  1. Yeah, I saw that, but nothing really grabbed my attention. I can see why we are underdogs, but we can compete.
  2. I agree, not the same matchup as last week, at all. ISU seems far more physical than NU. I think on offense we have opportunities, although the run game is going to be tough. Also, Kato might be forced to make decisions a little quicker. We will really see if the O line is any good this week. They were very good last week, but NU was not very impressive on D up front. The ISU secondary played fairly soft, so there may be opportunities for us in hooks and other mid yardage routes. I also think we can beat them over the top. Their secondary dies nit seem to tackle well. I would like to see us get some guys in space. I think Edward's can break it if we dump him some short to medium yardage passes. On defense, it is largely limiting the damage their big bodies receiver can do. Their o line is not incredibly impressive so if we can put quick pressure on the QB, I think we can force mistakes. He got a way with a couple of dangerous plays against OSU. I am assuming they will ti take advantage of the size mismatch with their big receiver, as much as possible. I expect us to play for field position. The game gets tougher for Kato if he is buried and unless we unveil some of our bigger bodies backs this week, I think getting buried deep will be tough to climb out of. I doubt we will catch ISU flat footed. They are hungry for a win, aware of what we did, and Campbell certainly knows what TB can do.
  3. That was a painful article. The truth is that despite all of these talent rankings, there are reasons we do not let bots handle recruiting, yet. Putting your eggs in the talent ranking basket is always a gamble. There are injuries, kids do not work out as hoped, chemistry, coaching, and then the intangibles emotional element. My question to NU is, "Where was your player leadership?"
  4. Nicely done, Roo. Evidently not. Snapping is a big exposure, right now. Going to a snapping coach takes time and money and generally travel.
  5. She must have appreciated quality play, lol.
  6. Alvin talked about the pep talks from KB at the half and going into the 4th, so I think you are right about senior leadership. I am headed through Des Moines right around noon on Saturday. I wish I had 4 hours to spare, but I'll be listening live, for sure. I wish the timing lined up for me even to be going through in the second half
  7. Really happy for Jojo to get a return like that. If the Rams don't keep him, someone will.
  8. If you have not spent some time perusing the NW message board after our win, please do. It's a dumpster fire. The one thread that is consistent is that they seem to believe their team has more talent than we do. I saw zero evidence of that. Their interceptions came from pressure on the QB and the fumble was a great strip. We had decidedly more speed, as was documented before the game. My question going into the game was how far along our talent was, at this point.
  9. I am sure every officiating eye was looking for pass interference and holding.

  11. Iowa State is favored by 3 TDs : https://247sports.com/college/iowa-state/Article/Iowa-State-Akron-Cyclones-favored-by-three-scores-121989351/
  12. I had BTN and still didn't get the game and had to rely on their stream.
  13. I will be cutting the cord, soon and switching to Youtube TV. There are not many reasons to stay with cable any more.
  14. Iowa State expects the starting QB to be out, again this week, although he seems fairly capable of putting together a win. What stands out is our defense. Iowa State seemed to have one guy who tackled well where we had 3 guys in double digit tackles and Davis with 8. I now agree with Bowden, that this might be the best defense we have seen, which says a lot when you think back to 2014. If Kato can continue to make good decisions and be patient until we get the ball into our recievers' hands, we can win. We now have enough depth at receiver to make the difference. I actually think depth at receiver and our run defense improvements are the big difference between last year and this year. Our OL is not creating giant holes, but enough to keep defenses honest and protect the QB.
  15. The announcers said Sampson arrived late with the hit, but I did not see it. The BTN announcers were, obviously seeing things through a NW fan's eyes, although they also treated us with more respect than P5 announcers or other networks usually do. That being said, I hated the camera work and the whole BTN experience.
  16. Really nice to see. They treated us with more respect before the game. Based on his press conference this week, he recognized where they would be vulnerable to us and respected the coaching we have. The shame is that this win gets lost in the overall bad day that the B10 had and the click bait headline about the last time we beat a B10 program. What I hate about the headline is that it is not really true. We have never beat a B10 team, prior to last night.
  17. The NW weaknesses matched pretty perfectly with our strengths. It really was the perfect recipe for a win. I think Nebraska would have been a very similar match-up. I did not catch where Wolfley lined up on his TD catch. Did he line up as a FB? I thought I heard the announcer say that. I saw on the postgame interview that the pass, leaving :02 left was a designed and practiced play that Kato executed too quickly. That being said, if Kato can play like he did in the second half all year, we can compete with anyone. We have receivers who can make plays. Their route running will improve and overall, the chemistry will improve. I really like Morris, Williams, Stewart, and Wolfley. MTB made a nice grab but Smith had one go right through his hands. Nelson showed good decision-making but there was not a lot of pressure and not a very good secondary to hamper him. Sometimes you need that type of set-up in a big game to let the confidence kick in. There was some nice improvement from game 2 to game 3 (or however we are calling it.) Let's hope the Zips call in a Long Snapping coach this week and put him on retainer for the season.
  18. He might be the hardest hitter on the team and the unsportsmanlike conduct call was really questionable. He really has some nice highlight film after last night.
  19. The stats surprised me. We had 2 offensive TDs and less than 300 yards passing. The second half felt explosive, offensively, and we did have success but the win goes to the D, for sure. 3 defensive TDs is just outstanding. Now, to be able to focus on Iowa State without this going to their heads...
  20. Last year, apart from Nelson's repeated taunts, the team seemed much better with penalties and discipline. Tonight was frustrating, for sure. As much as I would tend towards the old school, bench them all, it just wouldn't motivate today's players. I also love the same old complainers whining about how bad our coaching is on the Zips FB Facebook. Give it a rest. You just show how small you are when you do this on the night we score our first B10 win, the season after we win the MAC East and make our second bowl appearance in 3 years.
  21. Meanwhile. .. Husker fans, everywhere, are coming to the realization that Akron is not the cupcake they thought.
  22. I am betting they did not punt because of the horrible snap in Q1. That would have been a bad spot to turn it over. The pass with :02 remaining, though????
  23. Nice to hear the, "Let's Go Zips!" cheering from crowd.
  24. Bell, Alvin Davis, and Jamal Davis all have had career nights tonight. Well done, guys.
  25. Holy cow...get that flag ready
