  1. I think some UA students will surely wander down to the ballpark for something to do, especially for an excuse to get out and enjoy a nice day. But in early May, that will be over anyway.
  2. Hilltopper.....I was wondering the same thing.
  3. Sportsjunkie..........Only 7 out of 10 ?? You don't sound very convinced. And please explain why the day of the week has any part in the conversation, or would have any impact worth mentioning
  4. Thanks Keener. But, you are forgetting that there is an easy solution.....Become one of those teams that can produce the attendance money and fanbase
  5. How strange will it be to go to the MAC Center to watch the Zips play CSU at Ken+ ??
  6. No LZip, I didn't conveniently leave out the fact that two of them made it to the final 4. It's actually precisely my point. I'm sure there's some frustration that the school that you so vehemently defend on an Akron Forum has only an Overtime win over a former Akron assistant as their lone win in the last two tournaments, but good teams are good teams, and good overall conferences with considerable depth is an entirely different issue. Try to make the latter point when your beloved Big 10 had one legitimate title contender, and a 2nd team that made a remarkable run before being exposed and destroyed by a bunch of Freshmen. Nobody is raving that the WCC deserves more bids because Gonzaga is a part of the conference. You reward good teams. You don't reward entire conferences because they had a good team. Four or five seemed warranted. Seven was ridiculous.
  7. Why would the level of their aspirations mean anything in regards to their ability to teach and coach the players that are in front of them?
  8. The national debate regarding whether to give an opportunity to a really good team out of a mid-major conference vs. a weak team out of a "more highly regarded" conference will go on. It's frustrated me ever since I've been a Zips fan. The argument gets even stronger for our side when you witness a year like 2015, where a ridiculous 7 teams are given admission to the tournament from a conference here in the Midwest, and 5 of them are gone BEFORE WE EVEN REACH THE END OF THE FIRST WEEKEND. Please, give me the #2 team in the MAC over the #7 team in the friggin Big 10.....ANY day. The tournament would increase it's value to sports fans nationwide. Unfortunately, attendance money and size of fanbase rules the day. We may never be able to change that.
  9. Me too. I saw it as a safe, short term move. But they may have passed on one of the best opportunities a school like that can ever have to go out and attract coaches nationwide with a "We're going to be a Butler/Gonzaga" message.
  10. I can't particularly get thrilled when our former assistant coaches are currently just assisting at another D-1 program. I guess I just wish we could brag that an assistant job at a highly successful Top-100 D-1 program like ours would lead to head coaching jobs. I hope Jeff can make another jump soon. Like I said previously, getting out of OSwho now might be his best move. A couple of years ago, before the slide, would have certainly been better.
  11. The funny part is that it appears Perkins "feels" like he has a pivot foot established the entire time, but that foot continually comes off the floor, and moves several feet between the beginning and end of the sequence. It's either lack of concentration, or fatigue. But it's unbelievable that nobody called that. Honestly, I think he's already traveled even before he plants the pivot the first time. Thanks for sharing. This is hilarious.
  12. No, I wasn't implying that you were ON a roller coaster. I am saying that the Roller Coaster is ahead. Reggie may not have gotten you the Jackpot, but you guys traded stability for instability. The departure of the next coach after only 2 years could easily send you down the OU path, and take years to recover.
  13. Shoulda stuck with the loyal guy you had before. It's sure worked for us. Now you guys will have to deal with the rollercoaster.
  14. I agree. I hope people aren't out there thinking he built a program or anything. This Bulls program had been consistently good for years. This time, they just happened to win the title. And they only had to win 2 basketball games to do that. It's not some Herculean feat. But titles often get more attention, without people noticing the details.
  15. Ok, now I really want to know more. This entity is going to be playing at the Rubber Bowl in 2015? As their website suggests? After the pictures we just saw, I guess they could walk in there and play a football game on that field, but there's not going to be any allowable safe public or team access to any other part of that stadium. And the money it would take to make this venue even remotely inhabitable is going to be invested for this? Something that might attract...what...a few dozen paying fans per game? Come on. There's no way anyone involved could possibly think this is actually going to even happen there.
  16. PERFECT. Thanks for sharing this fact.
  17. He's GONE !! I just saw a report pop up. Good work UAZip0510. That didn't take long to happen.
  18. Hey Dave, since I mentioned "Rolling Acres", I would like to expand on that tourism idea. How about if we include Rolling Acres as a bus stop on that tourism campaign, then we can include "Ancient American Football Stadium" and "Ancient American Shopping Mall" on the same tour? I'm sure that the people of the 30th Century would be quite fascinated with Akron's bygone way of life.
  19. That's usually the beginning of the end. Assuming that they paid cash for it, there's no bank lien. They could let it go and it would eventually be auctioned for the county to recover their property taxes. Unless, the property tax liens have been "sold" to a lienholder, in which case, someone other than the county already has a claim to the property. Like I said, usually it's hard to recover from this point. It seems as if they had potential plans, but may have decided to abandon them? The only other option, I believe, would be to try to sell the property. But with a 73K lien on it, what are the chances?
  20. Rolling Acres Mall looks like the Taj Mahal compared to this. I'd say it's now way far past putting a dome on it and reopening it. Maybe 10s of millions of dollars past that, not even including the dome. And that's besides the yearly maintenance/operating expenses that the U of A already said was unsustainable. Maybe we should just continue to let it deteriorate, and use it as a tourist attraction like the Roman Coliseum a few thousand years from now, and bill Akron as the new Athens, Greece, and draw tourists from around the world, and tell them about some ancient, barbaric game called "Football", that used to be played in the venue.
  21. An easy way for the Reds to try to get some Buckeye Honks to a baseball game to fill up a stadium. Obviously, they weren't anticipating the backlash. Kudos to the Cincinnati folks for demonstrating once again that they have their own college sports team. If only Akron people had the same local pride.
  22. I really think that the bottom line is this: If you look back at the first year, with Dalton at QB, that is what he wants from his offense. He wants to get the ball down the field quickly, primarily with the passing game, and score. We really haven't gotten that with Pohl over 2 years. We even witnessed that blazing first half against Ball State last year where Woodson looked like he might be able to be that guy, but it appears that hope for him being that guy faded rather quickly after that. So, I think you will see us continue to move in another direction until we find the guy who can do that. Now that other potential candidates to give Terry that kind of guy have arrived, I don't have a feeling that we'd go backwards again.
  23. Oh, I totally agree. Although there has probably never been any official definition of a "Cinderella", I'm sure just about anyone would agree that it refers to someone rising out of relative obscurity. And that would not define Michigan State.
  24. That's often what makes the first couple of rounds much more fun to watch than the last couple of rounds.
  25. LOL....actually, I think you did a much better job than I did. And the person who came up with the idea should always get much more credit than the person who copied it. That really was funny. It came out of nowhere, and was completely unexpected.
