  1. Todd Simon did not get the memo that the defense should focus on defending the three.
  2. She was just riding her unicycle around the kitchen one day....
  3. To what will be his 4th school in 4 years. I wonder if he's lowered his hood yet.
  4. Nate got the award by being the best player on the best team and being solid across the board in the MAC: * 17th in scoring * 20th in rebounds per game * 16th in field goal percentage * 16th in assists per game * 5th in assist to turnover ration * 24th in blocks per game * 3rd in steals Another stat indicative of his play and the Zips depth is that he was the top Zip in minutes yet only 19th in the conference.
  5. I'm happy for all of the guys that made the teams but I think I am happiest for Shammah. I can't imagine it is easy to be that talented yet not start. Instead of sulking Shammah knows and relishes his role and excelled in it. It's also obvious that he has worked hard on his game.
  6. Nate wasn't first or second team- https://getsomemaction.com/news/2024/10/21/mac-announces-2024-25-mens-basketball-preseason-poll-teams.aspx
  7. I think the Third Team would win in a matchup against the first and second teams as they get to put 6 players on the floor!

  10. Miami. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Still angers me years later.
  11. However, from what I see the student attendance now is the highest it has been in well over a decade.
  12. Evan is the ML Carr of the MAC. If you get this, you are officially old.
  13. The JAR is a ****hole, but it's our ****hole. I'd love to see a new facility or a revamped facility but a school that is budgetary trouble and cutting staff has bigger concerns than throwing money at an adequate facility and doesn't much care about the comfort of the stalwarts that go to the games.
  14. Ohio.com/Beacon article on the Zips as they enter the MAC tournament- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2025/03/10/akron-zips-mens-college-basketball-mac-tournament-cleveland-bowling-green-falcons-march-madness/82058121007/?tbref=hp
  15. As for Groce's son, the word is he is on his way to a smaller program next season. This year was a chance to play for his dad and get some practice experience against solid competition before heading off to somewhere he can play.
  16. I think the bigger quandary would be choosing the expletive to insert before "no."
  17. That's outstanding! Thanks for being ZipsNation's historian!
  18. Eddie's hiring at Tennessee State was criticized as he had little or no coaching experience at the time. He did pretty well despite that lack of experience. Always seemed like a class guy.
  19. Amen. He's my least favorite Zip of all time. The guy and his attitude drove me nuts.
  20. It would have to be a very attractive program for him to leave. He's not leaving for a Duquesne like KD, or a Bradley like Geno Ford. It would have to be an SEC, Big 10 or ACC program with a solid base with the potential to succeed, and even then I think it would be tough for him. I also think that if he did it would be a program where he could offer Dustin big money to follow him. I think Dustin has an equal chance of drawing interest from a smaller program or a struggling D1 program. It's all very scary as UA's chances of hitting on 3 in a row are slim.
  21. You're dealing with 18 to 22 year old young men with lots of testosterone and undeveloped brains. Some things are bound to happen no matter how hard you try. Groce and staff have done a nice job of sorting through the available players, avoiding the kids with obvious warning signs and bringing in kids that have the type of character to avoid trouble, while other programs are willing to look away from the obvious warning signs if a kid is talented enough.
  22. They always give the number 1 seed the earlier game time, purportedly as a reward for being the top seed, to give them a little more time between games.
  23. He was playing for a team in Manchester, England. Maybe it's their off-season.
  24. I'm not giving back a win but that second half was frustrating. This team seems to need to feel a little pressure to step on the accelerator late.
