  1. While we’re still doing mental gymnastics to make it seem like losing Ali wasn’t a big deal, anyone want to chime in where Sammy Hunter ranks and what that means about him? Don’t see him in the top 100. if everyone thinks Ali is good except for a select few of the Zipsnation faithful, it just might be a bad take. Best of luck to him, but I don’t really have much interest in talking about it anymore. Looking forward to seeing how the staff fills out the roster. Go Zips!
  2. Feel free to share anything you observed at practice
  3. Have to say GT is doing a nice job with these position previews. Wonder if he got the idea from @catdaddyp lol
  4. Virshon Cotton in the transfer portal for the umpteenth time.
  5. Ali was by no means an inefficient scorer either.
  6. So I actually have it on good authority this commit is actually going to be the 22 class, though I’d typically think 23 given the timing. What I don’t know is if they’re on scholly and/or is this a replacement for the OL commit from Indiana who is the only freshman signee that isn’t on the roster. Not a lot of information out there on this one and this is and example of where it gets confusing when trying to track players on scholly.
  7. For whatever reason, I have a feeling he ends up at OU (because of need and I believe his dad played there) or Toledo (need). I think he’s a heck of a talent though, one above the MAC, so he’d be a steal for whoever get him. Unfortunately I don’t think we have a fit for him on the team, unless we make room of course. We have a lot of guards.
  8. Also with offers to KEnt and Toledo per 247
  9. Agreed. Makes you wonder why he wasn’t able to catch on elsewhere.
  10. We are going to have some real depth at DL then. We still have the likes of Fann, Wilson, Johnson, McClain, Morton, and Szy backing them up (assuming they don’t transfer)..all of whom have plenty of experience. I guess 4 new starters means we should raise our expectations of this unit.
  11. Interesting as I believe both Williams and Daniels were guards last year. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Idk if he’s supposed to replace Aziz, so I don’t look at it that way. I think he gives us the option to add another dynamic to the team and play bigger, while maintaining adequate spacing on offense for Enrique to operate. I’d still like us to bring in a back up center in addition to a “replacement” for Ali, whatever that may be.
  13. I would think Garvin Clarke is somehow connected to this. Pretty cool if so.
  14. Agree. Obviously expect him to have potential based on where he’s coming from. But 2.9ppg from Ole Miss on 20% from 3 doesn’t have me super excited. At least he isn’t BVP though right
  15. It has not been in the past.
  16. Any transfer we are going to get is either going to be a player who felt they were “too good” for their situation or clearly not “good enough” for their situation. Choose wisely. I want the best players for our team. I don’t care if they come from Ohio, Long Beach State, or Wake Forest. I’m not going to pretend I know if a player doesn’t have a team oriented attitude or won’t commit to playing defense. Coaches job is to vet that.
  17. Do better than 1st team All MAC player?? Our window is now and he’s a perfect fit. Sign me up.
  18. On my phone, but we got a commit from Nate Thompson, a safety from Duke who appears to have been at least a part time starter.
  19. Well with that, the losses Buffalo, OU, and now Toledo are going to have..it appears to be a 2 horse race next year with us and Kent. Can't wait to see how Groce & Co decide to address the 3 open schollies.
  20. Genuine question - based on what? His only HC experience is at Xavier and he failed to ever sniff the dance there. Finished 3rd in conference his first year, then 6th, 7th, and 8th following that. Never made it past 2nd round of NIT.
  21. April 30th can't get here soon enough! Just hope its an actual scrimmage rather than whatever Arth did (mostly just drills and maybe very little 11 on 11 with no tackling IIRC).
  22. Great write up as always. I wonder if we will run a 3-4, 4-3, or if its situational. Remember Nick Toth was the DC, something happened there, then Tibesar was brought in to replace. I'd think Moorhead would want to replace Toth with someone who is planning to run a similar scheme, but I haven't dug into it really. My general thoughts on both the DL and OL: Not really super high on personnel across the board, but for the first time in a long time, we have both depth and experience on both sides. I'd think we can find some lineups that will stick and be formidable.
  23. RB from Kansas State, who should be joining us in the summer. From what I can tell, only played in one game ever at K State. Still should have 3 years of eligibility considering the extra COVID year. Either one of Norrils or Williams are gone, or we're going to have the most capable backs on the roster in as long as I can recall, with 4 guys competing for playing time (Wiley, Price, Williams, and Norrils).
  24. Yes sir to all. I've attached the most current version. Don't pay attention to the class years as I know some of GoZips roster is wrong, so waiting to update those. Looks like they aren't reflecting last year's redshirts. Also, I wouldn't pay much attention to the special teams player names. More-so just assuming the starting Long snapper, Kicker, and Punter are all on scholly. The current roster is missing additional Arth era players Deacon Allen (OL) and Rey Noi Summerset (OLB). Both were freshman last year and I don't believe played at all. There is one Moorhead signee not showing up yet - OL Keylen Davis Zips Football Scholarship Chart.xlsx
  25. Can't agree more with your take among this group. Scholarship guesses are spot on as well. I do think one player ends up transferring out after spring ball. We've got 4 guys expecting playing time (Brank, Og, Yarmo, and Banks), and they aren't all going to get it barring injuries. I keep a scholarship chart that isn't 100%, but pretty accurate. Fact is we don't always hear about walk-ons getting put on scholly or official status of players who transfer in over the summer, so assumptions get made. Holding off on posting for now as the roster online needs to have class levels fixed.
