  1. I'm watching Arkansas-Kansas, featuring two of my least favorite coaches. If Calipari, with his ability to recruit, could coach as well as Groce, he'd never lose a game,
  2. One thing I love about these Zips is that everyone on the team is involved and having fun. Guys like Gray and Wilson have been here for a short period of time but they are right in the middle of the mix. Seth is leading the team in the huddle before they come out. Seth is putting the Akron name as the winner on the bracket board. No sulking, no outsiders. From Nate Johnson to Connor Groce they're all in and happy for each other. That's TEAMISM.
  3. 21 minutes per game, 6.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg as a sophomore backup. There's a rumor floating that there's a Big 10 big that could be on the way to the Zips.
  4. Well, to be fair, PCCC was better prepared for Vegas.
  5. Today's Beacon article on Nate- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2025/03/20/akron-zips-basketball-ncaa-tournament-arizona-nate-johnson-tavari-johnson-john-groce-miami-toledo/82491030007/
  6. They took a private jet, using that Furman NIL money!
  7. I can't imagine having a known cheater as a coach. I guess I don't have to imagine it. I just have to ask my PCCC buddy.
  8. That kid's a player. I thought he was the best player on their team. Athletic 6'6" with a nice outside shot.
  9. Looks like the University is looking to outsource housing- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/education/2025/03/19/university-of-akron-outsource-on-campus-housing/82543348007/
  10. Usually, but I think this was an exceptional year.
  11. Between all of the injuries, "personal issues" and defections, I don't know how anyone could have expected more of the Zips this season. If they remained intact for the season and ended up here I could understand the disappointment but they had to recruit non-roster athletes just to field a team.
  12. My post wasn't referencing yours. It was a response to the ridiculous post suggesting the program be terminated.
  13. And what men's program do you propose to eliminate to balance it out for Title IX purposes?
  14. Dear Mr. Pinky- Scoreboard (3X)
  15. Is that you Mr. Governor?
  16. Agreed. I just don't see his playing time or involvement increasing at a P4.
  17. Wet Virginia's coach is leaving after only one year to take the Indiana job. I wonder of the governor will have a presser to protest.
  18. Watch Party- Barley House: 222 S Mill St. #1B, Akron, OH 44308 Tip-Off: 7:35pm
  19. The annual MAC talent exodus is underway. Sigh. I wish Javon Simmons a Payton Sparks like career trajectory.
  20. If I was a coach, I don't know that I'd leave the door open for a kid to return after he entered the portal. I'd recruit a kid once, with the rare exception of a kid like Ali who found the grass wasn't greener and wanted to return. Craft is likely seeing what the market is for his services. I don't think it is at a higher level than where he is at Miami but we'll see.
  21. Beacon article on Amani- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2025/03/18/amani-lyles-akron-zips-ncaa-tournament-arizona-wildcats-march-madness-mens-college-basketball/82498385007/
  22. Gray seems to be the primary option used by the Zips on a second big.
  23. Simmons and Johnson can get buckets. I'm not a fan of Simmons as he just plain whines and b!tches too damn much on the court. I don't see Johnson playing on an up tempo Zips team.
  24. PCCC getting an NIT bid while Miami didn't is a travesty.
  25. Exactly. West Virginia apparently has no bigger issues than the middle of road UWV basketball team going to tournament.
