  1. ...and with any luck it will get picked up by some obscure sports network so that it can tip off at 9 PM!
  2. Yes it was. Brian fart. I'm ahead of where I was yesterday when I kept thinking they were opening with Toledo!
  3. Two things that are jumping out to me so far: 1) Everybody is buying in for the whole game. The defense just never stops. 2) They stick to the plan. There are some very basic ways to attack that two- three zone and while they struggled for the first 5 minutes settling in against it they didn't get frustrated or try to force things.
  4. The Zips open the home MAC season Tuesday night with a visit by 8-6 Western Michigan. Western comes to the JAR fresh off of a MAC season opening 77-65 win in Kalamazoo. WMU was predicted to finish 5th in the west in the MAC preseason poll. 6’1” junior guard Michael Flowers was named to the West Division Preseason All-MAC Team and leads the team at 17 ppg. He is shooting over 40% from the three point line. 6’8” junior forward Brandon Johnson leads the team in rebounding at 8 rpg while scoring 15 ppg. Steve Hawkins is in his 19th year as head coach at WMU.
  5. 1 MAC road win last year. Already 1 this year. Nice start.
  6. Zips really shouldn't have anyone in the game of consequence this late. And with that, we get Marquell and company.
  7. Announcers dismayed by Akron vs. EMU's 3 point shooting percentages. That's the difference between uncontested and contested shots.
  8. You just never see that any more. Makes me crazy.
  9. Announcers harping on the Zips high 3 point percentage thus far. That doesn't explain scoring 20 points in a half. That score has as much to do with UA's defense as their shooting.
  10. Nothing like knocking down a high percentage of 3s to break a zone.
  11. I'll watch for your 3 man wave.
  12. They need to not back off now. Don't give them hope and let them back in the game.
  13. EMU could use some lighting.
  14. Sweet alley oop to Reece.
  15. If the people on here who said they were going are there, the UA fans may outnumber the EMU fans.
  16. Ugly game for the first 5 minutes.
  17. Some full court pressure from the Zips. I like it. EMU was ill prepared for it.
  18. You should fill up on fuel and gasoline near Toledo, on this side of the state line. ---Woody Hayes
  19. Seems like he was there forever. He's playing in Italy. It's actually James the IV. John the 3rd was the coach who led Georgetown basketball into obscurity.
  20. Eastern Michigan looks to have size again, but that doesn't seem to have much benefited them in the recent past. It seems like Toure has been there for a decade.
  21. Jackie Windon is top notch. She's insightful and knows her stuff. Reghi drives me to distraction. He always sounds like he's trying to demonstrate how well his last set of Word Power tapes are working for him. Just too many gushing superlatives.
  22. The Zips open MAC play Saturday with a visit to 10-3 Eastern Michigan. EMU's three losses were to UNLV, Michigan State and UC Irvine. The rest of their OOC schedule was pretty nondescript. 6-8 junior forward Ty Grove leads all EMU scorers at 12.2 ppg. 7 foot senior center Boubacar Toure leads rebounding at 7.8 rpg. Eastern was picked to finish last in the West in the MAC Preseason Poll.
  23. Damn, I am slipping. Off by a point. Can't give up 46 points in a half.
  24. My Sling ESPN 3 took a crap with a minute left. Lovely.
  25. ESPN feed acting up here.
