  1. Two yellows. His first was a poorly timed jump that resulted in a collision of heads. The second was a late tackle from behind on Benny Feilhaber. Both warranted cautions, IMO.
  2. I believe that Souders and Najem were wearing the captains' armbands this match. Didn't notice who it was against Dayton, though.
  3. Zarek Valentin tore his Achilles today. Such a tough injury. Hope to seem him back on the field as soon as possible.
  4. The Montreal Impact signed Evan Bush when they made the move to MLS (even though it was from NASL and not USL).
  5. Not sure if anyone watched the post game press conference on YouTube, but I loved when Dambrot corrected that reporter for calling Tree a senior. It was something like "Junior. It says senior on the sheet, but he will be back next year."
  6. I respectfully disagree. I didn't need Jake to get an award to realize how valuable he is. Award or no, I was concerned about the team playing without him.
  7. In case anyone missed it, Hunter is leaving CCU: http://zipsnation.org/forums/topic/31007-hunter-became-the-hunted/?hl=hunter
  8. Speaking of 3rd year, will Tree and Harney be honored at Senior Night tomorrow since they are both listed as seniors even though they almost certainly will be back next year?
  9. The 91st Minute Blog over at TDS posted a list of their Top Ten: MLS's Most Entertainingly Technical Players, and they ranked Darlington Nagbe #1 (over players like Thierry Henry, Landycakes, and Dempsey). Obviously this list means virtually nothing, but still pretty cool to see.
  10. Here is video of Abreu's speech at the event. I haven't watched it yet, but figured I'd post it.
  11. Both George and Louis played for the USMNT, I believe.
  12. Anyone know where I can get a pair of those gloves? Haha
  13. This is old, but I always think of it when schools storm the court. Rick Reilly's Rules
  14. Me too. Although I believe he is already on campus, so maybe we'll see him in the spring games.
  15. Haha wow. I guess I was 6 months late on that news. Not sure how I missed that.
  16. Using context clues, it looks like Nathan Quirk (Liverpool Academy) is coming to Akron in the next couple weeks. He was talked about in the 2013 recruiting thread, but didn't end up here. The clues are: Embick tweeted his excitement over the players coming in and said stay tuned; some Akron players retweeted a tweet saying Quirk was going to get his 5-year US Visa; and Quirk himself said he would be in Ohio in 2 weeks. Either way, the announcement Embick was referring to could give us some insight into the squad for the spring games.
  17. mlssoccer.com is releasing an article tomorrow with its MLS combine coverage that should be of interest to us: FEATURE: "The secret behind Caleb Porter's success?" -- Matt Doyle on how the current Portland Timbers coach (right) turned tiny Akron into a college soccer powerhouse. Source Not a fan of the use of "tiny" in that headline.
  18. That -4 was Zeke's +/- ranking. This just shows that the other team scored 4 more points than Zeke's team did while Zeke was on the floor. The efficiency rating of +5.08 is a different stat. It is defined as: The NBA's Efficiency Rating is a single number measure of a player's overall contribution (both positive and negative) to a game he plays in.((Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks) - ((Field Goals Att. - Field Goals Made) + (Free Throws Att. -Free Throws Made) + Turnovers)) Source
  19. I already posted this in the Timbers thread, but Porter traded up to get Steve-O. Link
  20. Coach Porter adds another former Zip. Excited to see Steve-O with the Timbers! Link
  21. Zarek Valentin posted this picture a bit ago, and I've been meaning to post it.
  22. SC being in Hawaii, too makes it a little better. It could still be a tough game, though. If the $$ is true I'm totally fine with it haha. Plus, the 4pm eastern start time is better for me than a Hawaiian time could be!
  23. The travel was definitely tough, which worries me a little bit about the South Carolina game. Playing there 3 days after spending an extended period in Hawaii at Christmas will not be easy.
