I have a feeling we will BuckZip. TB is the Man.
-
Another good get for the coaches. He was a redshirt freshman in 2012.
-
Yes. Yes I do believe that. It's the only rational defense of hiring a non-academic former coach to be the head figure for an academic institution. Don't get me wrong, I DO NOT want that to be the case, and hope it isn't. I'm also reading the writing on the wall. And I absolutely 100% believe a new basketball Arena is a priority for UA brass, especially when they are hoping that UA isn't going to fund it. UA put a very nebulous reference to a new arena in the 2020 plan as well. I absolutely believe it's a priority. Especially if what GoZips says is true...that there is buzz amongst many that the Zips want out of the MAC...than a new arena is a priority. If the shoe fits...

Guys the writing is on the wall (and yes I'm being cynical because the idea makes me want to ) But Jim Tressel will be our next President, because he is the person with the moxy to potentially rally support behind such a project (public, private and government).

It takes decades for school levys to pass...I doubt this has any chance of passing either. (I don't mean to sound doom and gloom). Someone talk me off the cliff?
-
To add on to AdaZip; it's also embarrassing. Because I know the public is looking at my Alma Mater and saying "what a pathetic joke". I hope they aren't...but experience has taught me, with a high degree of confidence, that they are. And public opinion of UA is important, don't kid yourselves.

Just because we may have been told something was going to happen...doesn't make it any less worthy when it actually happens. In fact, having it become reality makes it even more

100% agree with ZippyFan. What I saw Saturday was a far cry from what Captain saw Saturday. I'll throw the caveat in there that this is "only the spring game" blah blah, but we have to be at least somewhat concerned with Pohl's play. I think we're all pulling for him, because he is by far our best option at QB, but that also doesn't excuse the obvious and glaring problems.

Springs match vs. Louisville

This worries me... -
@GP1. I agree with what you're saying; but don't mistake my criticism of KP16 as normal Browns fan (as I am) clamoring for a QB. Had DW13 had 1 more year of eligibility left, he'd started last season not KP16. Obviously there is something to having experience at the position. DW13 had the experience, had the intangibles, had the grit you need in a starting QB, but not the supporting cast around him. The QB execution took a step down from 2012-2013, but the surrounding cast took large leaps up. That was the difference between 1-11 and 5-7. KP16 did show some massive improvement by the en of the season, but that's not to say it's without criticism. Quick stat comparison: DW13 326-522(62%), 3387 yards, 25 TD 16 INT KP16 225-402(56%), 2438 yards, 14 TD 10 INT We had a quick tempo, fast paced offense. You can't seriously be trying to contend this. It speaks for itself. I'm pulling for KP16 to be the field general that DW13 was. If he could develop to that kind of a leader, we win 8 games this year. Period. The question is: Is Pohl the man. You say he is. I say he is, for now. However if he's reached is glass ceiling, we can do better. Simple as that. And don't mistake this criticism is simply based on the Spring Game, it isn't. It's based on the last 5 games of the year. Sure we won, but we're foolish to not comment on holes we see that we would like to improve.

Love it Lee Adams. +1. If Pohl is as good as some say he is, prove it. Step up and beat Penn State this year. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember DW13 taking charge of the Offense, making reads, communicating to TB what his changes were...being a field general. Sure we didn't actually win games, but we had offensive production unlike years before. KP16 has done enough to lead to some wins, but certainly has not been the field general we need to get to the top of the MAC.

Of course I realize it's spring game...backup QB was a concern last spring game; it continued to be a problem throughout the year...seems to be the same story this year. Spring game does give insights to where the team needs to improve...or we wouldn't be having spring games. I don't disagree KP16 is that much ahead of the others (it's obvious from watching practice). Though there's still a lot room for him to improve. I'm not pessimistic, rather: "I'll believe it when I see it." I love Bowden, don't get me wrong, but I will believe the hype when I see it. There is always room for improvement.

I miss DW13 a bit...I feel like he's the QB that would take the chances the coaches need in order to win games. Don't get me wrong, I like KP16...but we need him to take a step up if we believe this team can win 8 games. On a side note: I watched a considerable amount of Penn State's Blue and White game. If the coaches can put together a game plan like what we had against Michigan last year, we can beat these guys. That's right, I have a feeling we can beat Penn State. It starts with having inspired QB play from KP16. I don't care who the QB transfer is, but if bringing him in is enough to shake everyone on the QB roster to compete harder, it can't be a bad thing. We need them all to step up. GP1: I would agree with the former Zips' opinion. As a unit, this team looks good. I remember dreading he season last year after the spring-game because there wasn't much to like on either side of the ball. But this defense seems like it hasn't taken a step back (I dare say they almost looked better than they did last year), More WR's seem to be creating space. My biggest concern is OL.

On the Topic of Zips QBs, I was a little disappointed with the QB play yesterday. Either our defense is getting that good, or we need considerably better play from our QBs.

FINALLY! The people in charge of advertising our football team have FINALLY made a poster that actually makes us look like we're a division-I school!

Hey let them get more grandiose (more expensive) ideas for the Toilet Bowl. Hopefully that will translate into a little spur to the Akron economy from something that has been sitting unused and rotting.

Topic to Which a Zips Fan Can Relate
Balsy replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
Is it just a little Ironic that Chuck Amato was talking smack about Akron...only to endu up in Akron himself? -
Thanks Dr. Z! I was thinking about finding something that did this o I can watch the Zips on my TV rather than my laptop screen. I guess my biggest concern is that most times on the computer it's not the best quality...if it's on the TV it'd be worse wouldn't it?

After reading the comments of the other tweeters I have arrived at one conclusion: Love the Akron type face (hint, it's the SAME font as the logos), Still hate the non-Akron font numbers, don't actually mind the Roo on the sleeve. Actually I think I now LOVE the "Fear the Roo" on the shoulder inspite of the ass-hats who said that the Roo was a stupid thing. You've got to be what you are IMO, and we are the Zips...we are Roos...let's represent it! Lance, Keener...I think we all are somewhat disappointed in the new uniforms (or at least the direction that they are heading...but I think we can all agree that it doesn't matter what the team looks like, so long as they win! Besides, if they win in those uniforms, especially in (hopefully) some big games, we'll come to love them!
-
Do you think they will be releasing the new uniforms for the public to view at the Spring Game? I noticed a lot of teams were releasing their new uniforms around their spring games...
-
GORGEOUS!!! I LOVE The two helmet scheme! Does this mean we have 3 helmets then? Chrome, Matte Blue and the Gold one's? With the jersey and pant combinations, it feels like we'll have a different look every game!!
-
God I love coach! I can't wait to see the Spring Game.

Congrats Hilltopper!

How much better is Terry Bowden than Rob Ianello? Maybe I should open a poll!
