Hell, we Alumni could step up and fund the Rowdies. Despite who might be funding the Rowdies, it'll boil down to if the students in the "Club" want it to change or not. Because if the organization is getting funding from somewhere else, that funder will need a seat (and should have a interest) in what the "Club" does. Do the students in the Club want to give up what they already have? Do they even view themselves as needing to improve.

Official ZipsNation Engagement 2015-2016 season Discussion

We can't even get our STUDENTS to act like they even attend our university. -
I think what most people are getting at is that students think they can't sit on the floor so they don't even bother asking, because they assume it's for AK-Rowdies only. I know that, because that's what I thought when I was a student (before joining the Ak-Rowdies) as well as many of my friends. I always thought the Rowdies should disperse their leaders throughout the student section to encourage the other students to cheer. There's MANY times I've heard students try to chime in with whatever chant is going on, but they can't hear it, do the wrong one, get out of sync and give-up all together. There's a lot the AK-Rowdies could be, but aren't...simply because it treats itself as a "regular old club". $20 is ridiculous for an entry fee, because most of the members wont end up being a part of any of the events. A lot of freshman join, give $20, find out it sucks (because lets be honest here, it does) and don't attend "AK-Rowdies" hosted events. So you have a few people getting the benefits of the "club" not funded by themselves. Just an observation, as a former student who was also an Ak-Rowdie. And for being a club, there was a grand total of 1 meetings ever. I'm sure there were other meetings, but as an Ak-Rowdie I never knew of them...because I would have been there making suggestions on how to improve.

Who cares how much they give to athletics? With or without them there it really doesn't make a difference to the game. They're about as quiet as the morgue.
-
You don't have to worry about them. They (for the most part) sit there motionless, emotionless and quiet anyways.

This is sort of depressing the lack interest by Zipsnation faithful here. I'm going to go ahead and put feelers out when it comes to student groups and see what kind of response I get before I make a decision on whether or not to attempt making something or not. -
I have a solution: Win. Win a lot. Students will come.

More like compliments of themselves. They pay $800 a year towards athletics. The least UA could do is give them $20 that pretty much has to be used on campus services.

Considering that students pay $800 a year for athletics...

I'll say from my own personal experience, that was the year I got heavily involved. Years before I was never that impressed with the AK-Rowdies But even those "peak" years I didn't think the leadership was all that great. UA has a culture problem. And until it starts hiring people who want to be UA all the time FIRST, it's never going to change. IMO: It's absolutely unacceptable that we are tweeting #TeamOhio "Go OSU" from official accounts. It's also absolutely unacceptable that professors (even if they're contingent faculty) are wearing the clothes of other institutions (OSU)...(yes, I had a professor who wore OSU shirts every Friday...never once wore Akron anything). Until people at UA stop treating it as a stepping stone to something "better" and start treating it as the "better" thing, I don't see it changing. This goes for those working at UA, all the way to the students.

I was really directing that as: "If that guy is part of ZN.O please stand up". I was also hoping someone would chime in about how they used to visit them gem. Guess I overestimated ZN.O.

POLL: How satisfied are you with the 2015 FB Class?
Balsy replied to K92's topic in Akron Zips Football
+1. As far as I'm concerned; any analysis of data (rankings) is nothing more than noise. They don't accurately predict how well teams are going to do, and they don't reliably predict how schools are going to do down the road. -
I'm pretty sure that's accurate. Here's the AK-Rowdies website if anyone's interested. Apparently a raffle, with a separate swipe-in has replaced the far better RooWards. And this is a little OT, but does anyone know who used to run this gem?

+1. I don't get how they could just drop the ball on Roowards. It'd been there since I was on campus, now it doesn't exist? How lame is that? Way to go Akron... AK-Rowdies, I always liked the concept, but I totally agree. It was never a very inclusive group. $5 to join at the begining of the year (which got you a T-Shirt) but the leaders never really did anything that set them apart. After we won the National Championship, the 2011 season was basically the peak. It went down hill after that, and there was never any leadership to get everyone involved in the chants.

I just realized how bi-polar the MAC is this year...in addition to the Akron beating Can't, Can't Beating Toledo, Toledo beating Akron stuff....BG creamed EMU earlier in the season, Akron has swept BG, and EMU beat Akron yesterday. MAC tournament should be interesting this year

Lady Zips comming out to play! I have for faith in the LZips than I do in the boys...and the Boy's aren't half bad either.

UA has plenty of talented and bright people on their campus. However, administration in positions of power don't take students seriously because, ya know, they're students! So until we start tapping THE BEST RESOURCE that we have...

I know you're down in CBUS, but I'm going to ask them to either put it on TV or radio. But that is dependent on how many people we can get. -
