  1. High School seniors that follow the Zips already? So the rumors are true that there are other parents out there who are raising their kids as life long Zips fans.
  2. That sums it up pretty well. The thing is, if you've ever been to a game, you'll realize how good of a time it is. It has something that even the NFL doesn't have.
  3. thanks for the linki didnt notice it until now but it sure looked like they were putting alot of pressure on McNees and he made some pretty nice passes to set up open looks. Not something you see much from him so that's a good thing.
  4. Personally i just think it was a bad game, but it's still worrying. I did not see if Conyers started, did he? That seems to be a problem when he doesn't lately.
  5. so where the heck was Conyers tonight? He had twice as many fouls (4) as rebounds (2), assists (0), and points (0) COMBINED.And Bardo, ZERO shots in 14 minutes and only 1 rebound?!
  6. not so fast...this is just the Soccer America POTY. Jan 9th is when the Hermann results come in.
  7. this is great news...and great to steal one from a conference foe.
  8. love reading these stories ZW...keep them coming.
  9. and the more fans, the more money, and in the end more hype which helps draw those big recruits. Every little bit helps.
  10. That's where i think you are wrong. Any recruit that does what was mentioned by the original poster and googles "Akron Zips" will get a wide variety of news articles (under google's "news" tab). And if you look down at those articles, many of them say "Akron Beacon Journal". To read a homer article like that certainly would do something for anyone anywhere around the country. The only problem is, this way of searching only would bring up the past few weeks or articles. If it were 2 months ago and you did this you would just get articles from the various opponents' home papers and websites. Also, I personally know that recruits do this because I myself only 4 years ago was being recruited by a few smaller schools in Ohio and the surrounding states. The first thing i did besides look at those teams rosters and where most of their players were from was google what news coverage i could find on them. Sure enough that did influence me a bit in my choosing of where to play baseball and i'm sure there are/were others like me. Just imagine the big time recruits who are expecting to become pro athletes someday. They know that such news coverage can bring notoriety to a school and perhaps pro scouts along with it.So let's hope the ABJ coverage keeps up and makes us look good. (btw i transferred to Akron after my freshman year and didn't continue my career here)
  11. exactly...and what's wrong with rooting for the local team a bit in things? It's always good when the small school beats the perennial power house.
  12. ah that's too bad, but good for CSU...besides the Zips, cant help but root for them second.WHAT?!?!?! CSU SUCKS ALMOST AS HARD AS K.E.N.T!!! They are HUGE rivals whom have refused to play us recently!!! Burn in hell CSU!!!No way i can put CSU anywhere near Cant state. They are a similar program that has few glory years and is an inner city university. Their story is amazing as well, they were destined for greatness in the late 80's/early 90's, they even built a 13,000 seat arena. The only problem was their coach was destined for crack houses.

  14. I'm somewhat certain on steve leaving, though i guess i wont say any more on it than that. I wish it wasn't the case but having an MLS first pick come out of your school sure is going to look good for the program. And having a Premier League player looks even better.no doubt it does
  15. GO YSU!wait..whoa did i just say/type that?!

  17. I guess we wont get to watch any more of our former MAC foes compete for the Gladiators

  19. yes whoever made that thing should hire themselves out to kid's birthday parties and county fairs. No props on Zeke wearing our "UA" balloon hat?
  20. cant argue with that
  21. He didn't want to put it on at firstBUT we got him to finallyUA
  22. Took a few pictures, got some of Zeke, the balloon hat we made for him, and some of balloon zippy. Enjoy.
  23. NO moving on until we get answers, this cannot happen again.
  24. No surprise that it didnt happen. It's no San Francisco, but I wouldnt exactly call Chicago the center of morality in America. Though at least someone took notice here that we got shafted .
