  1. The "A-Roo" is also associated with our one and only national championship...
  2. It's more "Akron" than the Z is...just saying. Mascot and school both represented. Z...neither, only the team name...
  3. This is a little OT but I thought I'd throw it in here because this conversation was about the lack of good Zips gear out there. I got the chance to go to the book store on campus yesterday and what a change! They've moved everything around, and it's all organized into "departments". And I'd have to say that there seems to be a lot more variety and, dare I say, quality items than there used to be. I saw a few more items using the Z logo than in the past too.
  4. I don't mind us using the Fear The Roo, infact I like it and I think it looks fantastic on the proposed new helmets. But we need to stop eliminating this logo from use: Akron has a lot of unique logos that should allow for a lot of unique and diverse ways to use them. Why would we basically stop using one?
  5. The ROO or the A-ROO? I guess can come around and say that I like this, I'm down with it.
  6. I think you mean asinine.
  7. So Stupid. I like the Z, but I really hate that we're all but eliminating it from our culture. Stupid.
  8. You know, I was about to be mad about this. Then I realized that for once #ZipNation #ZipNation is actually trending.
  9. Here's the change.org petition.
  10. Oh wow. Guess I missed that somehow.
  11. I did too. They were top of the MAC East for a couple of weeks too. I don't understand why they fired him. The best teams in the MAC this year were 12-6 going into the Tournament, BGSU was 11-7.
  12. It looks like a beautiful white elephant.
  13. Whoops...I should have specified the spring game...
  14. TE has been a huge focus in the offseason. I don't remember seeing hardly any TE designed plays...is it likely because we haven't seen the entire offense or is the TE being brought in for extra protection on a QB scramble?
  15. Hey, gotta keep all things objective here.
  16. Love them! However I don't particularly care for the Z replacing the A-Roo...I like the Z, but I also like the A-Roo. I don't think we should go away from using it as we seem to be.
  17. And the only INT.
  18. This format would only work IMO if it was somehow attached to a "playoff system" for the MAC Championship. Every team only plays each other once, but overall record is taken into consideration for each division. "East" victors play off against each other, "West" victors play off against each other. Winners play each other in the Championship. I almost like that idea in the sense that there'd almost have to be 1 flex game at the end of the season that would be determiend after the season has happened, and the last games of the year, and those "rivalry" games do have that much more meaning. But this is a very boring topic, because it's never going to happen. Unfortunately we're in that awful off-season time.
  19. He's on the roster, but I think they were mostly trying the backup kickers on Saturday. Freshman Gasser (spl) looks good, same with Foster. I'm a little worried about FG kicking. We've got Stein, and he's pretty solid...but O'Leary doesn't seem to be very good the times that I've seen him...are we ever going to see Gingerich?
  20. I've heard it twice, that 15 players were out, does anyone know who they are?
  21. They do. Supposedly 2207. How they measured that, I have no idea. I don't remember seeing clickers, but they might have had them.
  22. The only thing I remember from Pratt yesterday is that he dropped a pretty good pass from Tra'von Chapman, the very first one if I'm not mistaken (Bowden looked frustrated at that and the other dropped passes today). I was surprised that we didn't see the ball thrown to any TE or any plays that had a TE option. There has been an obvious focus on that position in the offseason, where we only had 2 on the roster last year we now have 5/6. Michael Means looks promising, only because he can actually hold on to the ball. Hundley is the best option we have at RB, second I still think is Lawrence. I was unimpressed with Donnell Alexander. I like the look of our D, gotta work on the penalties...Jamal Marcus looks like a stud.
  23. How are teams picked for this tournament? Is there a formula, or a cycle that they go through? I'm just curious if all the 20+ win seasons plays into a selection or not....because we weren't champions last year.
  24. There are a lot of changes from when I updated this after signing day and now spring game. There are a lot of new names on the roster, mostly redshirt freshman, and there are a few transfers in the mix, or people whom had comitted to other schools previously and are now here? Anyways, any information I could find on people who ARE on our roster now is hyperlinked below. Feel free to weigh in on anything you know about any of them. There seem to be a lot of local boys out of the crew below. UPDATED: Additions: SO WR Aj Coney, RS FR WR Landon Yeartie, SO RB Fredrick Crow II, SR RB Tyreek Hill, RS FR Hayden Gover, RS FR Matt Blaha, RS FR Nick Fazio, JR TE Daryan Martin, RS SR TE Dylan Siebel, RS FR K/P Shawn Kirk, RS FR K/P Nick Gasser, RS FR DL Brian Reinke, SO DL Christopher Spruill, RS SO Austin Williams, RS FS LB Oliver Johnson, SO LB Trevan Ray, RS FS CB Jordan George, RS FR DB Nathan Bishof, RS FR DB Trey Harden, RS JR DB Zachary Sweat, SO ATH Anthony Young. Missing: RS FR Chandler Kincade (whom we all know transfered)
  25. idk...the first spring game I went to was in 2012, When DW13 and Clayton Moore were the QBs of significance, CM8 being the incumbant. After watching that game I said to myself "I think #13 is going to be our QB next year..."
