He had a rough night offensively so it was nice to see him contribute in other ways. A less mature freshman would not have looked for other ways to chip in.
I said it before, but I really like him and Shammah in the game together. They really play off of each other well. Both can handle the ball and run the point and really play hard on defense. It's like having a second set of starting guards some nights.
The 10-6/4-0 Bobcats come to the JAR for a 6:00 game this Friday to face the Zips.
The Bobcats were predicted to win the MAC and return the most regular contributors of any MAC team this year. We'll see a lot of familiar faces and they've added 6'8" Senior All-MAC forward AJ Clayton is back to lead the Bobcats at 16.8 ppg and 6.3 rpg. 6'2" junior guard Jackson Paveletzke has transferred in from Iowa State and is averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists. 6'4" Second Team All-MAC preseason team sophomore guard AJ Brown kicks in 11.8 ppg.
I used to root a little for Boals as he once worked for Keith but his sideline demeanor over the years has ruined that for me.
The same Beacon referenced that the Zips three point attempts are up from 8 to 11 per game from last year. LOL.
What a fun game. I am really liking the pair of Sharron and Shammah when they come in together.
Interesting. Their schedule and results are mixed, including an opening loss to Central Michigan and a 14 point thumping of Arkansas State just last week. 🤔
I liked what I saw of them at the game at SVSM. The team seemed to be coming together. They have some talent. Dru seemed to be in command and the kids seemed engaged.
I'm bookmarking this guy. I used to have more time to put info in the initial post threads but now just have time to essentially put them up at placeholders to start the discussion. This guy puts out some nice info.
The Zips host the 9-6 Toledo Rockets Tuesday night at the JAR on Roo Blue Night. The Rockets are 3-0 in the MAC with wins over Central Michigan (by 2), Eastern Michigan (by 3) and Western Michigan (by 6).
6’1” sophomore guard Sonny Wilson is leading the Rockets at 15.3 ppg. 6’6” sophomore guard Sam Lewis leads the Rockets in rebounding at 5.7 rpg and is second in scoring at 14.3 ppg. 6’7” Javan Simmons was named to the All-MAC Preseason First Team and is averaging 11.7 ppg and 5.1 rpg. Second teamer 6’7’ 5th year guard Isaiah Adams averages 9.5 ppg and 7.7 rpg. They were selected 4th in the MAC Preseason Poll.
From today's Beacon/Ohio.com article-
Akron junior Josiah Harris has missed the last seven games with an injury. Groce said Harris' status is to be determined.
Groce said four players are utilizing a redshirt: freshmen Eric Mahaffey, Rich Brisco and Conner Groce (Revere graduate) and sophomore Zach Halligan (Walsh Jesuit graduate).
I'm more of a fan of it when the ball is going in the basket! LOL.
In reality, I am not a fan of the fast pace and the heavy reliance of 3 pointers but I think it is essentially the type of offense they're forced to play if they wish to be successful given the composition of the team.
