  1. Very special young man. Akron has been blessed to have this amazing, kind, thoughtful young man on campus for the last 4 years. It takes amazing courage, big dreams, great values, a tireless desire to be the best , and a huge heart to leave your family and a beautiful city of 14 million to come to Akron to expand his education and to play championship quality soccer. ADMIRATION and RESPECT.

  5. there is one other MAC player on list besides Cicerone and Danilo Jack Elliot from West Virginia (from London , England)
  6. Zip_ME87 correctly lauded Brad for being in the UA Honors college. As a business grad from U of A(a long time ago), I wanted to point out that in the 2015-2016 calendar year...Victor Souto was selected for Beta Gamma Sigma, a prestigious business school honor society. Victor was the only non-american born person selected to join Beta Gama Sigma in 2015-2016. (as ZIP_ME87 said, Victor is a long way from home and taking classes in his second language. As a business school grad, I greatly respect and admire Victor for his achievements in the business school classrooms.
  7. http://www.gozips.com/general/2016-17/photos/0004/index#PhotoSwipe1481655206993 they had an event to honor the 27 student athletes graduating this weekend. Kudos to Zip_ME87 for finding the article. Hopefully, I have attached photos from the event. Brad Ruhaak, Victor Souto and Danilo Radjen will all graduate this weekend. Danilo is pictured in his cap and gown and also in a photo with the AD. Victor has a photo in his cap and gown and also in a photo with the AD. Brad might have been taking a final during the event. These 3 young men have consistently made the MAC all academic team with GPA's between 3.5 and 3.85. I have no doubt that there is not a single sport that can match those excellent academic records put up by these 3 soccer student athletes. Congratulations to these outstanding student athletes and best wishes for their futures.
  8. http://pressbox.mlssoccer.com/content/2016-expansion-draft-protected-and-unprotected-players several zips are included in the 11 protected and several zips are protected due to being home grown or generation adidas
  9. http://www.midwestprocombine.com/players/ Looks like Brad Ruhaak will be at the inaugural Midwest pro soccer combine on Dec. 19-20....working hard to make a good impression to start his pro career. The MLS soccer combine is scheduled for Jan. 7-12 in Los Angeles. MLS super draft is Jan. 13 also in Los Angeles. I don't know if Adam will be at the draft/combine as I don't know if he is still considered NYRB homegrown. I would think that Adam Najem. Victor Souto, Brad Ruhaak, and Danilo Radjen all deserve an invite to the MLS combine if the 4 of them are interested in pursuing a career in MLS. Thank you to all 4 "zips forever" mentioned above for everything that they did for the University of akron and zips soccer and good luck to all 4 if they choose to pursue a pro career.
  10. article on top drawer soccer.....blamed the floods that hit Houston no argument....that the field was horrible
  11. and the really sad part in your comparison.....is that San Jose had very little time to promote the event... the womens college cup was scheduled to be in Cary, NC.....until sometime in the early fall....when the NCAA moved the event out of NC....due to the trans gender bathroom debate San Jose did not even know that they would host at the beginning of September.
  12. Only 1 goal keeper is able to get playing time. I think that every one expected that at least 1 of last year's 4 goal keepers would transfer. I never had a chance to see Jeremy play. Zip_ME87 was nice enough to introduce me to Jeremy's parents before the Georgetown game. His parents are very nice people and they were very nice to me when I saw them the next weekend before the San Diego State game. I hope that the rumor is not true but I wish Jeremy and his family nothing but the best if he opts to transfer to get a lot of playing time.
  13. Congratulations to Jonathan Lewis http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/ramos-names-20-player-roster-for-costa-rica_aid41153
  14. Congratulations to Brad. Akron soccer has some outstanding student athletes.
  15. http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2016/11/22/13709434/jurgen-klinsmann-usmnt-bruce-arena-players Darlington and DeAndre both mentioned in the article
  16. I have a feeling that Sam is going to score a huge goal today. Go, zips!!

  18. http://iuhoosiers.com/news/2016/11/19/mens-soccer-no-4-indiana-hosts-no-23-akron-in-ncaa-tournament-on-sunday.aspx writeup from the IU sports dept two ways to look at the history....I like the recent history before 2009, the Hoosiers had a 24-3-2 record against the zips from 2009 to present day, the Hoosiers are 0-4-0 against the zips Head coach Embick is 1-0-0 against the Hoosiers
  19. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-ncaa-tournament:-second-round-preview_aid41028 I think that top drawer soccer writer J.R. Esklison predicted a 2-0 win for the zips in the first round. In the link above, the same writer makes his choices for the 16 games on Sunday.
  20. http://www.idsnews.com/article/2016/11/iu-mens-soccer-to-host-akron-in-ncaa-tournament The Zips started the season in the top 10 but have since fallen out of the rankings altogether. If there is anything to relate the two sides, it is that IU senior Phil Fives spent two seasons in Akron playing for the Zips. “I’m super excited,” Fives said on the chance to play his former team. “They’re a great program — a lot of good talent there. We were actually talking before the selection that it might end up like this. This is a great opportunity to show the nation what we got and
step up.”
