I don't have any easy answers .....on how to improve attendance at Men's soccer games.... Here are some numbers....that might prompt discussion. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Obviously, having a fantastic , unbeatable team is the best way to get butts in the stands. Before I present the numbers, I want to point out that the 2018 team was #2 in pre season rankings. I also have listed the day of the week when games were played as I thought that high school football might have an impact on attendance. Akron Zips Home attendance for season opening soccer games 2018 2,579 on a Friday night 2019 1,630 on a Friday night 2020 covid 2021 1,580 on a Thursday night 2022 1,488 on a Monday night 2023 1,174 on a Thursday night 1,405 person drop in attendance from opening game 2018 to opening game 2023

Akron looked really good tonight against Niagara Akron must have had a real off night last saturday at Oakland Oakland opened their season tonight at highly rated Marshall Oakland was absolutely mauled tonight by Marshall Marshall won 4-0 Marshall led 12-0 in shots on goal and Marshall led 29-5 in total shots

The newcomer that I was most impressed by....was Alejandro "Nano" Varela. He appears to be an outstanding ball winner....and does very well with the ball at his feet. Nano looks like a great addition to the zips midfield.

Chad Welker said that Jared got a red card after the 2022 NCAA tournament game against Pittsburgh...was over Welker says that Jared is serving a one game suspension. I have been told that Nanchoff is also serving a one game suspension

both transfers from Keiser University are in the starting lineup last year left back starter Ashton Kamdem not in the starting lineup I wonder if last year goal keeper Mitch Budler is injured.

Oakland men's soccer main schedule page shows the final score as Oakland 3-1 score must have been 3-1 after 90 minutes of normal regulation time. Akron 2nd goal must have come in extra 30 minutes of play when 2nd and 3rd stringers took the field. Very disappointing result from the Zips. Oakland scored no goals when they played a very poor Chicago State team. Oakland scored 3 goals in 90 minutes of regulation against the zips.

Oakland had a record of 4-10-5 last year In their first exhibition game on aug. 11, Oakland played last year MAC cellar dweller Chicago State to a 0-0 tie. in their 2nd exhibition game last night at Columbus, Oakland lost 3-1 to the Buckeyes

The Big East must have some incredible defensive backs in the league...if Joel Sangwa is not on their pre season first team. Joel Sangwa is very , very good. So solid....Very glad that Joel Sangwa plays for the zips.

Akron favored against Mighty Notre Dame. This is a must see game.
