Script Akron is excellent. What I don't like is the white on white numbers with a very thin blue outline. Can be hard to see especially on crappy video feeds...

Any news on video for this game?

Frustrating loss, but good game to watch. I would have liked to see our leading scorer and rebounder on the floor for at the end. I agree with getting Deji the ball and letting him create, but Pat would have been a nice #2 option and for following up a miss. Unless I am mistaken he was on the bench for the last play.

Can't make the trek, and live in Canton without TW Cable so we don't get TW Cable sports channel. Anyone know area bars/restaurants that show games from this network?

I would absolutely give up my season tickets and move upstairs if we had student support like that, incredibly cool.

Congratulations Zips Men's Basketball Team!
doccomet87 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Great regular season, love MAC basketball and the MAC championship, GO ZIPS! Congratulations! -
I want to see more middle teams in the power conferences, those 6th-8th teams in the ACC, SEC Big 10 or Big East that get at large bids. I think we will be competitive with them and might get a look when comparing two teams for one at large spot. I also think these teams should be included in Bracket buster games, but I don't think that will ever happen, they have too much to lose.

Elton's stumping for UA/Can't State/CSU/YSU
doccomet87 replied to MDZip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I'd love a MAC vs Ohio challenge6 Ohio MAC teams vs 6 other Div 1 teams in Ohio (minus OSU)MACUACan't StateBGSUMiamiOUToledoOthersWright St.CSUDaytonYSUUCXavierI would abandon the idea of getting OSU to participate. Rank them by RPI as I can't think of a better way. I'd pay to see it, regardless of what it did for us in the rankings. -
Seriously, in 2009, why do you have to choose? DVR the Browns and come to the Zips, then go home and avoid all the crap between Harrison's runs and Cribbs' returns. Watched the entire Browns game in just under 1:45 today (and have been under 90 minutes for some of the worst games). Technology is a wonderful thing!

As a physician, if he has been healthy there would be no reason to investigate the possibility of a solitary kidney, this is an uncommon but not rare condition. What truly concerns me is the idea of petitioning for a 6th year. With only one organ of a pair congenitally, if that kidney is injured, there is not anotehr to pick up the slack, meaning dialysis. Its one thing when you don't know, its another when the information becomes known. I would not play any collision sport or let my child play with only one of a paired organ. The risk of injury is apparently uncommon to rare (Am J Sports Med January 2008 vol. 36 no. 1 85-90 ), but could be catastrophic.I loved watching him play, and he truly has my condolences. The Can't State rivalry is one of the best things going at UA and anything that takes away from it hurts UA as well.

Best experience on campus in my history at UA.2 small areas for improvement.1. Sold out of programs 3 minutes into 1st quarter, could have anticipated more of a demand for this for stadium opener.2. Please consider recycling bins with garbage cans, bottled drinks can be recycled.Otherwise, yesterday a dream come true!

Josh Egner Commit Thread
doccomet87 replied to ZipAnalyst's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
have followed the Polar Bears as I live in Jackson, Egner will be strong, athleticism improvement over last two years is outstanding, and he is fundamentally sound. I believe he is physically ahead of his teammamte Henninger, who is more polished skill-wise right now, but the future upside for Egner is higher. Glad to see him become a Zip, I don't think the nation will be disappointed. -
What about the importance of success on a national stage like Bracket Buster saturday? The highlights of this game will be all over the ESPN channels, granted for only this day, but not looking past this year and the MAC tournament to consider how this affects recruiting, media attention, and respect for the MAC in general and the program specifically I think is short sighted. I want J Wood in the game if he is medically able to go, and being a family doc with an interest in Sports Med, I have to trust that the medical eval has been sound and J Wood knows his body and they can make a mutual decision. That said, I also can't wait for this game because VCU is the real deal, and they are coming to our house.

From the cumulative stats page on gozips.comI feel that second half scoring and penalty yards are two of the more telling stats regarding coaching issues versus player performance. I also would like to see JD stay, but the third quarter scoring stat and the penalties need to be improved by the coaching staff with halftime adjustments and atteention to detail with the penalties. Just some numbers to help a little more objectively evaluate a coaching performance from my perspective.  and Can't State sucksSCORE BY QUARTERS 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Total-------------------- --- --- --- --- ---Akron............... 51 90 37 76 - 254Opponents........... 64 70 102 114 - 350 UA // OpponentsPENALTIES-YARDS............... 84-635 67-598 Average Per Game............ 52.9 49.8

Patriot Bowl seats for Season Tix holders
doccomet87 replied to doccomet87's topic in Akron Zips Football
I respectfully disagree, the eating of 100 bucks (5tixX20extra for the upgrade) by UA would probably have nettted them an extra thousand in my giving this year. Its not about being never being satisfied, but when you are donating between 3 and 5 grand a year and the school stiffs you over $100 for better seats at a nice venue, it shows where you rank, and again seems shortsighted. If you think other universities don't do this for their contributing alumni and season ticket holders then you haven't done your homework. -
Patriot Bowl seats for Season Tix holders
doccomet87 replied to doccomet87's topic in Akron Zips Football
not to be arrogant, but the season ticket holders are also often the donators of additional monies to the university athletic department, and I can only speak for myself, but the nicer they treat me in these decisions the more I usually give. It is short sighted to think of money only generated by ticket sales and not by other contributions made by alumni and season ticket holders. -
I just recieved my season tickets for 2007. I bought 5 for my family. I can't believe that our tix for the Patriot Bowl are in section 129 at Browns stadium. Aren't the Zips considered the home team for this? As such I would think the tix for season ticket holders would be in a better location than goal line/corner. Who else is going to fill the seats between the twenties? If this is the way they treat season ticket holders trying to get their kids excited about the Zips, I'm not sure I'll still be a tix holder by the time they want to fill the new stadium. On a side note, they split my 5 tix for the season at the Rubber bowl 3 and 2, 9 rows apart, I guess I'll just leave my 11,9 and 6 year old kids to fend for themselves while I sit with my wife.

Travis will play in Portsmouth on April 4-7
doccomet87 replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Travis does not have NBA talent for his size and the position he would have to play. that being said I feel he has the athletic ability and size to grow into an effective NFL either tight end or defensive end ( he was all state in football in HS). I think following Antonio Gates' path is where his professional athletic chances lie. -
Letter To Coach Dambrot, Coaches & Team.
doccomet87 replied to Zip Watcher's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
for my wife, 3 kids and especially myself, thanks for everything this year. Sign us up for our season tix again for the foreseeable future!! GO ZIPS! -
I have to tell you, although no points, John Rybak was a major contributor last night on D and on the boards. I think that will help with confidence and his offense will improve. I'm not willing, after last night, to give up on this kid. I think we may have seen a breakthrough night for him. Of course I was going to say the same thing about Conyers from thursday's game, but he looked back to old form last night. Here's to some young guys contributing in the Championship tonight. And as always

Thanks Rowdyzip, and I hate to disappoint, but there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity, and unless things take a sudden unexpected turn for the better, traveling would fall on the wrong side of that line. I'll have my kids and wife screaming at the TV.
-
I'm a season ticket holder and haven't missed a home game in 2 years, but there's no way I'm trying to go up today, the roads down here in Canton are abysmal (for you OU fans that means really bad) irregardless of the TV availability. Those who can make it please give Bubba the crap he so richly deserves.
-
I'm no Needle fan, I think he's terrible, but is he any worse than Frenchie? There really is no bigger homer than Steve French for the Zips. And of course
-
can they both lose? Zips just keep winning and it doesn't matter...all this talk for what? Win out and sweep the tourney, job done. I don't like to watch the board, just take care of your own business every night. Just like we can't change the Bracket Buster set up. I honestly could care less the outcome of the Rockets-Bubbacats matchup.
