  1. 9 minutes of basketball= 2 points.
  2. Zips playing like they've never seen a zone.
  3. Rough start, awful shooting by the Zips.
  4. EMU throwing in a little 1-3-1.
  5. Nice early general admission crowd
  6. Hoping that there's no rust today and that the Zips get out to a quick start. Up there, they put it away before EMU was aware the game had started. Hoping for more of the same today.
  7. Here's hoping he's okay. Kid always plays hard. You have to root for the local kid even if he did use poor judgment in selecting a college.
  8. Our friends from NCC and their schedule made it into SI! https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/28608177/north-carolina-central-college-basketball-long-unseen-road
  9. Looks like some talented kids coming to Akron, but after last year I sure wish more of them had "OL" behind their names. There must be some real confidence that the kids already on the roster are going to develop.
  10. Tyler needs to be like a melted processed cheese-like food product. Hopefully, his game doesn't give us cardiac issues or the runs.
  11. Listening to Groce on Zips Live. He said he gave the team Saturday and Sunday off, had general pre-season-like practices Monday and Tuesday, took Wednesday off and had EMU specific short practices for Thursday and Friday. As for EMU, Groce referenced their momentum and how they're playing great defense in the 2-3. Pointed out how important it is to get points in transition before they can set up the zone. Also mentioned how they are starting to click on offense recently too.
  12. Murphy has only been mediocre for 9 years. Old Steve has mastered it for almost twice as long! Boeheim assistants must sign an agreement that if they ever leave they'll never venture from the 2-3 zzzzzzone. Murphy, Orr...
  13. If the MAC tournament started tonight.................................................the winner would have one hell of a long wait for the NCAA tournament.
  14. Toledo fans have to be losing their minds. Strange night in the MAC. Flushes lose again, EMU beats Buffalo, Central over BG...
  15. The 12-10 Eastern Michigan Eagles come into the JAR this week for a Saturday afternoon tilt. The Eagles have struggled in the MAC (2-7) but have won their last two against Toledo and Buffalo. They are very balanced with their top 4 scorers all averaging between 10 and 11.3 points. While their record is not very good, a review of the scores indicates that they have been in most of their games and the last two games show they have really come around. The Eagles, as in past years, are big on the front line. Seven-foot center Boubacar Toure, is averaging 10 ppg and 9 rpg a game. Ty Groce, a 6-foot-8-inch junior, leads the team at 11 ppg and 5 plus rpg. The third starter up front is 6-foot-10-inch junior Thomas Binelli. I have 2 GA tickets for the Miami game on the 22nd. If anyone wants them please PM me.
  16. The Zips basketball discussion is on a bye!
  17. I think BG's struggles coincided with Justin Turner's hamstring troubles. 3 of their 5 losses were while he was out and he was still easing back in against PCCC and scored only 4 points.
  18. Never has a coach done less with more...
  19. They've not been very good is one possession half ending situations.
  20. Great game. Would have loved the win, but it's not the end of the world. History tells us these are close games that the home team wins. Get back to work today, finish strong, beat them at the JAR on March 6th and peel them in Cleveland if you get the opportunity.
  21. Our Zips go into a much needed bye week at a very respectable 16-6. After a fast start, the Zips have dropped 3 of their last 5. To their good fortune, it has been a relatively injury free year. LCJ has been outstanding and is clearly a candidate for MAC POY. X has been a welcome and valuable addition. Cheese remains a vital cog and is great when he is aggressive off of the dribble. Banks has been good in spurts and is probably the best perimeter defender. Reece while undersized is the best inside presence. Riak has had his issues but helps guide the defense when he's on the floor. The newbies have seemed to have leveled out. Hopefully, the Zips can build some leads and get them some experience while the above guys get some rest before the tournament. Other than some rest, what do you hope to see the Zips get out of the bye week? I will throw up an EMU thread after the Tuesday games.
  22. Shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!++++!!!!!
  23. Feeling Tyler here.
  24. C'mon Zips.
  25. Anyone headed anywhere to watch the game tonight? I can't bear the thought of paying $20 to see 2/3 of the floor in New Franklin Fieldhouse.
