Akron Soccer Attendance - 2011
Doug Snyder replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Statistically... you compare the first 5 games last year to the first 5 games this year ….or the average for ALL the games last year to ALL the games this year. Your analysis is flawed....but it probably does not make any difference. It does look like you are manipulating the data for your argument. FYI Here is a question for you. Do you think that the Zips football team would play in front of 66% capacity if they were the defending national champions?? The Soccer team did just that last night. ANSWER: No, odds of hitting 66% are small I'm not making any argument here in this thread, just showing the numbers. Hard to see how they're manipulated when this is all we have to compare with. You have the first 5 home games this year vs first 5 last year, then you have overall. All the data is given so you can make your own statistics if this boggles your mind. If you take only seating into account, Akron soccer is bringing in over 100% attendance for each game. Akron football will never win more than 2 games in a season with Ianello as the coach so why play what if's? Akron Football averaged 16,132 the year after they won the MAC championship and went to the Motor City Bowl. That is only 49% of the Rubber Bowl capacity for that year. BTW your question is flawed. You asked if Akron football would play in front of 66% capacity if they were the defending national champions. They would have to play in front of exactly 66% for the answer to be a yes. Whether they played in front of 80% or 50% wouldn't matter because exactly 66% is what you asked. It is easier to give a no answer given the odds of hitting exactly 66%. LOL You spent 76 words to make that argument about 66%. There were 13 home games (in Akron) last year. No argument in THIS TREAD?? How would one know?? You have been on this attendance crusade all season. Please don't put a list of games up and lots of data, averages and year over year increases if you ARE NOT using it to prove your point. If you expect me to do the math...let me know. You already did......you added up the words of the last argument. LOL Season attendance has grown, soccer is growing. What's not to like about these numbers? I cheated...cut and pasted to MS Word ;-) -

If you included the first 5 games...I missed it and apologize for that part of my post. If you edited it...good job. -

Is aluminum softer than wood?? Maybe this same issue is why we do not get any attendance at the Info. Hmmm... just wondering why some have no problem taking their family to football game but sitting on a wood bench for a basketball game is ridiculous and hard on the back. I always thought people in California were soft....but they fill up St. Mary's arena and it is almost an exact replica of the Jar and nothing about the wood seats is ever said…or I have never heard it. I think there are people in NE Ohio who just like to complain.

Who said that?? Oh yea...YOU. So I am to assume that is your OPINION as I looked it up in the the dictionary and even Googled it and nothing like that came back. Please send me the link if I am mistaken. Wow. I thought we plays to win. I thought we practiced to win. I thought coaches are brought in to win. Apparently my opinion is bunk. No...your opinion is not bunk. But neither is mine. Your reply to my post emphatically stated I was wrong and showed me the correct answer. If you had a son in middle school that was failing in reading...scoring 60% on tests. Would you hire a tutor to help him improve?? If your eventual target was 95% or "A", would you not think there was progress if he scored 65% and then 70% and later 80%?? Or would you fire the tutor and say the goal was 95% and he failed?? The question was "how do you measure progress”. You gave your opinion...I gave mine. I did not say you were wrong....you said I was wrong. It is YOU who are saying my opinion is bunk. Both are valid.

I really think Patrick Nicely is a good guy. QB is a little different than any other position...only one guy gets to play. Responding in a negative manner to you probably would only do more harm as it appears you are related to him in some way. Let him know he has supporters other than family and we wish him the best. A bit of advice...he should transfer out to a D1A program next year where he can play. It may not be in the best interest of the Zips...but will be in his. IMO

Do you think the Browns would have benefited by a little more patience during the Belichick years?? I am not sure if there is one proven method to measure progress. We are going to have a vote on the very issue next November to see if there is enough progress in improving our economy. Unfortunately football is not a truly democratic institution. You can conly vote with your tcket and attendance. Me?? I still support the coach and I see progress. We have a young team that is overmatched on the O-line yet there is discipline and steady improvement. How many penalties did we have today?? How many balls batted down at the line?? We were competitive without our best receiver (Suel) and our best runner (Chisolm) not at 100% and playing only about ½ the time. The special teams have made dramatic improvement. I want to see what this group of guys can do next year with a year of experience and hopefully an improved O-line. The team has not quit…so neither will I. Count me as a supporter of the coach and team (still)

Nice!!!! ZW I thought you made a rule about feeding the trolls.

Me thinks you butted heads with the big linemen once or twice to often.

Bintang??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bintang_Beer Come to Hawaii dude. They sell it at Safeway. Is it legal for you to buy and ship it to me?? I would send you the money in advance.

They lose nothing now if no one goes to the games. As long as they can average 14.5K in paid attendance now the problem will be in the future.

No. A 5 yard catch, with a 20YAC, looks like a "deep" 25 yard completion if you rely on the box score. Yes, I know it was a rhetorical question. A damn good one. You guys got me. Nothing gets by you two. The really interesting thing is how they were able to exclude the YAC in last year's figures but bt are unable to do it this year. Team TY........13.1 Team LY.........10.7 So PN7 had YPC of 10.7 last year and Moore's #s include YAC. If we make the adjustment suggested by CK (80% of yards are YAC. 5 yard pass and 20 yard run) would mean Moore is averaging only 2.6. I am not sure what impact the receivers have on the statistic...we all know they could not run routes and could not catch last year. Let's just ignore that for this analysis. So...in conclusion... PN7 wins with a 10.7 yards per completion vs Moore's 2.6. Looks like you win this one. Damn!!!!!

You look at statistics. I look at the game. Since you saw me at the game...I am assuming you think I spend my time hitting on the chicks at the game instead of looking at the game being played. Trust me…not that many chicks in my section and it is doubtful they would be interested if there were. I do nod off occasionally tho

It isn't asking too much to see a D-1 QB throw a nice deep ball. You don't need to be Favre or Marino. Or thread the pass through a donut hole. LR8 hasn't thrown any decent deep pass this season. That lack of a deep threat hurts our offense. I don't care if he's throwing late...gets too much air under the ball...throws it too short...<insert whatever deficiency here>. He's shown no ability to stretch the defense thusfar. http://www.gozips.com/sports/fball/2011-12...ts/teamcume.htm EMU: Longest Reception 36 yrds, Average yard per throw (including those batted down at line) 5.54 VMI: LR 41, AYPT 7.96 Cincy: LR 51, AYPT 7.10 Average yards per reception: Sconiers........17.5 Suel..............15.9 Russell...........18.2 Team............13.1 Team LY.........10.7 We look at statistics and come up with different conclusions.

As far as I know Tank is right on the money of his assessment as to why Holmes sat in the second half. I did not see Tank's assessment in this thread. Where can I find it??
-
PN7 is CK guy?? You have been a strong and vocal supporter even before the beginning of last season.
-
I have been at the games and the underthrown balls were 45+ yards down field. Rather than underthrown...I think the ball was thrown a second to late. If you think we are going to get someone to make pinpoint passes 55-60 yards down field...we better be looking for the next Marino or Favre.

After reading this thread, I'm beating my head against the wall too.....thinking about how we let two guys be at the forefront of our football program for several years who have done nothing more than coach at the D-II level ever since. That's all the affirmation I need. And their two D2 teams would probably beat the Zips this year. What does that affirm skip? That you believe that a D-II team could beat the Zips ? LOL It always makes me smile when someone make an outrageous comment, assumes it to be true and then wants to make inferences about it. I called it "pre-crime" with my first wife. I did nothing but would get killed on some outrageous thought that would get assumed to be real. So...now we are not only beating up ICoach for losing to GW...we are beating him up for losing to Wayne State and Ashland. LOL

He was probably coaching 3rd base....that was how it was done back then. My guess is that he was to busy laughing his arse off. I am sure my coach (Joe Herman...one of my favorite people of all time) was chucling under his breath too.

Backing down is not in my DNA. Overly optimistic and sometimes "Stupid" are!!

There was a baseball game that I remember to try and keep me from doing/saying stupid things. I was the catcher for Jackson and we were playing Perry...a cocky group we hated with a passion. We had a young sophomore on the mound and he was taking a beating from the Perry bench. The batter at the plate was their best player and he CRUSHED a ball just foul down the left field line. Their bench went wild and loudly was calling for the pitcher to tell them "the next pitch was not going out". Well...only 3 balls were ever hit over that fence in my 4 years...including practice when guys would go for it. It was not a fence for baseball but the fence to the football field…a very long ways away. So... I walked over in front of their bench, took my mask off and told them “the next pitch was not going out”. They shut up and returned to their bench. Not a peep was heard on the next pitch. So... My prediction this week is that the Zips win. The young kids will make fewer mistakes at home and AJ Price will have a big day. Moore has made steady improvement since the Cincy game and has yet to come close to a turnover…I think he is learning how to manage a game at this level and I think he steps up and has a big game. I won't predict the score...but I will go out on a limb and say the Zips will win. ...back to the Perry game. Unfortunately....the next pitch WAS hit out over that fence. It was one of the 3 that was hit over it. The good thing was the Perry bench no longer heckled our young pitcher...that was saved for me. I hope I don't have to relive that moment on Saturday.

It will cost at least 1.5 million to do what you suggest. If we can round up 200 like minded fans, would you join in and kick in $7,500.00 to make it happen?? Obviously, if we can't get 200 like minded fans...your portion may increase. If we can find 2000....then it will only cost you $750.00. I am guessing it will be closer to the $7,500.00 You in????
