The CMU/WMU game Saturday was to moved and played just before coaches and parents due to the tragedy at CMU and the search. Looking at the WMU crowd tonight, that may have been a bigger crowd. -

I have a funny feeling the women's game before will go to triple OT so we'll be tipping off around midnight. -
Just to be clear, I am not writing anybody off. Just assessing the reality of the depth we'll have next year. I haven't see any more of Riak than some limited online video and him around the team at games, but his stats indicate to me he that he won't be an offensive force. Here's a UA video on Deng-

I've said this before, but I think it bears repeating. There will be a few Zips that will see something rare in a college career next year, getting fewer minutes per game than they saw in the year prior. K-lac and Patton are obvious choices, but as you guys suggest, Virshon will have a little more competition at the point.

I think they should reach out, expand their horizons and refocus outside of Ohio and PA! -

At the end of the day, it all comes down to the relationships the staff has built and how they prioritize. With a limited staff and budget, UA has to make some tough calls as to where they direct their energies in recruiting. I recall, as Hilltopper referenced, that Thomas built his relationships in the Houston area and that paid off. I suspect it will now pay off for Duquesne, not Akron. -
After extensive and exhaustive research, I went with Clark as tournament MVP because he......has such a catchy last name.

Cause for concern- yes. Write off- no.

I had a tough time hearing last night but I think the announcer said he planned to stay at UA and pursue his degree. Given the Zips recent luck with the health of bigs, I hope he stays close to the phone!

I hope that age and counseling brings him insight and wisdom as I think he could really be a player. All we can do is watch and hope.

Western went from being voted first in the MAC west preseason poll to finishing 4th in the west, 9-9 in the conference and 17-14 overall. Hopefully, their disappointing season ends Monday night. Their bigs don't seem to put up great numbers, so the Zips won't be at a huge disadvantage there. Slow down Wilder and play hard. -
Yes, along with his ability to get pinker and pinker as the game wears on, especially when he gets stressed.
-
Sure was a season of unfamiliar emotions.
-
We can neither confirm nor deny this rumor.

I think I see one weak mind on Kent's team susceptible to that!
-
That also goes to the nature of the athletes you recruit, which comes back on Senderoff and those before him. I'll concede that altar boys generally don't make great basketball players, but you can still recruit good kids your school can be proud of. The Zips have had some "bad citizens" (drug dealers; woman abusers, etc.), but the players and staff have generally remained above instigating on court issues. Cotton has a little but of an "attitude" as demonstrated by his clash with Ivey, his one game suspension and his involvement last night. Hopefully, as someone suggested, the staff can sit him down and prevent issues in the future that could cost the Zips points and him playing time. We all have the propensity to see our team's players as "fiery" and "intense" while similar players on other teams are a "problem" and I don't want us to be blind to bad behavior from "our" players.

It's the new warm and fuzzy Skip!

The other Kent kids seemed pretty well behaved. 2 of them were having a nice conversation after the game with Groce. I guess if I was 7 feet tall and 260 and couldn't be successful against the team with the fewest bigs in the MAC and couldn't take advantage of guards on switches, I'd get a little testy too.

Yes. LOL. FIxed.

Some quick observations: 1) The refs and the Kent staff should be embarrassed by what went down with DeLaRosa. He should have been T'd up AND removed from the bench. He was trying to stir up things from the bench and then went off in the line at the end. No room for that conduct. Funny how he stirs things up with guys like Cotton and Parrish. 2) Atrocious foul shooting from the Zips. 3) Nice leadership from the Zips vets. 4) Nice job with the Canadian National Anthem for Duvivier. 5) I've coached 5th graders with ADHD that had more on court awareness than K-lac. I like the kid, but.....ugh. 6) Mr. Pinky does less with more than any coach in the MAC. 7) Kudos to all of the kids on the floor except DeLaRosa for not getting caught up the emotion. 8) GREAT WIN TO END THE SEASON!
