Nice mix of play calls and good decisions by Nelson. Williams and Morris really help make it tough to only try to shut down Smith.

Kato settled down and started using his offe se, but these penalties are horrible. Nice kick by Gasser. Defense looks very good. The offe se needs to step up. Let's put Ritz in as center. Peterson is killing us. I would like to see any player with a 15 yr unsportsman-like benched for a half for the rest of the season. I am so sick of those crap calls.

Again, if you do not offer scholarships to quality specialists, you won't get them. Snappers, punters, and kickers no longer have to wait to win the starting job to get scholarships.

I will say, they seem to be giving us more respect than most P5 schools. Their press conference was more than the fake compliments we usually see from opposing coaches. I said this last year. Kato needs to let the game come to him I stead of trying to do too much. He did that in the Ohio game, so he can do it. If he can make it a goal to help other guys have big plays, he will have big plays, himself. That does not mean that he never tucks and runs but that he is looking to let the offensive system work. One thing we did nit really see was what our 3rd or 4th and short looks like this year. We did well with MTB carrying the ball. Can one of the new big guys carry that or will we see MTB back there, again? I think his height helped him see where and when he could make his move.

And I was thinking of Woody's ability to carve up a 1AA team vs. Kato.

Very similar, I think he was a redshirt sophomore and he won the job within the first few games, after Pohl had a concussion against Pitt.

I sprained my MCL last winter after a fall on the ice. It can be very painful but heals pretty quickly.

I asked myself. This AM if he looked as good as Tommy did against a 1AA team at that point and I am not sure he did. He has the talent, and can certainly have the rock 60+ yards, but I am not sure he has the same smart Tommy did.

This is not his first such penalty. The fumble in the backfield was on him, IMHO. He has a rocket of an arm and decisio-making is OK, but accuracy still needs work. I have an issue with the quantity of personal fouls he has racked up plus the report of him fighting in practice. Those are all selfish choices. Once...OK...give a kid a chance to grow up. He has had multiple if those type of penalties. That's not leadership. We were bitten by Woodson's selfishness and really left without a chance to win at the end of the season. I would hate to see the Zips get bit by the selfishness of another QB. If he cannot grow up, let's bench him and see if Ramart can handle himself with more maturity.

Not an overly impressive showing by the offense. FG unit is still going to give us heartburn. Not a very good test if the D, but they more than got the job done with bvb the first team unit. Ramart needs more live reps. Let's hope he sees them throughout the season and not just in garbage time.

As much as I want to see MTB have a great year, he doesnt seem to be any better as a WR as he was before. We are set with Smith, Morris, Williams, and Stewart. I liked MTB better at TE/HB.
