Zack Stoudt- JUCO QB... Go get him
Jalapeño Zippy replied to InTheZone's topic in Akron Zips Football
Im not sure if I would fully classify it as "baggage". He might be upset, sure, but if he is using it as a motivator to go somewhere else to prove he's got what it takes to be a D1-A player, then its energy our team could use. Didn't think of it that way, good thought, and makes a call to him from our staff all the more needed. -
Zack Stoudt- JUCO QB... Go get him

Johnson, who is from the east Texas town of Kountze, did not dress for West Virginia's 49-10 victory against UNLV on Saturday. After that game, Stewart told a few media members that the quarterback was experiencing homesickness (for a second time) and contemplating his future. Also I noticed further down they talked about that he might be upset from being named as the 3rd string. Sounds to me like a lot of baggage. But I would definitely not be opposed to giving him a call. -
Butler is vast becoming the school I wish UA was. Strong DI soccer and basketball programs with football in a lesser division. With our budget it makes the most sense IMO.

I hope that you understand that your dual allegiances puts you in a precarious position regarding many zips fans here. It may be wise in situations such as these not to say anything, including posting emoticons. Unless "poking the fire" is something you like to do, then by all means keep on poking. I just think a lot of ill will would be avoided that way. So, you're saying buckzip can't post on certain threads? What bs! Who cares if he wants to post an emoticon. Sensitive are we? Hate to break it to ya, but buckzip, along with a few others, keeps this forum going with good dialogue and contributions. Where you, on the other hand, confuse being a passionate fan with an ignorant moron. The whole situation is funny, the OSU player blew his fuse against an instate rival. And because of the editing done by one of our own ZNO members it has become a popular video and picked up steam across the US and beyond. I would like to think that if it weren’t for cigar guy, the video would have gone even further. What I am most upset about is that we have now had 3 scares this season where a team got physical with us and we had trouble responding. We need to figure this out pronto before tourney time!

Title: Abusive: This player has got a 'shot' in the head of a rival This cowardly event took place at a meeting between two U.S. universities. Other than that it just quotes OSU coach on his dumb quote and tells what is in the video. Thanks for doing that! The OSU coach was an absolute prick with those comments. And the week leading up Caleb was very high on him. Wonder what CP will say the week before we play them next time... those comments below look interesting too. There were 8 or 9 when I looked. Cap'n, love the emoticon!

Watch out for...
Jalapeño Zippy replied to UAZipster0305's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Would love to beat the quitter in the tourney. I wouldn't say he was a quitter. He was a good coach that elevated the program and is partly responsible for where we are now. He left because he didn't think he could compete for a National Championship at Akron. He was wrong and I'd love to prove his theory wrong by beating Louisville on the road to becoming Louisville is a match-up that really interests me because they are a big name school, and we trail in the all-time series with them 0-2-1. Reference: http://www.gozips.com//pdf5/634753.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=10800 Sooo, he quit. -
If this is the case, it's good that we play teams like that now. I certainly wouldn't want to face a team like that for the first time in the tourney. Again, it's a learning experience. This tie has a silver lining in my opinion. +1 We absolutely need this experience going into the tourney because we clearly did not respond well to a team that was physically trying to intimidate us. We fell into their trap and tried to beat them at their own game and when we went up 2-1, we backed-off and didn't demonstrate the killer instinct needed to be champions. Let's learn this difficult lesson early and grow on it.

I'm heading down as well. GO Zips!

Doesn't make sense to me. I would understand if he narrowed it down to better schools than UA, but those 3 are terrible. TCU was 13-19 last year. really is that impressing? Rice hasn't made the tourney since 1970. 8-23 last year with only 1 C-USA win. Santa Clara? 11-21(3-11 WCC) really man? Doesn't make much sense to me either. Of course a lot of big program coaches said the same thing about Zeke when he committed to us. Too many variables go into recruiting, and we may never really know what lead Dylan away from the Zips and to one of these other schools. Jim Christian bad mouthing us, jk.

Tulsa - THE BIG GAME!
Jalapeño Zippy replied to Wally B's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I thought this was an interesting note on a gozips article Last Year Versus Tulsa The Zips were 2-0 against the Hurricane a year ago with a 1-0 victory in Tulsa in the second game of the year and another 1-0 result at Lee Jackson Field against TU in the NCAA quarterfinals. The Zips jumped on top early in both matches with Anthony Ampaipitakwong finding the net at the 10 minute mark in the first contest and Kofi Sarkodie scoring a goal in the 17th minute in the last. UA out-shot Tulsa by a combined count of 23-12, including a 10-5 margin on goal as year ago. To me that says last year they couldn't play with us. We scored early, they packed the D in hopes to get a quick strike the other way. Thoughts? -
I think we beat GW with Manning... Remember, I said "I think". I agree. In fact, I will go one step further and say "pretty sure" OK OK With Peyton Manning we probably could have yes...what was I thinking?? I on the other hand 100% doubt it. Peyton would have been crippled by now with our drunken style of O-line play.

2010-2011 Men's Basketball Schedule
Jalapeño Zippy replied to MaxZIP's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Most are at home which sucks, but I do remember playing at BGSU on ESPNU two seasons ago. -
Blue lines? That's classic. Old school, I love it. I wonder if they even teach that anymore? The printing industry is much more efficient now-a-days. The terminology I used may be old, but the procedure of reviewing still exists. Regardless, continue your disgruntled nature as you seem to find happiness in it.

Not to rain on your sarcasm parade but I got my mag 3 weeks ago, in time for the 1st game they hosted. Also, I am sure people out there know that publications probably take time to finalize with blue lines, so the info was probably in weeks ago. I think people just like to complain to complain and it's getting really old fast on this board.

Nice idea Justin. ACME Zip game in its prime was pretty amazing, but lost steam towards the end. To be honest, right now, I am embarrassed of our current state of football and I don't want anyone seeing the mess we are in.

According to this article the last four teams 'in' will play for 2 spots. Am I reading this correctly? http://www.daytonflyers.com/news/index.html?article_id=6914

GoZips.com Goes All-Out to Promote Syracuse Game

According to the ua employment site, the answer is they are working on it as a position is posted. -
Akron recruits heavily in the local market. Unfortunately most of the time the students head elsewhere. Check the recruit thread and you will see what i am talking about.
