http://www.midwestprocombine.com/players/ Looks like Brad Ruhaak will be at the inaugural Midwest pro soccer combine on Dec. 19-20....working hard to make a good impression to start his pro career. The MLS soccer combine is scheduled for Jan. 7-12 in Los Angeles. MLS super draft is Jan. 13 also in Los Angeles. I don't know if Adam will be at the draft/combine as I don't know if he is still considered NYRB homegrown. I would think that Adam Najem. Victor Souto, Brad Ruhaak, and Danilo Radjen all deserve an invite to the MLS combine if the 4 of them are interested in pursuing a career in MLS. Thank you to all 4 "zips forever" mentioned above for everything that they did for the University of akron and zips soccer and good luck to all 4 if they choose to pursue a pro career.

and the really sad part in your comparison.....is that San Jose had very little time to promote the event... the womens college cup was scheduled to be in Cary, NC.....until sometime in the early fall....when the NCAA moved the event out of NC....due to the trans gender bathroom debate San Jose did not even know that they would host at the beginning of September. -
2017 Zips soccer recruiting
TennZip replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Only 1 goal keeper is able to get playing time. I think that every one expected that at least 1 of last year's 4 goal keepers would transfer. I never had a chance to see Jeremy play. Zip_ME87 was nice enough to introduce me to Jeremy's parents before the Georgetown game. His parents are very nice people and they were very nice to me when I saw them the next weekend before the San Diego State game. I hope that the rumor is not true but I wish Jeremy and his family nothing but the best if he opts to transfer to get a lot of playing time. -
Congratulations to Brad. Akron soccer has some outstanding student athletes.

http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-ncaa-tournament:-second-round-preview_aid41028 I think that top drawer soccer writer J.R. Esklison predicted a 2-0 win for the zips in the first round. In the link above, the same writer makes his choices for the 16 games on Sunday.

http://www.idsnews.com/article/2016/11/iu-mens-soccer-to-host-akron-in-ncaa-tournament The Zips started the season in the top 10 but have since fallen out of the rankings altogether. If there is anything to relate the two sides, it is that IU senior Phil Fives spent two seasons in Akron playing for the Zips. “I’m super excited,” Fives said on the chance to play his former team. “They’re a great program — a lot of good talent there. We were actually talking before the selection that it might end up like this. This is a great opportunity to show the nation what we got and step up.”

I do appreciate Marla covering the zips and giving them some good publicity. I am very happy that the team is playing so well. I would have preferred that her article focus on the current players rather than focusing on one event that occurred in September. Stuart, Sam, and Danilo have all missed significant time this year with injuries so it is not fair to blame one student athlete for the growing pains that this team has experienced. I hope that the zips have a great win today but I am also very appreciative of how hard that Victor Souto competed for the zips and for everything that Victor has done for Akron soccer and the university over the last 4 years. -

The 2016 Bracket Challenge
TennZip replied to fknbuflobo's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I hope that they are all correct. I lived and worked in Bloomington, IN for 8.5 years when I was much younger. Have been to many Akron at Indiana soccer games. Those were of course in the Jerry Yeagley era so the zips are due for some payback. -
many photos and quotes from Coach and the captains and to show my poor knowledge of soccer, it says that goncalo is playing midfield in 3-4-3....yesterday, I said that he was doing well as a right DB what ever works.....works....for me....Goncalo and Nick are doing well in the new formation http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/ua-men-s-soccer-zips-will-host-villanova-in-first-round-of-ncaa-tournament-1.727118

NCAA Bound - Congratulations
TennZip replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I have sympathy for those who have tickets to both. There are plenty of soccer season ticket holders who already bought tickets for all 3 post season games... their cost is sunk...just as much as the basketball season ticket holders Some people are going to have to choose. This is the NCAA tournament. Scheduling the match after the normal working day will allow the zips the best chance to get the best crowd that they can get. Heck, Keith Dambrot is famous for how much that he travels to zips soccer road matches. I hate that he will have to miss the match. As I said in my first note in this topic, zips soccer is the best sports program on the campus and elicits the most pride from its fan base.. This program deserves first class night time attendance.
