  1. Some pretty good thoughts, Balsy. Brock could very well be the starter next season and I believe it is worth giving him a second chance as well. He showed teams something for him to get paid all that money.... I think the only bad move the FO has made is with Schwartz. Lets be honest. Guys like Gipson, Mack, and Benjamin weren't going to stay here no matter what. Even though they probably did mess up with Schwartz, it is clear he was trying to use the Browns as leverage and then when that failed we tried to come back. I don't have a huge problem with setting a precedent that were aren't going to be everybody's negotiating tool. These guys aren't perfect but I think they are learning. There are positives you can point to as well. As I said above, people crap on them for passing on Wentz, but Kessler did just as well statistically last season. They traded a 3rd round pick for an All-Pro in Jamie Collins (and then re-signed him to a long term contract). They took a WR project who nobody wanted and turned him into a thousand yard receiver. BTW, TP did not want to come back either. They offered him more guaranteed money and years than anybody else. Pryor is making an incredibly risky move, IMO, with the deal he signed with Washington. I personally think Rosenhaus let him down during the process. Also, that NBA-esque trade for Brock was revolutionary and...well pretty genius if you ask me. Bad look for the Texans as they traded away their high profile QB signing after only a year to make cap space for Tony Romo, who then retired.
  2. What McHenry did was pretty nasty. However, reading this did make me feel less negative towards her. We're all human. And I mean come on....we need something to stare at on ESPN! http://www.marieclaire.com/culture/news/a24045/espn-britt-mchenry-viral-video-apology/ Back on topic...I feel the MAC really lucked out in negotiating with ESPN before all of this went down (regardless of your feelings on weekday games). I don't think there will be near as much money thrown around in the future, especially for G5 conferences.
  3. Can you expand on this?
  4. I think he would have thrived this year in Groce's system, but next man up. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out!
  5. Figure we should have a Browns thread on here as I imagine a lot of us are also fans of the team that plays on the shore of Lake Erie. Tomorrow is a big day. I'm a big believer in these guys in charge. Sashi, Paul, Hue, and Williams. Last season was very rough, but I think they are positioned pretty well for the future (outside of QB). With that said, I don't hate Kessler. He was better statistically than Wentz last season in just about every category, but I think he is limited. Bunch of reports saying its split between Garrett and Trubs right now. I think its Garrett. The draft really starts at 2.
  6. I voted on Trubs. Mahomes has the highest ceiling, but a risk. Watson could be pretty solid as well, kind of reminds me of Mariota but his arm strength is concerning. No thanks on Kaaya or Kizer. A mid round guy I like is Davis Webb.
  7. I was curious about us actually beating out Duquesne so I took a look at their message board. According to that Pittsburgh site that broke the news, there is one scholly open (even though the fans don't know who/why). Was that offer from Duquesne still acceptable for Patton? I don't know. But if we get Collins then there seems to be a solid chance that atleast one of the offers were acceptable, meaning we beat out KD. Duquense also has 4(!) schollies used up this season on players who will not be playing. Yikes. Considering the mass exodus of MAC talent, any bets that Akron won't have a better year than the Dukes?
  8. The Browns invested in a top guard in the league in Zeitler and JC Tretter who has been amazing in Green Bay when he played. Also extended Bitonio who was hurt most of last year and still have Greco who also missed most of the last season. Thomas - Bitonio - Tretter - Zeitler - Coleman/Erving (both looked good in time vs the Steelers the last game of the season) is a top 5 OL. I'd suggest anyone who wants to crap on the Browns (not saying you are B&G) to compare Kessler vs Wentz's stats from last season.
  9. I realized that -_-
  10. Not buying it.
  11. Good to get Patton. Now lets get Collins!
  12. Boxen did redshirt his freshman year (or maybe greyshirted...i don't know). Anyways, surprised nobody has brought up Devonte Jest from just last season...
  13. Agree DL is still a big concern. I guess I'm just hoping the players have continued to develop as they should. Would feel much better about Woody being healthy too, but I don;t think he is going to end up missing a game where his play would be the deciding factor. Lets hope we can bring in a D-Lineman who contributes more than Jelani Hamilton did last season.
  14. thanks for the clarification. good to hear.
  15. Yea I recall you saying that and I hope its still the case. He was not on the roster handed out at the spring game and has been mysteriously removed online as well. I didn't see him playing and zxx or whatever his username is said he was off the team. I think is was posted in the spring game attendance thread.
  16. It was the not good Weathers? Ha ha. I was going to ask that. I figured the brothers would have stuck together.
  17. Now maybe Blackburn will stop crying about the "Akron connection" and his boy Nick Dials.
  18. I don't know crap about IMG but I'm not sure what is so hard for skip to understand. Go to JUCO and start your eligibility clock. Go to prep school and put it off one more year. Seems like an easy decision to me.
  19. Dang this is concerning hearing this from you. We return a lot and the fact that Brennan Williams was named most improved is encouraging for the D-Line. Apparently losing J Davis probably hurts, but King looked solid. The D backfield should be solid. Gilbert will be back for fall AFAIK, I find it pretty hard to believe that we won't be improved at all from last year. Who do you have pegged as up and coming talent?
  20. What exactly have you guys seen? A scrimmage with close to a dozen starters/key contributors not playing? We don't have depth. That's for sure.
  21. Should be 5 to play 4 as his eligibility clock hasn't started ticking yet.
  22. One big need filled, and from the high school route at that. I'm far from some basketball talent evaluator....but I don't see a real weakness in his game.
  23. Skip must not have watched the Oklahoma game.
  24. I didn't take much from the game besides the fact the WR corps looks weak (as expected), but Stewart, Wolf, Gladney, and Young weren't out there. Smith/Coney/Chapman all look serviceable but I think that's it. Too many drops. It is probably wishful thinking, but I hope Dre Williams can come in and contribute. George looks like a stud out there at CB (body wise). Dailey looked as good as advertised.
