Lowery had better watch out. I understand Davanzo didn't take his (Lowery) being drafted too kindly. These guys will probably be sick of seeing each other on the field.

I hope big Nate can give everything he's got with the G-Men. The only thing stopping him is Nate. BTW, it looks like Kasparek signed with the Fins and Tate with the Jets.Link

Congrats to Jabari! Tres bien!!!Link

Davanzo Tate must be REALLY bumming right about now

I guess we got used to a Corner playing corner, but the ESPN crew can't seem to say it enough!

Eight MAC Players to watch in upcoming NFL Draft

Congrats to Reggie Corner!!! Buffalo just picked him in Round 4!!! -
I like it! Very festive and encouraging. I just hope we don't have have them play Greg Lake's "C'est La Vie" AFTER too many home games

Let's hope the opposition isn't typically "happier than you and me!" You know, the only slight drawback to anything by Devo is that several members were art students at a certain other school to the east. But who cares, right? When John Q. Public thinks of Devo, he invariably thinks of Akron.

I kind of agree that it's not a big deal whether the MAC maintains an automatic bid as long as the program stays at the level that it's at. Things can change pretty quickly, though, so it is in UA's interest to consider other possibilities. The Big 10 would be nice, but I don't see that happening. The MVC is an interesting possibility. Why not possibly join Kentucky (and South Carolina) in C-USA? Right now C-USA has 9 soccer members. Other possibilities include the Horizon (9 current teams) and Summit (6 current teams). One other idea that just struck me is trying to put together a new midwest soccer league, taking the best from the MAC (Akron, NIU, Buffalo), a few from the Horizon (Loyola, UIC, UW-Milwaukee, Cleveland St., Detroit) and perhaps Oakland from the summit? As an aside, I knew the SEC didn't have Men's soccer as a conference sport, but I didn't realize until researching it that these are the ONLY two SEC schools that sponsor Men's soccer.....bizarre! I realize that the SEC has long been "college football country", but with the growth of soccer AND the population growth in that region, how are schools like Tennessee, Georgia and Florida NOT sponsoring Men's programs? How long can the SEC watch as the nearby ACC continues to basically dominate college soccer?

1) any suggestions for songs?2) a call to arms is only as good as the fans make it. the trick is finding something that the fans will rally around and thats easyer said than done. 3) not a bad idea4) I never looked at it as a prance and prance never came into my mind anytime I've ever seen it but then again I'll wait and see what everyone else has to say.5) I'll let you try and tell that the the flag corp. best of luck6) I'm not to big on taking ideas of high school bands. it's mostly a pride thing. further more I've been a fan of being the last people in the stands so that we canvgive all the other fans some music to leav to.love the suggestions if you guys have more keep them comingIt might be a bit unusual, but how about Devo's "Whip It!" for a celebration/get Rowdie song? That has to be one of the most recognizable "Akron" songs ever.

Good idea. I would like to add to it.They could name the dirigible the Hindenburg, float it with hydorgen in lieu of helium and after Zips wins they could have a post game bonfire over Kathryn Place by setting it on fire (Everything else has been set on fire on Kathryn Place, why not a blimp?). Talk about something that would bring nostalgia and connect the alumni to their days at UofA!A contest could happen each time awarding $500 to the best rendition of the phrase, "Oh the humanity".Just some random thoughts....feel free to add your own.Nice! Maybe they could have a contest to shoot it down instead? One shot for a dollar and 6 shots for a fin, all proceeds going to the general scholarship fund of course. They could name it, Which Zip can Zap the Zep?". Rifle team members, past and present, would NOT be eligible.

Actually this cup isn't so small after all. All it needs is a little love and attention. (Hint: Think Linus in Charlie Brown Christmas) I understand your point on the band being slighted, but I for one enjoy each and every show.

Nope. It's officially "Akron true Gold and Blue." It's what is displayed when the lyrics are on the scoreboards at the JAR, and it's what is printed in the media guide. They changed it after the University changed their name. You band members are living twenty years in the past.http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...p;ATCLID=323404 I believe uakronkid is correct. It says so right on this 32 oz plastic cup I keep in my office!

Speaking of Brian Wood, I found his nemesis' memoir.Perhaps we should have offered Matt Burke? -
RACER brings up a good point. Exactly was does the team have to do this year to assure JD comes back to open InfoCision? Or does he get another season regardless? Because of this being the last season in the bowl, I'm thinking 6-6 just MIGHT be the cut-off (anything below he goes), even though 6-6 against this schedule would be a pretty decent season.I think the D will not only be pretty good, but barring an injury to Bain will be as good as any that's played here before. The obvious question is on O and I honestly think this is totally a crap-shoot at this stage.

This description is classic! It evokes a philosophical question. Is "lawn-type area" to grass as "processed cheese food" is to cheese? If you know what I'm talking about, you'll see that that description is pretty accurate. It's not really a lawn, and it has random street lights located in the middle of the field. I think it is gravel covered with about 1 inch of dirt, and then some sod. I don't even know if it is owned by UA or one of the frats, or maybe the Chapel. It's just a relatively large square of grass on the street corner. For kicks I tried to Google Earth it, but the resolution isn't enough to do it justice. Plus, seems like most of those Google Earth images are 5-10 years old. I'm certainly not disputing your claim. I merely enjoyed the description. I'm sure it will be PERFECTLY adequate for the intended use!

That's an easy choice. For many, many reasons GO UMASS!!! -
It's funny how often the AP neglects to "sweat the details". Shouldn't this be the University AT Buffalo?

This is a valid point, but I assume you meant Tulane? New Orleans would be quite a commute from Tulsa, OK -
He signed a LOI, so he will be a Zip in 2008.Does this mean that an extra scholarship was "freed up" from perhaps CJ7 or another player leaving he program?

That's an interesting statement. It sort of sounds like it contradicts itself, which is particularly amusing after the 10,000,000th time.If they don't get a QB that can win games, I'd guess we would win 0 and not 5... Precisely, zippy5!
