  1. I'm a little slowwww this morning. I am functioning at a PCCC level of reading comprehension.
  2. I recall seeing the ankle news a while back, but the "out for the season" news is new. Ugh.
  3. The JAR welcomes the 4-12 EMU Eagles this Friday. Despite bringing in one of college basketball's top transfers, Emoni Bates, Stan Heath's squad has struggled, going 3-10 in the OOC schedule and 1-2 in the MAC. The Eagles MAC win came over CMU. Eastern is 8th in the MAC in team offense at 73.1 ppg and last in defense giving up 80.1 ppg. The 6'10" Bates leads EMU in scoring and rebounding at 20.9 ppg and 6.0 rpg. 6'4" sophomore guard Tyler Acuff is the second leading scorer at 12.7 ppg. It will interesting to see how the Zips defend Bates. Will they send a less mobile big at him or use a smaller player to pester him?
  4. Neither coach going to get an award for execution out of timeouts tonight. Thanks to the BG Falcons.
  5. Metheny 3 in our future?
  6. Nice plan coming out of the timeout. Wasted your last timeout for that?
  7. The BG coaching staff will never be accused of having sagging trousers.
  8. On roller skates.
  9. Going with the vets this half. Has Tavari even been in this half?
  10. You have to know there's a Bowling Green rally coming.
  11. Tavari out to start the half.
  12. They apparently do not have popcorn at the Stroh Center concession stands.
  13. Bowling Green looks like they've never seen a trap before.
  14. I gave up painting a bathroom for this?
  15. Zips are doing a fine job of taking charges (and little else).
  16. Need to stop giving Matheny open looks. It hasn't hurt them yet, but it will.
  17. I now know that the longer a team can stay undefeated in its conference the better. Sigh. Great color commentary.
  18. Here's hoping this game is played inside of the 3 point arc. That freaking light floor is obnoxious.
  19. Funny you should mention that squad. I was just looking at it earlier. 4 guys averaging in double digits, a stretch 3 who rebounded, competent big men who didn't need the ball, a defensive stopper...
  20. Right now, the Zips essentially have a 9 man rotation (until Clarke returns). 4 of those players are in the first 15-20 games of their college careers. As such, there are going to be growing pains. As has been mentioned often, this team also needs a third person to step up on offense. Unfortunately, I can't see who that might me. It could be Tavari by the end of February, but he could still be settling in. I've given up on Hunter being that guy. I love Tribble, but he's not that guy. If Hank could get back to being the 13-14 point scorer he was at NIU a couple of year's ago, I guess he could be that guy.
  21. I'm going to be perturbed if we lose Muskingum or Concord to accommodate for this.
  22. Bowling Green is third in the MAC at 77.7 points per game and 8th in defense, giving up 74.1 a game. Zips are 9th in offense at 69.4 ppg and second in defense at 62.3 ppg. I suspect this game could be determined by pace.
  23. Ball State has to he happy with their MAC start. They were predicted to finish 4th in the MAC preseason poll and they've already beaten the teams predicted to finish 2nd and 3rd.
  24. BG beat OU today to get to 8-7/2-0. Kaden Matheny led them with 25 points. He was 5/9 on 3-pointers.
  25. The Zips offense is just painful to watch when they get in that mode of overdribbling and not moving. There was way too damn much of that in the last 10 minutes last night. Last night was Kobe Mitchell's time to step up. He was given 27 minutes. The result- 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 1 turnover. No team can survive on an 8 man rotation when three of them (Mitchell/Hunter/Lyles) combine for 5 points, 3 rebounds and 0 assists. I love the effort Groce gets out of this squad but continue to be concerned about the talent level and this concern is really magnified when X is out.
