  1. The line started at Redhawks -16.5, but is currently down to -14.5. Miami should be feeling more confident after blowing away U@B last week. Can the Zip offense sustain the momentum it seemed to be gathering in the 2nd half vs. CMU for an entire game?
  2. I agree with the general sentiment of this thread. Most of us (myself included) were so focused in the 2-PT decisions that we may have forgotten the many positives that we witnessed yesterday. I'll add these:1) I know CMU plays 2 true FR at DL, but the O-line pass protected as well as it has all year yesterday. Special props to Adam Bice whose pistol snaps were almost all right on the money in spite of him using his off (left) hand.2) I kept wondering why The Chisel was sitting the last few drives and I surmised that Alexander might be better at picking up the blitz. Soon after, #2 confirmed this thought with several excellent blocks that were CRUCIAL during the last drive.3) Moore had his best game, by far, as a Zip. A lot of this has to do with point 1), but he still made a lot of plays when they were needed. His pocket presence was MUCH better.4) Suel is right back playing at the high level we saw before his injury.5) Ladrach had the best game for a Zip TE since Richard Hall last year. I don't fault him for the missed opportunity in the end zone. The pass was just a little too high IMO.6) The defense really stepped up when needed them to yesterday against an offense that has clearly shown itself to be capable throughout this season. #34 was everywhere as usual, but Wilson also played big and Little made a huge stop on third down.7) AJ Fox is looking more and more like "money" on FGs and extra points plus his kickoffs have improved as well.8) Price had a couple of decent punt returns. I don't recall many of these this year.Given what I saw yesterday, I'm actually bumping up (slightly) the chances that Rob will eventually turn the program around. It's still somewhat of a longshot IMO, but I moved the chances up to 15%. In order to provide some perspective, I had this probability at around 40% to open the season. It had slipped to around 10% after the OU game.BTW, I didn't mind the second 2-PT decision too badly (although I liked our chances in OT better) but I agree with Skip that circumstances should have dictated taking the decision away from Zach Campbell after the 1st TD. Hopefully the staff will learn from this.
  3. No NEW beers for me to add (will have a few for K.E.N.T.), but I did want to post some tailgating and game pictures from yesterday. It was fantastic seeing Dreal and his wife once again and a special shout out to gozips19 and his girlfriend for the chance to get down on the field
  4. +1 (except for the NCAA 12 part-the last version I have is 2005 lol)
  5. Do you have an accompanying list for the Washington Generals? Yeah, just look up Can't State alumni. good one!
  6. Gaffney's article on CMU makes me think The Chisel will get his yards tomorrow. I'll go with 144 YDS and a TD.Like Zach mentioned a while back, there are some strange parallels with these two programs right now.
  7. Nice job!
  8. Piss away, MDZip. Welcome to the club. I have spent all day studying in an area of the country where it has already started snowing!Yeah, but you can always saunter down to the ORIGINAL Primanti's whenever you get a hankering for fries and slaw on your sandwich I'm living in Scranton now though. :/ No more Primanti's for me for a while. Bummer. I'll skip the Dunder Mifflin jokes.
  9. Looks like it's WVU and not Louisville headed to the Big 12.
  10. God Bless The ProcessLet's all raise a glass to the process!! I'll be working on my Lot 9 coping process at around 10:00 am tomorrow. At least the game time forecast has improved :CK_brew:I'll go ahead and make my prediction:Chipps 37Zips 27
  11. Preview from the Chipp's perspective

  13. Do you have an accompanying list for the Washington Generals?
  14. The decision on whether to redshirt him or not certainly just became much tougher. I’m sure a lot will depend on how the other backup PGs perform early in the schedule. Unless their performance is horrendous, I’d be hesitant to possibly rush his rehabilitation and risk prolonging or exacerbating the injury. If the backup PG play is at least “acceptable”, I’d lean toward the redshirt.
  15. It's an interesting thought. But don't you think it's more likely they would end up back in Conference USA for soccer? They'd probably want to be in with more traditional rivals like Kentucky, Memphis etc. Although an Akron/Louisville soccer rivalry has a lot going for it, I'm not sure any other MAC programs have that appeal for the Cardinals.
  16. Can we have Mr. Suomi serve on our next football coach search committee?
  17. Will he be able to see them with his current helmet? (I'm half kidding)When you scramble, shouldn't you be able to look down field? Equipment manager is KILLING us.
  18. Gaffney article on the return of Bice and Kasparek, as well as a preview of the CMU game. This shapes up to be a high scoring game, although the weather might tone that down.
  19. This would be more of a blow if the staff used his skills efficiently. Sucks for him.Just taking a stab here that you might be thinking I was talking about Rossi. He's fine. The O-linemen Vinnie Rizzo is out for the year. Sorry if I'm mistaken and you were talking about Rizzo in the first place In Akron? Yes, I did know that RI, I've been watching for decades. Did you know it's been even harder since you got here?I think he was trying to emphasize how in football there are so many players who need to do their job on a particular play to have success. It came out a little awkward (and defensive) though. In spite of my dissatisfaction with the results, I do feel bad for the guy. I know he's paid well and it's part of the gig, bla bla bla, but you can feel the pressure starting to get to him.
  20. Not that anyone is particularly interested, but here are some items from last night’s Zips live:1. Rizzo had surgery on his wrist and is out for the year.2. Bice and Kasparek both practiced yesterday and will play against CMU. Bice has a cast on his right hand that will force him to snap with his left.3. Ianello made it sound like the pistol formation was just an experiment. Given the injury problems at center, I suspect we won’t see much of it this week.4. Russell graded well at corner and will stay there. The decision to move him was motivated by numbers.5. Did you know that football is the hardest game to win?6. I must have heard “it’s a process” a half dozen times.
  21. The line is already showing some movement, with the Zips opening as 8 point underdogs and the spread now up to 9 1/2.
  22. Thanks for the much needed break from reality!
  23. This is a little weird, but I nominated BOTH of these guys just a few years ago and they're still right where they were, perhaps even more successful than before.Craig BohlMark FarleyThe trouble with either of them is that they're both probably unwilling to leave unless it's a relatively high-profile FBS program. They're probably not making too much less than Ianello as it is.
  24. Whiting is a very good HS football coach who also happens to be somewhat of a blow-hard. I know....shocker. Vic is conveniently leaving out offensive linemen Nate Klatt, who UA offered very early in the recruiting process. WR Teddy Robb also was a preferred walk-on with the Zips. I highly doubt if Brookhart OR Ianello have been purposely neglecting Stark County.
  25. I'm not trying to be picky, but didn't think RI should get credit for the vast majority of these players. Your point that the reporter missed a couple of obvious ones is well taken.
