  1. Dailey hasn't started since the OU game. Tribble was in the staring lineup for Buffalo and BG.
  2. I think that's the key. You can't let Matheny be a strong third option.
  3. Yes, it is early. However, there's a reason Sean Lewis's name is in the discussion for big school jobs, including Kansas. That program is going in the right direction. We should be so lucky. We'd be erecting a Tom Arth statue if he made that type of progress and won seven games and took the team to a bowl in his second year. Also, the first of your two win seasons wasn't Lewis's.
  4. I think one need look no further than the All-MAC teams to figure out the late season swoon for the Zips.
  5. Another area school (more of a junior college) plays the grinder OOC schedule and in fact set the record for OOC monies, and yet they seem to be improving every year.
  6. Comparing LCJ to Marreon, LCJ scored 4.2 ppg more than Jackson. Their assist and turonver numbers are essentially equal, but Jackson averaged 3.3 more rpg. In the end, if the Zips win the MAC regular season, LCJ might have had a chance to repeat.
  7. Good call. 2nd in rebounding, 1st in blocks, 1st in field goal percentage in the league should get you something. I do see he made the all defensive team.
  8. I guess that's the nod for winning the regular season league title. I have no problem with the first team selections. I think it is telling that the Zips don't have anyone on the second or third teams with only Trimble making honorable mention.
  9. Interesting point from this morning's Beacon article- Arth said 115 student-athletes fill his roster. Of that number, only approximately 15 have any spring practice experience. The current roster includes about 10 players who enrolled early.
  10. I think the general lack of enthusiasm about this team is caused in part by how damn spoiled we were by last year's squad. That team, from performance to team camaraderie, was special and I think we expected teams that followed it to have that same magic, which is an unreasonable expectation. It was a fine season under any objective analysis. I think our altered perception from last year's team, the late season slump and the inability to watch them in person have combined to temper our collective enthusiasm.
  11. An all-time low level of excitement going into the tournament. I really think the inability to bond with these kids by being at the JAR has impacted our fandom this season.
  12. Awful. Puts sports in perspective. In today's day and age when these types of hazing incidents have been given such attention I am amazed they continue. Here's hoping we get to a day when getting unreasonably inebriated is no longer a right of passage for some.
  13. The kid that's really come in to his own for BG and made a difference since their slump is Metheny. He has given them a strong third option to go along with Turner and Plowden. As the season has progressed he's really grown up. Smart player, solid ball handler, good shooter, seems to always play hard. West Virginia player of the year last year.
  14. Last year going into the tournament, I felt confident. This year, I feel hopeful. I think that's telling as to the difference in the two seasons.
  15. Mr. Pinky being cute on Pippen and Hamilton not playing- “Just unavailable to play,” said KSU head coach Rob Senderoff, when asked why Pippen and Hamilton did not play. He added that the team had to “adjust on the fly” to their unavailability.
  16. I think there are 8 teams with a chance to win the MAC tournament.
  17. The number one scorer in the MAC, LCJ, at 21.6 ppg vs. the number two scorer, Turner, at 19.9 ppg. The number two rebounder, Freeman (I hear he's a walk on) at 9 rpg vs. the number four rebounder, Plowden, at 8.1 rpg. BG is averaging 79 ppg while the Zips are averaging 78.6 ppg. I am hoping we see the BG of the past that struggles in the tournament. I fear that they are just now becoming the team the coaches anticipated when they chose them to win the MAC in the preseason.
