McSorely and Barkely will be the 2 of the most talented offensive players in the country this year. I think most know enough about Barkely, but McSorely really impressed me when I saw him a few times at the end of last season. Reminded me a lot of a Texas A&M QB in college that the Browns drafted a few years ago.

Good points by all. I get annoyed by people who wear OSU/other gear to games, but hell at least they are there. Get fans there and then worry about what they wear afterwards. A-Zip- If there is anything we know about getting new stadiums, its that it isn't guaranteed to change anything.

Didn't the U do some kind of advertising campaign with the ABJ a few years ago? Can't remember the reason, but I am pretty sure they had some ad insert included with the newspaper. We all debate the reasoning attendance sucks. Probably all of our reasoning play a part. We are all big fans, hence the reason we are on this site. Maybe we aren't in tune with "Joe Akron"? Here is an idea. Send one of those ads out again to ABJ subscribers. Put a survey on there with 5 or so options with space for a write in. Ask Akron residents what it would take for them to want to come to an Akron Zips football game. Make that thing self-addressed and stamped. We have an alumni network. Send out emails, send more paper mail. Ask our alumni what it would take for them to come to a game. Whatever the majority of people say....do your best at doing that! I mean it probably would be a consistently winning program but if that were easy everyone would do it... Mr. Williams - If you are reading this, I am available for hire for the right price.

Based on what I saw in the spring game/have read, I have more faith in our defense than our WR corps this season. Though we don't have a lot of depth in general on the defense, I think the unit can be pretty good if we stay healthy and can get average play out of the D line and I think its possible. We return some key guys in Boxen, Jest, and Copeland (who was named most improved play in the spring, IIRC). Someone will need to step up at DE. May it be Davis, Bell, or somebody else. I think we have a bunch of JAGs (just a guy) at WR. A strong running game will make it easier for that group, but I was not very impressed in the spring game. MTB going down makes it worse. Maybe Andre Williams can come in and surprise us...

We have a few Zips basketball alumni participating in The Basketball Tournament, in which all of the games will be broadcasted on ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPN3 depending on the round. Similar to last year, we have players on the Canton Bulldogs squad. UA shouldn't take a hit no matter the viewership of this paper. I don't see an issue with the way anything was conducted.

Spending 60k for some additional due diligence to potentially save you hundreds of thousands or possible even millions down the road seems like an okay use of funds to me, especially when nearly everyone else does it. All Bob Dyer had to do was spend 10 minutes googling the use of search firms in college sports and he wouldn't have to waste time writing and researching that piece and looking like a fool. I agree there were some good tidbits in there, but he is just uniformed.

I think what he is saying it that it is good for the coach to help get the kid a D-1 offer, which is what I take from the mention of the relationship with the Quincy staff and ours.

Sucks the MTB is out again as he may have been our best receiving threat. I believe this is now 2 years that he has missed with injuries. It is good to see he plans on coming back, though. Hopefully Sands can get it together health-wise if we are going to be running a lot as he should be better than Edwards and Morgan.

That scholarship was taken by the new freshman PG who needs a hair cut.
