  1. I never understood the Silver. And I never will. I also think that the "A" on the side of the shorts of the Blue uniforms looks like someone took some white tape and put the letter on the sides of the shorts right before the team ran out of the locker room.
  2. I wonder how much we can compare the time he's probably spent analyzing Akron's QB situation vs. Cowlumbus State?
  3. Concerning Jakubick....... For any of you delusional "Akron doesn't compete with the Suckeyes" theorists, I was recently reading a cool "Forgotten Legends" article about him, and interestingly found out that he was heavily recruited by OSWho and Wisconsin, and CHOSE to go to Akron. http://collegehoopsnet.com/jon-teitels-forgotten-legends-series-akron-great-joe-jakubick-169259 #TeamOhio
  4. And Jakubick as a wing/forward. I think those two needed to be switched.
  5. Absolutely. And I love Steve. But, I'd also take The Cricket over either of them, like MDZip suggests. Tarver might be hard to overlook for his scoring, but I can see an argument for someone like Linhart or Wood for their total 4-year contributions, and more multi-dimensional games.
  6. I agree. I actually can't even believe that this is a debate.
  7. He answered that question himself at the breakfast where he and his brothers and father spoke. In fact, that person was in the room that morning, and he acknowledged him and pointed him out to everyone.
  8. Spin was implying about whether we should "credit him" with Terry's hiring, and not the AD. I only shared what I know about one of the major players in the process, and the one who actually initiated it. And it was an individual, not the search committee. So, if we're crediting an individual with his hiring for simply being one of the many members of the search committee, that's pretty weak. I'm curious if there's more information that I don't know about.
  9. I expect the challenge next year from CMU, and possibly from Buffalo. But I love that the Ken+'s challenge this year may have been temporary. They were very much Sr. loaded. I also think we can all agree that since Toledo was able to beat a healthy Zips team at both locations, it's nice to see that they have arguably lost their 3 biggest contributors.
  10. Spin, without copying your post, let me just share a couple of factual things I'm aware of before we go any further with this discussion. 1) Yes, ICoach was traveling to the funeral, but requested to be contacted as soon as a decision was made. 2) A key member of the business community and a sponsor was heavily involved in getting Terry interested in the Akron opportunity. And Terry has acknowledged this himself publicly. What was the old O-lie-O State football coach's involvement?
  11. How about our old friend (and now hated nemesis to some people?) Shaka having the opportunity to knock the Suckeyes out of the tournament in the opening round for the 2nd year in a row? I hope everyone else has picked all Ohio teams to win opening round games in their brackets, because any Ohio team that wins is good for us. #TeamOhio
  12. So was I, because nobody was in standing in front of them.
  13. Fighting for balls is physical. When you are playing "man" defense, ensuring that you are between your man and the basket when a shot goes up is mental. With most players, it's even automatic. Like I pointed out, you are usually naturally in that position anyway if you are on the defensive end of the floor. I'm quite confident that if you watched any basketball game in which a team had 17 offensive rebounds, you'd find plenty of instances where an offensive player simply had an open path to the ball.
  14. I didn't have as big of a problem with Kwan taking 5 long shots as I did with our exhausted Point Guard taking 10 of them. Maybe this was all dictated by who was defending who, but Deji and Jake appeared to be on-target from long range, yet they only took 7 combined attempts in the game. We did a much better job of finding the guys with the best looks from 3-point range in the previous 4 games.
  15. For those who think that MAC officiating is just bad, all around, I want to give you a good example. This particular situation victimized us on several occasions last night, but it's still a great example. When two guys have both of their hands wrapped around a rebound, it's OK to call that a Jump Ball. Fine. But in one instance, you can't call that a Jump Ball, and decide in another instance that it's OK to wait a few seconds to see if one of the players can rip it out of another player's hands. It's nowhere near the subjective situation that often occurs with a Charge/Block call. And if someone has an arm hooked under another player's arm during the held ball, it can't be a foul in one instance, and a Jump Ball in another. I think most people would agree that they just want consistency throughout the course of the game so that the players decide the outcome, and they were all over the place on this one last night.
  16. I'll acknowledge that fresher teams can sometimes run down a couple of long rebounds that result in loose balls better than a tired team. But, missed 3-pointers resulting in "long rebounds" can't explain such a big offensive rebounding disparity in this case. 1) Missing 11 3-pointers in a game is not a lot. 2) Defensive players who are mentally into the game are boxing out all over the floor, whether the shots are long or short. 3) The defensive players are already naturally in better position than the offensive players. 4) Buffalo had one player...one player (Xavier Ford)...who exceeded Akron's entire total of offensive rebounds for the night as a team, and he was their Center.
  17. That's certainly one way to look at it.
  18. I remember when Keith kept pointing and yelling at that official during a 2nd half timeout. He also talked in the postgame about an instance where an official raised his arm to indicate a foul, didn't blow the whistle, and then allowed the play to go on, which is unacceptable. I wonder if this all had to do with the same incident, and if anyone can tell us the specific non-call that this involved?
  19. I want to see us play again. But, I can't help but to think about the way we've played so lethargically in those last couple of trips to "lower" tournaments. If that's what we'd get, I don't want it. That's up to the players to convince their coach that they want it. But maybe more importantly, it's up to the coach to decide if his team is physically able to compete. I also understand that the program may be at a point where there's simply nothing to gain by it. It was talked about quite extensively in the postgame. It's a tough call.
  20. If anything was going to fail us tonight with the tired legs, I would have never guessed that it would have been something as simple as getting into good position for defensive rebounds. Buffalo wasn't playing well offensively tonight, but got WAY too many 2nd chances. I think the way Buffalo stepped into some passing lanes at critical times came as a surprise to us. We played with guts, we played with heart, but they had a little more bounce than us in their feet tonight. Keith was right. We would have beaten them tonight if we were on equal footing with rest this week.
  21. Buffalo will get some fans. But, since it's a Friday evening and not a Saturday championship game, I bet we'll outnumber them 10 to 1 It should be close to a home game for us, but the arena might not be full enough for us to get a JAR-like atmosphere.
  22. I never played there, but different gyms create different things in your line of sight. And this is unlike any gym that our conference plays in. I was just stating that there could be some advantage for the team that's been looking at those targets for two nights already.
  23. Make a run? It's already a run, we just want it to be longer. You know, there aren't many advantages to playing this many games and playing rested teams. But, we've been shooting on these baskets for two nights already. It's very awkward to be shooting at baskets that sit in the middle of a large, cavernous arena. That's an advantage that hopefully can pay off for us tonight.
  24. The great thing is that this guy probably felt like the biggest fool on the planet when he walked out onto the streets after the loss.
  25. Yes, Keith talked again about how he shortened the bench last night. But he also made reference to the fact that he has a "fresh Aaron Jackson" for tonight. So, I'd expect to see him play some minutes. Having an active body out there in Game 4 of this week will hopefully give us some much needed energy.
