  1. NIU did what they could to give that game back to PCCC but they were too inept to take it. Wow, are they lost right now.
  2. The Zips head to Athens Saturday for a matchup against their old nemesis OU. OU comes into the game at 10-9, fresh off of a nine point home loss to Toledo. Jason Preston and Ben VanDer Plas lead OU at 17 and 15 ppg, with Vander Plas leading rebounding at 7 rpg. Our old friend Jeff Boals is in his first season at OU off of a three season stint at Stony Brook, where he compiled a 55-41 record.
  3. Mr. Pinky looks so disheartened.
  4. PCC down There seems to always be one Zip that drives me nuts. This team does not have one of those guys. All likable kids and they seem to like each other and enjoy each other's success.
  5. PCCC down 8 with 5 left.
  6. "...that gets Miami down to single digits at 71-52...errr. double digits..."
  7. Easy to see why Miami is so far down in the MAC defensive stats.
  8. PCCC having issues tonight.
  9. I think Jack's one ugly damn baby.
  10. I think the MAC leads the NCAA in poorly lit arenas.
  11. I think Miami was in the one and one before the first TV timeout.
  12. As I recall, Owens came to Miami at the same time Groce came to UA. He decided to build around freshmen and had a big first recruiting class. I'd think they should be hitting their stride now.
  13. This commercial with the brothers, "I only got cancer so you could tell people you shaved your head..." has become my second to least favorite to the freaking "Earl of Sandwich" commercial we were incessantly subjected to a couple of years ago.
  14. Amen, that jumped out at me too. As a condition of getting the mike, you should at least have to do some research on the opposing team. Looks like X is going to get some looks tonight. Hopefully, he'll have a big game. I understand friends and family there.
  15. One of Shaka's problems is that once he started getting the top recruits he started catering his game plan to the kids he had, assuming they would be better in a pro style game. As a result, he abandoned HAVOC, the formula that got him there. He did this after telling the world HAVOC would work on the P5 level. He was stuck with who he had when he got there, and they were not the personnel for that up tempo madness, but his recruits after that weren't the scrappy kids who would buy in like his kids at VCU.
  16. I get Robby's defense of his dad. Every father should be able to expect the same from his children. That being said, Zips Nation has by and large been supportive of KD and his move to Duquesne. There was initially some criticism driven by emotion that he was leaving "us", like a girlfriend that decided to move on, but most posters appreciated his dilemma and wished him well in leading Duquesne to the promised land he sought as a capstone on his fine career. In the end, we want our "hometown boy" to succeed. Criticism of the schedule and the like are not wishes for his demise. Rather, they're an expression of opinion that's at the heart of a forum.
  17. No question. Their shortcomings have nothing to do with effort. I'll take one Riak or Sayles over a hundred talented head cases (e.g. Harney, Cotton...)
  18. Worse hands- Riak or Sayles?
  19. Millett Hall is one of the top 10 basketball arenas (in Oxford). I think the seats in Yager Stadium are closer to the football field than the seats are to the court in Millett.
  20. The last time I saw a post like this it ended with "I'm drunk." LOL. I do appreciate the enthusiasm.
  21. Willie looks like one of Uncle Drew's counterparts.
  22. It's going to be another one of those years in the MAC!
  23. We ended up with some awful switches in Toledo's run. LCJ was on Jackson and they would run a ball screen with Jackson and a big which the Zips would switch as they generally do, usually putting Riak on Jackson and LCJ on Willie Jackson or Knapke. The result was Riak giving Jackson space and Jackson drilling a three or Riak tightening up and Jackson blowing by him. If Jackson cooled down, we may have seen the bigs exploit Jackson That switch has generally served them well, but with Jackson having the game of his life, it hurt the Zips today.
  24. Groce in the postgame pretty well summed it up- Toledo played great... Zips were very good on offense, not so great on defense...Not the end of the world and on to Oxford.
  25. The 14-4 Zips head to Oxford Tuesday to face the 8-10 Redhawks. The Redhawks are coming off of a 71-62 loss to Ball State in Muncie. I'm always uneasy when the Zips play in Millett Hall. The Rehawks put it on PCCC last week on Oxford. 6'4" junior guard Nike Sibande (#1) is again Miami's leading scorer, tallying 14.6 ppg to go with 6 rpg. 6'7" junior forward Dalonte Brown (#13) leads rebounding at 6.3 rpg while adding 12.7 ppg. Sibande was named to the East Division Preseason All-MAC Team. The Zips need to spring back from the Toledo loss.
