  2. Congratulations to the humble Michael Nanchoff
  3. the zips actual sports web site....actually has an article on the next 2 spring games....alas, they don't even mention that the games were originally scheduled for Saturday night in Akron. I will be kind and say that I have seen much better sports info directors than the SID for Akron mens soccer. I guess he must think that all Akron soccer games religiously check the zips soccer twitter account? Men's Soccer Continues Exhibition Season Battling Cleveland State/Slippery Rock AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's soccer team continues exhibition action this Sunday, April 10, as the Zips will travel to Cleveland State to battle the host Vikings and Slippery Rock in a pair of games. Akron will square off against Cleveland State at 1 p.m. inside the practice bubble at Krenzler Field before facing Slippery Rock at 3:30 p.m.
  4. ME87....thanks much for the heads up on the change... that is very nice of Cleveland state to schedule that quickly and to let Akron and Slippery Rock play the 2nd game in the Cleveland State "bubble"
  5. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1110/major-league-soccer/2016/04/01/21922842/earthquakes-acquire-kofi-sarkodie-from-houston this link has a short video...where they ask Kofi 3 questions
  6. http://www.houstondynamo.com/post/2016/04/01/houston-dynamo-acquire-targeted-allocation-money-san-jose-earthquakes credit to Zip_ME87 for finding that Kofi was traded to the san Jose Earthquakes. very nice twitter post from the Houston Dyanmo
  7. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/03/30/usa-player-ratings-v-guatemala-deandre-yedlin-and-geoff-cameron/ I just looked for news stories on DeAndre. This site has DeAndre as the 2nd highest rated player on Tuesday night for the USMNT. He really did play exceptionally well. The writer gave exceptionally tough grades as Cameron was an 8 and DeAndre was a 7.5. DeAndre defended well and as pointed out above, was vital in setting up the 3rd goal. On an Akron related note, Travis Clark of Top Drawer soccer (when he saw the starting linuep) tweeted something to the effect of "what does Darlington Nagbe need to do to get a spot in the starting lineup, Grow wings?" Travis Clark has always been a huge Darlington fan.
  8. http://www.ohio.com/writers/marla-ridenour/role-of-ex-zip-deandre-yedlin-part-of-criticism-of-u-s-soccer-coach-jurgen-klinsmann-1.672595 beacon has article about DeAndre
  9. that is great..... thank you very much I now can say confidently ...that Victor Souto and Jesus Perez can do a great job if they are our 6 and 8 players
  10. The article also obviously mentions Adam Najem. Travis Clarke of Top Drawer soccer has previously said that Adam will not be back. ZTV (ziptv) twitter has said that Adam will not be back. Again, I do not know who wrote this article. I hope this writer has more current info than Travis Clarke. All zip fans would love to see Adam back on the cub cadet field in the fall. Adam is an excellent student and is a leader and as Creighton soccer remembers...Adam is great on free kicks. I hope that this article is correct about Adam returning.
  11. http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index.php/recruiting-team-recruiting/2016-team-reviews/913-akron-2016-team-and-recruiting-class-review This does not identify who wrote the article. The writer still shows Jesse Garcia as a member of the zips and that is obviously wrong. They show Goncalo Soares as a forward and we know that Goncalo mostly played last year as a defensive midfielder. Andrew Souders is referred to in one part of the article as Andrew Sounders and another time, he is shown as just Andrew Sounder. I am going to show my poor technical soccer knowledge and ask for some help from fknbuflobo or someone else who is very knowledgeable about the soccer position terminology. I think of midfielders as either defensive or holding midfielders like Victor(or Perry Kitchen in the championship year) or offense or up front midfielders....like Adam or Richie last year or "ampai" in the glory years. This article says that Jesus Perez can play the 6 position or the 8 position. What does a 6 position player do and what is a 8 position player supposed to do?
  12. tweet from top drawer soccer
  13. top drawer soccer writer was impressed with Wil in the first 30 minutes of the game
  14. I looked at tv guide today for all of the espn channels and could not find either US soccer game today.... so then I went to soccerbyives.com.....who always has a soccer on tv article on friday thank you, ives for helping me find both games wil and dillon's game on at 5 eastern on fox sports 1 OLYMPICS QUALIFYING 5 p.m. — Fox Sports 1/Fox Sports Go/Fox Soccer 2Go/Univision Deportes — Colombia vs. United States deandre and darlington's game at 10 eastern on Bein....if you have the premium sports channels...that is 620 on directv WORLD CUP QUALIFYING 10:06 p.m. — beIN Sports USA/beIN Sports Connect/NBC Universo/NBC Deportes en Vivo Extra — Guatemala vs. United States and finally, soccer by ives...projects Wil in the starting lineup...and they say that #6 is a leader on and off the field http://sbisoccer.com/2016/03/who-should-the-u-s-u-23s-start-vs-colombia
  15. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/the91stminute/2016/03/three-tactical-possibilities-for-the-u-s-23s-against-colombia/?utm_source=TopDrawerSoccer+Newsletter&utm_campaign=2e0abaef1d-General_3_25_163_24_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8340315a79-2e0abaef1d-32963477 this writer projects 3 possible starting lineups...He has both zips in the starting lineup...that he thinks that Herzog will go with
  16. Nicholas Hinds is mentioned at the end of this article. I am looking forward to watching Nicholas join the back line in the fall. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/usl:-young-players-to-watch-in-2016_aid39019
  17. in today's 3rd and final game, it looks like Emmanuel was subbed in at the 60 minute mark tweet from baby nats abroad: 60' Subs - Sabbi on for Saucedo, Yueill on for Acosta. I did not get home from work and start watching until the 67th minute. They had Emmanuel playing the middle of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 position. I saw Emmanuel make one good tackle which resulted in a takeaway and could hear someone yell "great effort, Sabbi.". 2.5 minutes Into Stoppage time with the US leading 3-2, Emmanuel had a good run with the ball up the field...but he was 1 on 4....so he was very unselfish and did not try to score and just tried to use up clock. Baby nats abroad tweeted that he was clearly fouled and the German team took the ball and went up and scored shortly before time ran out. Emmanuel might have received a yellow card when he was trying to steal the ball while I was watching (camera was very far away and video was terrible). I did see him make 2 unselfish passes. here is what baby nats abroad tweeted: It ends 3-3 after a horrendous offisides call and then a no-call after Sabbi was clearly fouled. TSG then took it up and equalized. in the 3 games, Emmanuel played 20 minutes, 90 minutes and 30 minutes plus stoppage time.....so over 140 minutes out of a possible 270 and change many of the other forwards have already played in college...Elney from Maryland and Ebobisse from Duke started in the first game. The little I saw today....showed a player who was willing to pass and willing to play defense. I did not get to see Emmanuel much with the ball on the move....but I am very much looking forward to this young man and the other outstanding Akron recruits in the fall.
  18. Looks like Emmanuel right now is one of the 6 young men in the running for the top drawer soccer 18 and under soccer player of the year. As a zip fan, I am very glad that two members of the Chicago Magic team (Jesus Perez and Emmanuel Sabbi) will be continuing to build on their teamwork and success as Akron Zips in the fall. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/club-poty:-sanchez-sabbi-go-international_aid39013
  19. I just posted the lineup with numbers above....so it looks like John Nelson from Medina is #13 and is right next to Emmanuel in the front row.
  20. http://www.ussoccer.com/us-under20-mens-national-team/tournaments/2016-u20mnt-dallas-cup/160321-u20mnt-v-fulham-fc#tab-1 looks like Emmanuel played the entire game....with the exception of extra stoppage time Lineups: USA: 12-JT Marcinkowski; 23-Matt Olosunde, 14-Auston Trusty, 5-Tommy Redding, 13-John Nelson; 21-Sebastian Saucedo (17-Amir Bashti, 79), 18-Jackson Yueill (6-Danny Acosta, 90+1), 16-Cameron Lindley (capt.), 11-Josh Perez (20-Jeremy Ebobisse, 64); 10-Emmanuel Sabbi (2-Aaron Herrera, 90+1), 9-Victor Mansaray Substitutions Not Used: 1-Jonathan Klinsmann, 4-Miles Robinson, 15-Andrew Lombard Not Dressed: 3-Marcello Borges, 7-Brooks Lennon, 8-Eryk Williamson, 19-Sebasitan Elney Head coach: Omid Namazi

  22. Starting lineup for the u-20 game yesterday. Emmanuel Sabbi is #10 in the middle of the front row. Emmanuel, congratulations on the goal yesterday and all of zipsnation is very much looking forward to watching you do very well next fall as an Akron zip.
  23. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/late-winner-guides-fulham-over-us-u20s_aid39009 Emmanuel Sabbi mentioned several times in the article Emmanuel is #10 in the photo below.
  24. I have not seen a lineup yet for today's under 20 game...(2nd game against Fulham) here is a writeup from the other team's webiste on how Emmanuel Sabbi scorred: The US, though, went in front in the 17th minute when a corner was only partially cleared and a striker fired home. looks like Emmanuel played the last 20 minutes against Monterrey in the first game. Lineups: USA: 1-Jonathan Klinnsman; 2-Aaron Herrera, 4-Miles Robinson, 15-Andrew Lombard, 3-Marcello Borges (13-John Nelson, 83); 7-Brooks Lennon (11-Josh Perez, 82), 8-Eryk Williamson, 6-Danny Acosta, 17-Amir Bashti (18-Jackson Yueill, 71); 19-Sebastian Elney (10-Emmanuel Sabbi, 70), 20-Jeremy Ebobisse Substitutions Not Used: 12-JT Marcinkowski, 14-Auston Trusty, 23-Matt Olosunde Not Dressed: 5-Tommy Redding, 9-Victor Mansaray, 16-Cameron Lindley, 21-Sebastian Saucedo Head coach: Tab Ramos
