  1. Now this I agree with.
  2. His athleticism does look good. You can tell the HS doesn't have many players recruited...I feel the hudl film doesn't do him many favors. Hard to spot and little reps on OL, which appears to be the position he's getting recruited. BTW - quite positive all of Mumpfield, Gibson, and Mathison combined had no more than one FBS offer between them. I like taking a flyer on diamonds in the rough. Low risk (move them on while underclassman if they aren't showing anything), high reward.
  3. We are really pushing it close then with our April 30th spring game. Not going to give much time for the players leaving to get in there lol.
  4. Sparks going back to Balls St
  5. South Point OH is named very appropriately. Aren't going to find much out there on Mr. Long besides his short Hudl film. Seems basically non-existent on social media outside of his twitter profile with 2 posts.
  6. This is a good point.
  7. I really liked Arth's last WR class of Singleton, Mumpfield, Gathings, and Walker. Mumpfield obviously gone. We saw some flashes from Singleton last year as a true freshman (though he got banged up some). Gathings was out all year injured, and as far as I know Walker was fine but didn't get PT...but his HS tape was explosive as hell. Shockey and Adams should at worst case be solid MAC WRs. Its really hard for me NOT to be excited about a young WR from LSU. Not playing young isn't an indictment against him IMO considering that talent that comes out of there, which is in the same tier of OSU and Bama. We know Scippio and Grimes are capable of playing at this level as well, though there probably just-a-guy at most. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised with this group.
  8. Reminds me of the Cavs days when the missing piece was a stretch 4 to compete with the Magic after Rashard Lewis was an X factor the year before. We traded for Antawn Jamison, then the Celtics beat us and Lebron went to Miami.
  9. Count me in as believing in Irons' potential if the turnovers can get cleaned up. I'd like him to maintain his health as well. He was beat up last year and I recall reading about injuries in JUCO as well. Better O-line will help, but avoiding the contact and sliding or stepping out of bounds every now and then will too.
  10. Don't you dare...... Dawson is a glue guy in the purest sense there is. I would hate to lose him no doubt as he's valuable, but would be surprised if the opportunity to move up is there.
  11. Winning the regular season is nice, but if not, I don't really give a damn where we finish in the regular season. I want NCAA tournament bids and win(s) in it. I believe thats what many of us were expecting sometime in the next two years considering the youth and assumed returning talent to the team.
  12. You guys are pretty good at convincing yourselves these departures mean nothing lol. If they players are on the team, they're good. If they leave, they sucked anyways. The staff has their work cut out for them if we want to repeat or more.
  13. What in the ever loving hell is going on........
  14. Last comment about this...we know Groce can bring a player of similar caliber as a replacement (see KJ Walton). Lets just hope he hits this time or our window we thought we had might be shattered before we have a chance to enter. Ali has/had flaws, but he also had/has a high ceiling and the ability to score efficiently at all 3 levels. I don't think we have a proven player on our team that can do that. Big hole. Will be interesting to see how the 2 open schollies are addressed. I'd hope for stretch 4 and wing, but we may have to settle for 2 wings.
  15. Not specific to Ali, but with BVP and Sears entering also, I wonder how much NIL is playing a factor? Can't imagine our players are getting much, if anything. Maybe we should start a fund...
  16. It's an epidemic...now lets hope Rollins enters next lol.
  17. Meh, I think he's replaceable but to assume its a given is a stretch. For every year X Williams, LCJ, etc...there seems to be a Eric Hester, Jeremy Roscoe, Kdahim Gueye. Losing your leading scorer isn't no big deal. Groce & Co has their work cut out for them.
  18. Nice article by GT to start us off!
  19. Feels like both Williams and Segu were there forever, so I don’t necessarily think them leaving is an indictment against the state of Buffalo’s program. I don’t know anything about the center. LCJ left with a year of eligibility and BVP is leaving OU a year after a NCAA tourney win. Sometimes it’s just time to move on whatever the reason may be. With that said, Seems like Buffalo is due to take a big step down unless they hit on the transfer portal. None of their young players stuck out to me.
  20. B&G hit it on the head, but Akron Beacon Journal is the "best" by default. Also you'll see a lot of the interviews in the sense I was talking about on the Akron Zips/Akron Football social media accounts and the Akron Zips youtube channel.
  21. Here we go. I hope interviews, highlights, etc are much more regular than the previous years.
  22. I figured BVP was done with college ball, but this could be just what the doctor ordered. I imagine he's trying to go higher though.
  23. We sort of just did the same with Moorhead
