  1. Is KD dumb enough to get his ass kicked by VCU because he never developed more ball handlers on the team (our weakness)? Kd did the same thing against VCU as Shaka did against Michigan. That is, sticking with your strength and hoping it is good enough to win. Also, there is absolutely nobody "dumb" in either scenario. We could not match up with VCU. VCU could not match up with the star power of Michigan. Burke, Hardaway, and even Robinson may be first round picks this year.
  2. Flawless logic you have there (and ironic, I might add).
  3. He is bright enough to take his team to the final four, and win tournament games every year.
  4. I agree with that.
  5. Thats a good question. It may help locally, because making the tournament gives us an edge over the locals (CSU, Can't State, etc). I dont see it helping in national recruiting or attracting out of state students, however.
  6. You think? If you dont think having successful athletics doesnt help increase enrollment, you are very naive. More proof from the very own VCU: http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/dollars/tag/_/name/vcu Even more proof from George Mason: http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballn...f-the-court-too Even more proof from Butler: http://www.butlersports.com/sports/m-baskb...eases/040111aab I can go all day...
  7. I dont care what happened to VCU today. I am talking about our game. As I pointed out before, and which will probably be ignored again, VCU's last starter scored with 9 minutes left. They still pressed? So what? What if a key player was injured. You need the back ups to step in and not miss a beat (maybe KD could take note). Would any of our fans complain if KD beat them by 40? Hell no. Do you guys think VCU was really 40 points better than us? If no, then some of the blame has to go on KD for not having the team prepared.
  8. Im not a fan of The Odd Corner, but I dont see why you are calling him an A-hole for getting the most that he can out of his business.
  9. Just getting to the tournament isnt enough. WINNING in the tournament will take not only our athletics, but our University and all of the enrollment goals we have to the next level. Example A) After Florida Gulf Coast knocked off Georgetown yesterday, hits to Florida Gulf Coast's "Campus Life" page was up 690% yesterday compared to the day before. Hits to Florida Gulf Coast's "Admissions" page was up 431% yesterday compared to the day before. Those are not typos, either.
  10. Quit being a sore loser. It makes the whole fanbase look bad.
  11. I think with Harney, its more mental than anything. I agree that there is a lot of potential with him.
  12. Do you believe in handing out participation trophies, too? This is the NCAA tournament, not a regular season game. He has a job. Smart needs to have his players primed, as they have other games against tougher opponents left to play. I think the last time a starter scored for VCU was with about 9 minutes left in the game. He called off the dogs. What do you expect, for them to run the shot clock out and throw it out of bounds?
  13. False again. The MLS has a higher average attendance than the NBA and NHL.
  14. Most popular sport in the world.
  15. Yeah, sorry, I could have worded it better.
  16. I said Im not sure if he could play the 3 and I said I think the freshman did a fine job stepping in for him. Not sure where you are getting me saying he isnt valuable or whatever. Just tired of everybody using the excuse of not having Diggs this season. It wasnt a loss at a crucial time like AA or Walsh. McAdams and Kretzer made big plays, even won us a few games. In hind sight, losing Quincy wasnt a killer until our starting PG decided he wanted to traffic marijuana.
  17. Im well aware of the importance of the 6th man, and more specifically, Diggs to our team.
  18. Not sure if Diggs would have been a starter this year or not, but I dont see any of the 3 you mentioned playing the 3. Also, Diggs was known to be gone well before the season, so I am not going to give KD a pass on that because he had all season to make the adjustment (and did fine I might add). Our freshman contributed. KD might have gotten the top rated MAC player of all time, but on the other hand, how many tournament (not counting conference) games has he won with that talent? Pretty sure its 0.
  19. You are thinking about it way too much zips71. Make some noise in the NCAA tourney, and your budget will increase as well as talent. Its funny you knock Akron by saying nobody wants to come here, they will choose anywhere over here blah blah, but you mention Zeke Marshall in the same post. Location plays a small part in a recruit's decision, sometimes a major part. There are many factors that a recruit looks at for choosing a school, but the most common and important factor is how good the program is. No shit that Terry Bowden is having trouble bringing in recruits. We havent beaten a D1 opponent in 2 years. It looks like Bowden did great with this class with what he has to work with.
  20. A healthy Walsh is not going to make a 40+ point difference. In fact, I dont think it hurt us all that much, really. McAdams and Chauncey both have similar skill sets. I admire KD and what he has done with the basketball program, but people getting pissed when somebody questions him is crazy. He has never won anything to make me think his is invincible. As GP1 said, he is no John Wooden.
  21. Im a huge fan. Not saying he is great, but he did carry Ole Miss to the win today. I mainly love his personality/passion. some of his acts this season http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjkiebus/this-is-h...ncaa-tournament
  22. Your points are spot on, pat. GP1 will criticize anything and everything that involves the AD and spending money. If im not mistaken, he hasnt been around the University in years, so he has no idea how much the facilities get used.
  23. We have implemented it some and did use it some this year. We have had success with Harney and Tree pressing. Betancourt stands up too straight when he dribbles, causing him to dribble higher. He played solid, as a back up. I commend him for stepping up after the loss of Abreu, but he hasnt shown me anything to make me think he is our point guard of the future. Lane will not be playing basketball, and yea, he is good.
  24. What a bunch of tree-hugging hippies.
