  1. Well, Enrique is now a bit of a question mark.
  2. I think Owen Murphy was actually pretty solid, he was just injured all of last year, and I believe he was an OT. Not sure if we could supplant either Landers or Williams. As for the others, we've seen them play. Some of the offers they are reporting make zero logical sense. So either walk ons, or there is a serious premium in the TP for ready to play OL.
  3. Don’t like any talk of Groce leaving, for whatever reason. After the next season might look like a “rebuild” and it might not. Nobody knows the type of leap Tavari will make, Baker is pretty highly touted. Dawson would technically have another year of eligibility with a medical redshirt. Not to mention the ability to reload with the transfer portal. positivity guys!
  4. Banes just officially posted he's transferring on twitter. Seems like he's just looking to get closer to family. Unfortunate, but not much anybody in Akron OH could've done about that.
  5. Looks like we might have a replacement for Wiley. Former 4 star at VT I believe with 2 years of eligibility. Seems like he started most of last season?
  6. If he ponders another transfer, I'd imagine it would be to Cal over Akron.
  7. Nice to see Walker mentioned. He’s small (so was Jojo Natson), but I loved his HS tape.
  8. He came on along more towards the end of the season IIRC. A couple hundred yard + games without checking the stats. But if there's a position we could afford to lose a contributor, its probably running back. Not to mention due to the timing, there's a decent chance he's leaving due to him having an idea in what his playing time is going to look like, and that reason is hopefully Lorenzo Lingard.
  9. Hope we get the interviews and highlights throughout spring ball.
  10. Wiley in the TP
  11. So what type of player makes the most sense to fill the last scholarship on? Right now I'm leaning a freshman Aziz-type prospect to red-shirt. Only so many players can play. I'm not opposed to bringing an experienced big, but I would think an experienced big would want to play starter minutes and that won't happen next year. Additionally, bringing one in probably means Lyles transfers.
  12. Tapping the NIU well again.
  13. I believe Coach Rodriguez would have coached him at FIU. Hopefully we have the inside track there, though I think IOL is a bigger need than tackle at this point.
  14. I agree. Of course the nerds on twitter are starting to say "March Madness is entertaining but it doesn't crown a true champion." Give me a break.
  15. Announcers had an interesting stat in this Kansas State/FAU game. Said all of Kansas States scholarship players began their career at another school.
  16. 3 years including a redshirt year sounds correct, but I hope we don't have to use that!
  17. FWIW, the coach actually does have restriction for taking another job. The catch is that their new employer is the one who pays for their buy out. Kids now get to transfer up to twice in their 4-5 year college careers without penalty. I have no problem with requiring them to be thoughtful about it and using it strategically/when the situation really warrants it, rather than transferring because they didn't play much as a freshman or their team stinks. My understanding is they still have the ability to transfer down a level and not sit out at all if playing for a coach who didn't recruit you is that insufferable.
  18. Its not blocking them from transferring, its blocking them from transferring a second time AND being granted immediate eligibility. If you haven't transferred already or if you're a grad transfer, it doesn't affect you at all. Will make kids think twice about transferring just because or transferring to a school whose coach is on the hot seat. I'm okay with it.
  19. You know the OL transfer portal market is f'd when our 3rd or 4th best LT is getting offers from a Big 12 school. Developing this position group from within is vital.
  20. Its like this board thinks just like the coaching staff. Refreshing for sure. I like Garvin, but probably not a complete and consistent enough player for a program like Akron. Thanks for his contributions and hope he finds success as his new home. At this point, I personally hope we don't lose anyone else. If I had to pick 3 from the roster to look for a better fit, the three who are leaving are it.
  21. I wonder is Duquesne fans feel their first round CBI loss to Rice was worth it.
  22. Pretty embarrassing showing by Kent. Love it!
  23. Cant's hustle keeping them in it so far. Shots don't seem to be falling like they were in the MAC tourney.
