  1. I've gotten a chance to look closer at the "Fear The Roo" ones...I do think they are matte Blue and not black. So those are my favorites! I'm personally happy with three core (and very different) helmets: White Full Kangaroo and number Matte Blue/Fear The Roo Chrome with the Z logo I'm a fan of all three For those of you against the full Kangaroo logo...get over it. That was one of the first logos I identified with a zips fan other than the ARoo, because I thought a Kangaroo mascot was so unique.
  2. Trust me...he's probably going to be out for a LONG time! I was one of the not lucky 50% of 5 year olds who have had the virus, and even more lucky group of people to not get it in my childhood (or it just didn't become infectious), and I contracted the virus in college...because you know ...for 6 weeks I was absolutely miserable. Though the worst of it only took about 6-weeks, I wasn't back to 100% until at least 2.5 months after initial had symptoms.
  3. Mono is caused by the Epstein-Barr Virus, and most people in developed countries are exposed to it at some point during childhood, without knowing it; somewhere around half of 5-year-olds have evidence of prior infections in US studies. These infections are flu-like, which is also why a lot of the population in developed countries doesn't realize they've had it in the past. Mono-infections in children sometimes don't even have symptoms. Those with mono are not overly infectious to others, it's more likely the entire team will get the flu before they contract mono from him...ignoring the part that statistically over half of them are probably already immune from prior unknown infections.
  4. To be honest...I didn't care much for the white "Z" helmets. Only with the away jerseys did they look nice IMO. With the blue home jerseys they looked awful IMHO.
  5. +1. For Bowden to be on the hotseat in 2015 would be the end of Akron football. We might as well shut down operations, throw up our hands and admit that infocision stadium IS a white elephant. If Bowden can't turn this program around, no-one ever will be able to. He's our guy, he will get it done. The offense needs to take a giant leap forward this year. But there's going to be a chance for some of these new comers (both new and transfer) to prove themselves on the offense. I have a feeling we're going to see a faster, run focused offense this year.
  6. UPDATED: Moved Rodney Coe to the DL and Tommy Brown has been added back to the list. I've also moved Jaquavis Dixon to WR, because the coachest talked about him being a WR.
  7. I agree with most of what you said but I wanted to comment of uniforms. I'm probably one of the youngest ZNO members, closest to current student body anyways, and I'd say I'm in love with the new uniforms. Originally I was against them, but I have to say it gives me a new identity as a zips fan. Most of what other Zips fans might consider an identity: the Rubber Bowl, the Charlie Fryes, the epic MAC games of old' (add your Zips identity here) I and many young fans don't have. For most of my fandom it always seemed that UA was just going through the motions of having an "identity" rather than actually having one. I'd say it was a cultural problem. UA still has a cultural problem: from it's piss-ass alumni (we aren't grouped in that because we give a damn about our alma-mater) to it's indifferent student body. The student body IS radically changing. It was radically changed from my freshman year to my senior year. Its different from my senior year to now almost 2 years after graduating. I think efforts like new uniforms and trendy updated helmets are steps in a positive direction. Third consecutive season that UA-football has seemed dedicated to changing the culture. Unlike basketball that seems to have half-assed attempts of creating something cool every year. Creating something new/fresh/engaging should be EVERY year.
  8. Two years. Check out the roster He hadn't used his redshirt prior to coming to Akron, thus that'd put him as a RS Jr from what I remember.
  9. I'll throw Tommy Brown on there, as well as move Rodney Coe. It think it's safe to assume that as well. Over time It'll get easier for me to update this list.
  10. I think this is the best Bowden class to date, certainly lightyears better than the Ianello ones. I also think we should consider Pittman, Chapman, Hope, Coe, Alexander all part of this class too. They were on the team, but had to sit out till this season.
  11. 5.1 seconds AKRON BALL!
  12. Let's do something here zips! 6.9 seconds...and they give it to Ohio on the out of bounds. What a joke.
  13. 18 threes and we're still losing the game. Unbelievable.
  14. Absolutely unbelievable.
  15. UPDATE: Added the new recruits. A couple of people missing who have been potentially linked to the Zips. Possibly preffered walk-ons. I will not add them until there is confirmation from an official roster (or those in the know). Those missing guys: WR Kefa Cort, RB Brandon junk, JUCO TE Josh McNeil, FB Joe Tupta, S Vince Lockett. Also, there may be some people who are no longer with the team (Anthony Clark?)...but until there is official confirmation. This is TENTATIVE. Based on where players were on the roster last year, so RS might be a little messed up. This is just a rough estimate of where the team stands currently.
  16. I couldn't listen to the press conference...wish I could have...wish I could have been there! A couple of guys are missing that we hear had connections to Akron: Potentially preferred walk-ons? WR Kefa Cort, RB Brandon junk, JUCO TE Josh McNeil, FB Joe Tupta, S Vince Lockett. I've uploaded the updated roster here.
  17. Go. They rarely ticket after 3.
  18. Akron 70 Bobkittens 2 Go Zips.
  19. Where would Riggin's be going? His twitter says #UTAHSTATEcommit, but Utah State has nothing on him being on their list. Edit: nvm, they updated it since I looked at it.
  20. I didn't realize he was a grey shirt. He was on the roster I thought, but then he wasn't. Thanks for clearing it up. Side note: At the conclusion of business hours I will have an updated roster for all to see!
  21. I've been a big fan of all our logos, and we should try to incorporate them all in some way throughout the season.
  22. So does that mean Boxen didn't redshirt last year and instead will enter this season as a true-freshman?
