  1. 12 points and 10 boards for Gray tonight. That kid always comes to play.
  2. We just saw a 15 minute example of how the Zips could lose a MAC game.
  3. Hmmm, I'm only seeing one.
  4. Not a pretty half. Great start then a bunch of uninspired slop.
  5. Okonkwo with a tech. Have a seat young man. PS- you'll get more calls if you go up strong.
  6. Zips playing like they've never seen a zone.
  7. Nice ball movement so far. Groce said in the post-game Saturday that the kids are unselfish and see every shot as "their" shot. It really looks like that.
  8. Rough first half offensively on 2 for 9 from the field, but 7 boards and 2 blocks. Really active.
  9. Hey Zips fans, as you wait for the NIU game the Mad Ants are also playing now on ESPN+ with Enrique!
  10. On a night Okonkwo runs up the silly fouls, Lyles has a substandard game, the threes don't fall and the other team gets hot, this team will lose. I like this team and their chances to win the MAC but history tells me there will be speed bumps along the way, including another injury or two.
  11. It will be because we: 1) lack a viable backup big; 2) have an unchallenging OOC schedule; or 3) are playing too fast.
  12. Scott Walter
  13. History tells me this season will bring at least one inexplicable loss that will lead to the grinding of teeth, wringing of hands and questioning of our love for this team.
  14. The line is Zips -15, under/over is 154. Add a direction to the name of your school in MAC basketball and I immediately lose interest.
  15. So, ummmmmmm, how 'bout that game Tuesday night.
  16. Further proof of the coaching mastery of John Groce.
  17. Agreed. I would hope that if Groce or Morehead was in the news for financial trouble like this that some alum would step up and make some calls to work it out for him rather than leave that black eye on the school. It's probably a sign that the entire Brimfield community has given up and Kenni and wants to see his demise. Embarrassing across the board.
  18. I really don't think he was jawing at the Miami guy. I think we was pointing at and celebrating with his teammates on the bench and the Miami kid was standing between his and the bench.
  19. The bank eventually did get default judgment against old Kenni. Before that ever happens, you get multiple chances to work things out. The judgment is for $23,852.09 plus interest of 13.5% per annum. This for a guy who makes $500K plus a year. It's remarkable that a guy who makes that kind of money couldn't work out a $24K debt. It's nearly as remarkable that a coach of the only D1 athletics program in a county doesn't have somebody running interference for the head football coach. It's all a sign of something very wrong.
  20. The Zips will head west to DeKalb, Illinois to face the Northern Illinois Huskies Tuesday. The Huskies are 5-14/1-6 and are coming off of their first MAC win of the season, a 76-66 win over Ball State. 6’5” sophomore guard, Quentin Jones, a Cal Poly transfer, leads the Huskies at 15.9 ppg while also contributing 4.2 rpg. 6’5” senior guard James Dent, a Western Illinois transfer, is the second leading scorer at 12.8 ppg while adding 5.1 rpg. Terry Copeland, a 6’9” freshman, is the team’s leading rebounder at 6 rpg. The Huskies were chosen to finish 11th in the MAC and so far are living up to that projection but the MAC has seen some strange happenings happen in DeKalb over the years.
  21. Sure guys, you only lost by 3 in the second half (when the Zips let up). You're team is slow and unathletic. Edit: I just looked at their forum and they are actually taking it pretty well.
  22. He got called for a foul just as they went to a timeout and he came out of it with the ball at the Miami end. As he walked to the Akron bench he carried the ball and lazily dropped it at half court, not giving it to an official. Groce saw it as it happened, retrieved the ball and yelled back to Sharron who had made it to the Akron huddle, demanding that he come back to half court where he convened a meeting with himself, Sharron and the official. It was a really bad look for Sharron and he was immediately brought back to learn the lesson. It was well done by Groce.
  23. Twice in one game yet!
  24. Sharron just taught a little person by Groce and the ref.
