has another strong team that will probably be even more athletic this season than last, so the Zips will have to perform at a high level to beat them. What makes no sense is...why would anyone even want to play for the freaking school? it's mind bottling
  4. Any word on the gift this year? I know last year they gave out bobbleheads which were pretty cool. The bobbleheads from this year were football related if I remember seeing online, with zippy in a Heisman pose. So, I doubt they'd give those out for bball. Something I think that would be cool is replica jerseys. Now hear me out, the Indians did this last year and they obviously weren't high quality. But to the casual fan I doubt it will make a difference. These giveaways are genius for the simple fact that what they give away usually isn't something you can buy in stores. Such as soccer scarves and bobbleheads. Replica jerseys are something along those lines that would be in high demand and exclusive to ticket holders.
  5. Forget what I just said. You're right, Big Zip, they are silver. I just saw the link to GoZips.com. Alright, yeah, very odd. Oh, well, whatever. Still pretty cool, I guess? Idk, I want to see alternate GOLD unis. We haven't had them since Dru, Wood & Rome played.I'm surprised they went with silver, but they actually have had it in striping on the shorts since they switched to Nike. It's kind of the craze now to add another color to a school. Oregon added black, silver and "volt", OK State and Syracuse added silver, Arizona State added black, WVU added black, etc. It's something the football team should have done a long time ago! Traditionalists will have a tough time adjusting, but the younger generations will find these awesome.
  6. Akron's new home duds!in case anyone wanted to seeCall me crazy but the numbers and letters almost look silver. Could just be the lighting? Not really happy they kept the same stripes on the shorts from last year, but the giant Z on the shorts is pretty cool. Hopefully they keep "akron" on the blues and maybe they bring back the gold alternates this year....or maybe the rumored black jerseys? would be sickthey better be selling the new Akron lebrons for this season somewhere!
  7. Like I've said, this team is not as good as people on here like to pretend it is. They'll be playing .500 basketball at mid season and you'll be calling for KD's job. I'd like to see them succeed more than anyone, but having these unrealistically high expectations is not a good idea. Of course you'd give the "It's too early to judge" comments but oh well. Also very disappointed in the new uniformsGreat job on the MAC-Sports.com video feed
  8. I agree building a bigger arena shows a desire to make it to a bigger stage. Unlike stadiums, an arena cannot expand. If people see a new arena being built with 5000 like BG did, it sends the message that they are getting ready to be a mediocre team in the MAC for a long time. Although we are a mediocre team, I'd like to think that someday they would like to be more.
  9. So C-USA and the Mountain West are looking to merge together. Crap schools like SMU and Houston are getting invites to the Big East, and our great school is..........doing absolutely nothing! Really makes me proud, this is one of the most crucial times in college sports history and we're destined to drop to D2. fantastic
  10. I love these 1 yard runs with under 5min left. Ianello is a genious!!! NO one saw that coming, catch them off guard. Might as well take a knee there, no one would expect that either ...and moore is terrible! He had a wide open wr in the endzone and overthrew it, then fumbled the next play.
  11. I'm glad UA is so preoccupied by adding curvy sidewalks, planting bushes, and adding sitting steps...really? Good thing they don't care about building a new arena or producing a winning football team. Those new bushes will really put in the national spotlight! Hopefully the 20 fans that go to watch football games will enjoy looking at them as they walk back to the parking lots...
  12. FIU 45 Akron 3 In front of 200 fans. I'm one of the biggest Zips fans you'll find, but I'm not stepping a foot near a football event until Ianello is fired...
  13. Is Rob Ianello coaching this team? oh wait nevermind we got 2 pts, he can't even do that hahaha
  14. The problem I have is, no matter how good these players are why would they want to play in Akron. I can't see a guy putting on an Akron hat in front of the press saying "I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to win 4 games during my 4 year career with the Zips" I actually know a football player from western PA. Very talented and had looks from ACC and Big East schools. Said he considered Akron, but his response was something along the lines of...Stadium and facilities were awesome, but they are just too bad. Disappointing, but that right there sums up what High School athletes think of our program. I'd say what they look for in general are: Winning Tradition Stadium Uniforms Now I know the forth one may be surprising, but I doubt it's a coincidence that Oregon gets so many talented players. It's obviously something that get's a school noticed. Out of those 4 criteria, I say all we have going for us is the stadium....
  15. We'll lose this game by over 40 points. again, Sun Belt team.....SUN BELT!!
  16. Ianello needs to go... I hate to bring this up again, but I just read an article about Big East expansion. You know what schools they talked about? UCF, Temple, Navy, Army, Air Force and here's the real kicker....SMU. Now I'm not trying to be a homer but as a school, facilities, academics, and winning we are better than all of them except maybe Temple. But you know what, our football program will keep us in the MAC until it ultimately dissolves forcing us to drop back to FCS and play garbage teams like VMI and YSU every week. Now I don't see us putting 300 million into a program to watch it play against glorified high schools, but Ianello will make that happen. Now let me ask, how many schools will deal with a coach that can only win 2 games...in two years? You think OSU, Cincy, or even Can't would deal with that? Remember Rod Marinelli got fired in Detroit after 1 0-16 season? Eric Mangini got fired in Cleveland after 2 seasons and you know how many games he won 10!! are you kidding? we're giving a guy this much time after only being able to win 2 games and showing absolutely no improvement. He couldn't even beat EMU and Garnder Webb!!!
  17. A good team makes a mediocre goalie look good. He barely gets any shots on goal and fumbles the ball very often. But most of all his attitude bothers me. I had to sit behind the goal during the Cal tourney game last year and he was screaming at the players 90% of the time. Now I understand sometimes he may be telling them to make adjustments, but it was more the case of him flipping out every time Cal got a shot on goal. It's like he never has any shots on goal and when he actually does, he throws a temper tantrum because he has to do some work for a change.
  18. maybe they can use them as toilet paper around campus
  19. Seriously did akron just punt from VMI's 31 yard line? ahahaha wow we suck
  20. Has to be the worst kick coverage I have ever seen. Gave VMI a 39yd drive, one play and they scored...wouldn't be surprised if we lost this one!!
  21. This is the worst possible time for Akron to be at rock bottom for football. With all of this movement, we going to get thrown under the bus and end up in FCS playing teams like VMI all year. It doesn't matter if soccer wins 10 national championships, a conference like the BigEast will never let us in with this football team. Even if they could be mediocre like Houston or UCF we'd have a chance. We have the facilities, enrollment, and location to make it, but the conferences don't care unless you win. I see 4 super-conferences with everyone else dropping down to FCS. It's sad but true that we won't see small schools becoming the next Boise, TCU, etc. Right now is the time the conferences will be determined, and I don't see any way teams will move up or down. I think the ONLY advantage we have is that I like to think our administration wants to move up in college athletics.Dream scenario? fire Ianello. Sorry but he hasn't shown anything. Hire a guy like Tressel. As much as I hate OSU this would be the only thing that could help a program at rock bottom. Second, build a new arena. Show a bigger conference that you are committed to building and able to spend money to improve. Make a run this year in the tourney and you might get conference's attention. Look at UConn, Cincy, and Louisville, schools that had good basketball teams that carried their entire athletics programs into bigger conferences. I know none of this will ever happen, but we can dream right?
  22. He's not only a bad coach, he is stubborn as hell. He has a game plan, he sticks to it, and REFUSES to make adjustments. First of all as bad as Nicely and Moore are, they are not Pro style offense QB's. They both flourish out of the shotgun, especially with a line that gives you one second to pass. By the time our QB's drop back they have 4-5 defenders ready to hit them and receivers draped with coverage. Second, we have a talented RB but he cannot run up the gut without a line. The defenses we face KNOW where he's running and know they stop it. Resulting in 1 yard runs. Was it any surprise that the 1 time 44 ran to the outside he picked up 30+? I guarantee that wasn't a designed run to the outside. Chances are he was supposed to run up the gut and said hell with it, gained 30 yards and probably got yelled at by Ianello on the sideline.
  23. The prediction is pretty easy based on the first two games.Cincy +40Akron -3take a guess where I got those numbers! I mean i've really been impressed with coach's Run-Run-IncompletePass-Punt offense. I only wonder...if the Browns had used that last week maybe we would've beat the Bungels.
  24. He got us 3 points in 2 games. If I were him I would have stayed in Juco, I'm sure the coaches are smarter there...
  25. MODERATOR EDIT: {Unnecessary comment deleted .. other fans are welcome here.}Looking at our Schedule we're going to be 7-9 heading into MAC play.
