  1. Yes. We would all like him to play a little more consistent, but I found other issues on the team to be a bigger problem. We'll get a taste of Undercuffler against MSU and Tenn I'm sure, so we'll get a better feel of who the QB should be going forward based on how both perform. I would like to see some more designed runs for DJ as well, but I think its reasonable that the OL failing to provide adequate pass protection more often than not played a part in the performance.
  2. Random thought, but we were missing what should be 5 starting caliber players on D, and probably at least 2 starters. Amankwaa was our best CB last year and he wasn't dressed, Richardson (who was sent to media day) wasn't dressed, and I don't believe Ravonte Holt was dressed. Robinson & Threatt were both dressed, but I don't believe either played at all (not even special teams IIRC). Wonder what's going on there. Hopefully a couple of those guys can get back and be contributors or starters.
  3. I thought the same in person.
  4. Whether we want it or not, if the line doesn't step up (I am hopeful with the 2nd half play), then we will see #13 this year, as well as potentially the 3rd string QB.
  5. Fortunately 1 game, and even a loss to a lower level team doesn't make or break a season. Northwestern played in the B1G championship the year we beat them. Pitt lost to WMU last year, but won the ACC Championship. Last night was scary but we won. There is no denying we have more depth, experience, talent, better coaching, and better strength from last year. It will take the guys some time to gel. Luckily for us, our first 3 games are pretty predictable and don't mean much for the season. The first real glimpse we'll have at what we'll get come conference play will be vs Liberty...just stay relatively healthy and compete vs MSU and Tennessee in the meantime.
  6. From the article: " Plenty more adversity came their way in the overtime when Irons was sacked on the first play for a 9-yard loss. He responded by finding Jacques-Louis for 28 yards and, two plays later, running back Cam Wiley was in the end zone for the winning score. 7. Is that really the line? I'd buy up to 49 if so just to be safe, but still like it.
  8. Well said @catdaddyp. I agree with many of your points initially, but will rewatch on TV. I noticed Devon Robinson, Cam Threatt, and Clark didn't seem to play at all. Clark doesn't bug me too much at Brank and Banks look good at TE, but would like for Robinson and Threatt to get out there. Both were dressed. Alex Adams didn't play a whole lot...I think he's battling an injury and they err'd on the side of caution for him. Gathings may have had an injury too. Very surprised Wiley was the only RB to get carries. Think the only other RB I saw in there was Price and that was maybe one snap. I really like how the staff is playing starters on special teams. Shockey made a nice play on punt coverage and I noticed George in there too. Kickoff coverage was good.
  9. Win is a win. Lot to clean up....but I think we can still be competitive in MAC play. Bunch of guys playing in a new system playing together in real action for the first time. I also thought St Francis didn't look too bad. Their grave mistake IMO was taking the #4 QB out of the game. He was multi dimensional and we couldn't contain him. Ran the RPO well. On to East Lansing....
  10. Hopefully you'll be able to enjoy the river float! Also the game is on ESPN3, so should be available for replay even without ESPN+ subscription.
  11. The tarps were there last season as well FYI. I think they're fine and would expect they be removed if demand ever warranted it. With that said, I would prefer they were elsewhere (probably the top middle). The band sits on the left and usually the away fans on the right. The first 6 or so rows really aren't prime seats anyways..hard to get a good view of the entire play.
  12. If we were, it would have been in the game notes, but its nowhere to be found.
  13. Does seems to be a real nice get for BG. Hopefully we keep recruiting him because I'm sure he'll decommit once Loeffler gets fired this year.
  14. This guy is a hell of a networker.
  15. Zayden Laing-Taylor's Miami Central team knocked off IMG Academy tonight. Looks like Steele Wasel can run the ball a little bit...
  16. Re Jean Louis III on his recruitment experience:
  17. Its all electronic now @bigjim. Check your emails.
  18. I can already hear the 3rd down bell ringing.
  19. We beat Wright St @ Wright St by 18 last year. SDSU is an intriguing game to a follower of college basketball, but not to Joe Akron. They won 30 games last year, though I think they lost their best player to a bigger program.
  20. Schedule has been released: https://gozips.com/news/2022/8/24/mens-basketball-akron-unveils-2022-23-mens-basketball-schedule.aspx
  21. For those who pay attention to the details....
  22. Excitement is building @clarkwgriswold
  23. Looks like we'll get to play against two former big time Memphis recruits this year. Emoni Bates at EMU and Emmanuel Akot at Western Kentucky.
  24. I spy a #32, last name Nelson @catdaddyp
