You certainly don't want to bring in a kid whose history demonstrates will be a problem. However, if you bring in altar boys and stress character in the program aren't you essentially preaching to the choir? Don't bring on obvious headcases and criminals but they shouldn't hesitate to give a kid a chance who doesn't fit into their ideal character profile and who might most benefit from the character lessons the program can bring.

That seems to be more football based. The basketball posters don't seem to have that aversion. They in fact generally want a more challenging OOC schedule. Maybe its because our basketball team generally has a chance of staying in the game like this than the football team. I'm confident that the basketball Zips will lose to the basketball Buckeyes by less than the 52 of their football counterparts.

The list of guys that went from being a high school head coach to a college head coach, let alone an FBS coach, is damn small. The list of successful ones is even smaller. The natural progression is high school coach- college position coach- coordinator- head coach- head coach FBS school. To Tyrrell's credit, he's brought more top D1 talent to Hoban than Arth has brought to UA.
