  1. Lol...boom or bust type there. Kind of like the Browns giving this basketball player a shot.
  2. Updated for the removal of Woobendy Guerrier, Brandon Bischoff, and Joey Marousek as well as the additions of Keylen Davis (since he was announced at the spring game) and Daniel George. Leaves us with an estimated 1 scholarship open, which I presume would go to a QB. We may find out about a few more players leaving at some point, but 247 has a lot of updating to do so we're basically relying off of what we see on twitter at this point. 3. Hester is a nice player who has a chance to earn a scholarship. I don't think he's better than any of the scholarship RB's however, so it'll need to be earned on special teams or if a number of RBs go down ahead of him probably. Just my opinion.
  4. Generally athletic scholarships are renewed on a year by year basis. I guess Akron could do it differently, but whoever made that decision should probably be fired considering our financial situation as a university and the competitiveness of our teams We don't need to be pressured to keep players to avoid a financial burden.
  5. There is no hate. I love a good walk on story. Walk-ons generally are not as talented as scholarship players. If you want to disagree with that statement, I don't know what else to tell you. Grimes is a scholarship player who started off as a walk on.
  6. Seems like no matter what it is, you can't please everyone. Don't f up the colors, keep whatever the come up with for a long time, and perform on the field and I'll be happy. That's whats most important.
  7. Thought on all these walk ons being shown the door: I don't know what our roster size was last year or will be this year (nor do I really care), but it looks like you can have a max of 125 players. No matter what we had in total, the fact is we had an excess number of walk ons on the team in recent years as a result of being well under the scholarship limit. With the new scholarship annual limit moving up to 32 in our situation and not really a mass exodus of scholarship players after the JoeMo signing (thus allowing us to be at the 85 total limit), someone has to go and it makes sense to cut the lowest performing walk ons.
  8. So the roster has all of the walk on transfers as well as Marousek and Bischoff off of it. Cloud is another one we didn't know about. Because of that, I'd think its completely updated as it stands today. I took a look and don't see any other scholarship players missing. Still should probably give it a few days though.
  9. Want to give a few days for the dust to settle for the May 1 deadline so that the NCAA can update the portal and 247 can update theirs then I'll post an update of where we appear to be to see what were able to add before fall camp. I have to imagine activity in the portal will slow down quite a bit until the season as players will now have to sit out this upcoming year if they have not yet entered.
  10. Have to say I was looking forward to hearing more thoughts on the spring game. Bummed I wasn't able to make it.
  11. Not that Dru isn't deserving, but KD historically hasn't shaken things up. Probably a last ditch effort for him to save his job as his contract is up after next season.
  12. Outside of marousek and Bischoff, I see Jake Miller, Bryce Proffitt, Kyle Bischoff, and Connor Francz. All new ones not previously mentioned in here are walkons as far as i know.
  13. Brandon Bischof in as well.
  14. Jonah Morris is available again. lol.
  15. We probably shouldn't assume that it wasn't suggested he leave or he simply wants to go somewhere he'll play (like FCS or D2). We were his only FBS offer and he hasn't came close to sniffing the field in his time here. Considering that, I find it hard to believe he thinks he's going to find another opportunity at the FBS level. I have zero issue with a likely career bench warmer moving on. Best of luck to him.
  16. Portage County Community College. Sometimes referred to as Can't State.
  17. Any players that stuck out in red jerseys? I know I’ve read of Murphy and Boeteng being injured so far this year, but haven’t heard of anyone else. Hopefully a relatively healthy spring campaign,
  18. Whether it’s a prior indication or not, we’re definitely going to be bringing in another one now, hopefully one that can push Irons a little more, and at the very least provide reliable backup depth. May the best man win.
  19. Probably not going to make it today. Looking forward to hearing thoughts for those of you that attend. Go Zips!
  20. Likely because Akron is near the bottom of 247s priorities.
  21. I love his tape (and we all the know the type of competition Massillon plays against) and we are his only FBS offer so far, so you'd have to think it would be us..
  22. I believe he was here 2 years (from Juco) and didn't sniff the field at all on D. A S transferring doesn't surprise me with the late addition of Thompson. Anyone else want to guess positions/names? I'll throw in one TE and one WR based on the Clark and George additions.
  23. This is a fair statement. In addition, we know he recruited Adams from his MSU days and Vic Jones was involved with our S&C coach. Terry and Banks are from Pitt area. With that I said, IDK if there are any connections with Shockey, KJ Martin, Nate Thompson or Banes. I like the quality of guys brought in, but it will be interesting to see their utilization of it going forward.
