I believe what has been mentioned on here in the past is that Dalton was a walk-on last season with expectations of being on scholly this season. So him leaving essentially opened up the scholly for Duvivier at the time. Someone correct me if I am wrong...
-
Interesting that Groce said he sees Patton as a wing. I think the last scholly goes to a PG.
-
That right there pisses me off more than anything in regards to the scheduling.
-
He said a lot about leaving. His tweets were posted on this site, but I believe he deleted them.

You all are getting worked up over someone with 27 posts who clearly doesn't know Akron's history. Easy.
-
To the contrary, if all the FCS football conferences were FBS (like those members essentially are in basketball), where do you think the MAC would rank? Like I said, a dumb comparison.
-
This is a dumb comparison, IMO. Not apples to apples.

Last I am commenting on this topic for now as I'm ready to move forward to next season, but I think what it really comes down to is that some are more patient than others. Three straight 1-11 seasons is as big of a hole as anyone is going to have to climb out of. We got a taste of what Bowden can do for the program with the Potato Bowl and then had a drop off season. Nobody was happy with last season's results. People have different views as to why the reasoning was or where the blame lies, but the truth is that it was a little bit of everything. I'm fine with letting it play out to see if he can get us to a bowl game with any regularity and/or build upon that. Maybe 5-7 is all we can ever expect. Maybe the next coach will have us competing for MAC championships every year. But the next coach won't have it near as hard as what Bowden did. I don't really think that is debatable.

I mean the U tried to get a stadium built in partnership with the city (which I thought and still think would be a nice thing), coupled with jail operations and emergency radio system capital improvements, but the whole 0.25% sales tax increase was apparently too much to even get it on the ballot. The support unfortunately isn't there from the citizens.

Does anybody have an idea on what position we target? Does Groce decide to fill the scholly with a player immediately eligible with 1 yr of eligibility or a younger player eligible next year? Any chance he decides not to use it? I don't see anyway that is really a good idea. I think my guess is a forward from the hole created or a sharpshooter. Think Walsh, McAdams, Kretz type,
-
Incorrect.
-
I thought he was a non-qualifier/greyshirt as well. I had some expectations for him, but I am of course intrigued to see who that scholly goes too.
-
Well dammit! Another scholly!

When have they not known in the recent past?
-
Good to see him get an offer. Fully expecting PJ Fleck to offer him anytime now.
-
You do realize you could make your own rankings and it would be as credible as what was posted, right? Not to mention a game hasn't been played yet this year. Honestly cannot believe people are getting riled up over preseason rankings by some random reporters who don't even know who our starting RB is.

Football is king. Stop crying and deal with it.

There should be no debate. We are all rooting for the same team. I don't go to the soccer board and crap on the now underachieving program and the costs to send them on international trips every other year and international recruiting budget when literally nobody cares about collegiate soccer (or soccer in general in America, really) do I?
-
I'm not denying anything man. I'm tired of the football vs basketball debate. The basketball team has generally had a winning record in the shitty MAC. That's it. Congrat.
-
The football team has as many post season wins since I began going to Akron in 2010 as the basketball team does.
-
That uh...doesn't look good. Dang.
-
Forget the name, but I remember reading WMU's would be leading returning tackler who was intending on transferring changed his mind and is going to stay. A little hit to my chances!
-
I'm not sure I know of anyone doing that. I have stated I'm fine with moving on if the program is where it was last year when his contract is up.

LePear Toles Commits to Akron
LZIp replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
The stories that impress me are stories about winning. Don't really care who is involved in doing it. You act like the "stars" didn't work their butt off to be rated as high as they were. Speculating that they think they are too good to be here is baseless. I highly doubt any of them would be here if they didn't want to be. If you want to root for the little guy, I know of a midget PG who plays at Duquesne. Come to think of it, we were his only offer. Yeah, he was sure happy to be here. Akron is an upgrade over 2, maybe even 3 of the programs we got players from. Lastly, calling players "busts" or whatever after their freshman season's is a very lazy assertion.
