This is a bad loss. We cant lose games at the end like this. Now if we beat Buffalo and Can't this month ill be a bit more optimistic but right now it's not looking good.

queers? Are we talking about that Can't fraternity?btw, it would be nice to see Obama tackle a real issue with the same rational thinking. Here's an idea. Let's spend that 800 billion dollar budget on leveling the economic playing field. Simply spread all that money to the mid-level non BCS conferences so there will no longer be a select few BCS conferences with all the power.haha...maybe that's what Obama wants to sit down with the BCS higher ups and talk about.

Wow this is all great news. ESPN the magazine? Can't wait to get that issue. And im betting we will see a game with similar stats in the near future, probably with Cant State on the losing end. Or at least that's my dream...im sure one everyone here shares. -
this is ridiculous. Wonder why they dont release vote totals?

Can't State on ESPN.com's Top Stories
RootforRoo44 replied to Bleacher Bum's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
yeah i think its important to note that he has not done anything wrong at Can't State, only in his past. This kid is not the same as the example i used before of getting a slap on the wrist. Though im sure just like any other Can't athlete he would get away with murder if it happened. -
$60k would be a nice operating budget for Akron Club Baseball.

Can't State on ESPN.com's Top Stories

I know you were just kidding but let's be honest here. Pot is widely used throughout UA's campus. As are other drugs. It's college. I've never been to Can't's campus so I wouldn't know the atmosphere there, but I'm willing to bet they use as much or less pot then students at UA. I know it's been a running joke(Can't is a hippie school etc) but I can't lie, I've never seen someone do as much acid as this kid a few doors down from me. Does that make Akron a bunch of hippies too?Just putting a long running joke into perspective.lol well akron may have its share of "hippies" and drug users but lets not forget that at this University there are consequences for being caught doing such things. At Can't if you are an athlete all you get is a slap on the wrist and you are right back into the games. -
I'm curious. Does anybody know if it's particularly unusual to have BOTH a varsity version and a clucb version of the same sport at one school? I also wonder how the two programs would interact, if at all. For instance, what facilities will be available to the club baseball team? Will the varsity program "scout" the club program for prospects? I assume the club program would play club teams from other schools (otherwise they's just call in intramural baseball, correct?).Well considering i founded and am heading up the Club Baseball program maybe i can answer a few of these questions. It is very common to have both a varsity and club version of baseball at a school. The NCBA (National Club Baseball Association) has around 250 teams nationwide split into 2 divisions and most teams have Varsity programs at their school as well(We will be independent our first year so we will be competing against both).Actually, most every major university in Ohio has a Club team including: Can't State, Ohio, Ohio State, BGSU, Toledo, Miami, Xavier, etc...I have not yet had a chance to meet Coach Bangston regarding any scrimmage or exhibition games between our two programs but I would definitely like to make an annual game a reality. I do know that many Varsity programs around the country use their Club programs as a way of finding talent. I know that the Penn State club program for example has sent 10 players to the Varsity team in it's 10 years of existence. We do have use of the on campus facilities for practice and games, though we also have a backup field that will be used for schedule conflicts. Our schedule has not been completed yet so I don't know what conflicts there will be. So yes we will play other schools around the region and starting next fall we will be competing in a conference yet to be determined. The whole thing is obviously pay to play to we are/have been working to find sponsors anywhere we can to help fund this. We actually held tryouts and picked the team last fall (we had over 45 people show up for a "word of mouth" tryout) so if anyone is wondering, the team is already set. Though we will be holding tryouts for next years team either late this semester or early in the fall semester. We have 26 players on our roster and some pretty good talent so if you are looking for another sport to watch UofA beat up on Can't State in, come on out and watch. I will post our schedule on here sometime along with our website link once it's all up and running.

Well i'm sure he wont get into anymore trouble considering pot is legal on kents campus right? -
There is no Rugby team at the University. This spring will be the first season for Club Baseball however.

no way was that the same ball state that beat us.
-
sounds a bit Can't statish to me

If that is the case the we can expect the zips to loose more games then. There is no doubt in my mind that if steve was ready to play, KD would play him. He is not playing him therefore he is not ready. End of discussion.

This is truly embarrassing. Losing by 29 to ANY team is unacceptable.

Went to the OBC myself last night for a little over an hour and took about 10 friends with me most of which had never been there. It was a little slow there but the beer was good as always and it impressed the people i took enough to want to stay there for over an hour even with barely anyone there.

After sitting around and reading these posts for the last few days i only have one response or question:Can't we agree that ALL 3 are good coaches? They all are coaches that most any program in the nation would be proud and lucky to have leading it.

I also would like to see more offense from the bigs.IIRC, CMcK is playing with a cracked rib, so that could explain his lack of time and tentative play inside.Nik played good earlier in the season, but let his emotions get to him in the Dayton game (3 PFs) and he got benched. He hasn't seemed the same since that. I do like the way he wasn't afraid to go inside and I hope he gets it back together soon.SS seems to be good at finishing around the rim. Maybe he just needs to play with more abandon to get some time?when Nik was in yesterday had had a nice defensive play and caused a St Francis turnover. Immediately after he let out a loud scream and clapped a few times and showed alot of emotion there as well. I love it. I know there is a time and place for doing that and most of the time he brings emotion in the right way, i cant wait to see him play more.

Okay, great idea. And it inevitably brings up the question: What should Can't State's tickets be shaped like? im sure they could work out a ticket shaped like a burning flag as well

I waited in that line with a friend to get nachos. After 10 minutes of waiting, the lady told me that they dont have jalapenos anymore for the nachos. The reason: "people were complaining they were too hot". No joke. I did not even buy anything after that. -
and thank god for that...there are so many idiots in the world that i would rather do things easy and on the internet so i dont have to deal with morons.(sorry i just got back from subway in fairlawn where they forgot to tell me until i went to pay that their credit card machine was down. I had $4.90 to my name in cash and change they still would not sell my sub. Needless to say i dont have much confidence in people running things right now.)

New Commit is a Gem

That's because Keith is a native Akronite, not a Youngstowner or other varietal outsider, Cap'n Like KD, I grew up with everyone around me calling our university Akron U. In fact, I can't remember ever hearing anyone call it by that long, drawn out name in an actual conversation.However...in official publication, like that Cali paper, someone should tell the author it's THE University of Akron. In fact, let's remind all the folks down Bucknut way about that also. What I really hate is when I tell someone I'm from Ohio, and they respond, "Oh, you're a Buckeye". Aaaaaaahhh! Mele kalikimaka from ka pae 'aina 'o Hawai'i nei to all the Akron U fans in the audience. You do realize this is the Buckeye State...Right?i wasn't aware of that. I tend to block out anything that comes from that fairy filled city down south.
