  1. I never watched an Akron soccer game when Ken Lolla was here Yes, thankful we won today and didn't have the scenario that you're talking about. But, I was just addressing why you think the committee would suddenly give a Top 4 seed to a team that's never been in the mix before, and is coming out of the MAC. I'd be shocked if that happens.
  2. ACC Weenie? I'm talking about how many times Akron should have been seeded higher after winning the MAC Tourney. I wouldn't expect a "new" MAC tourney champ with no history to be given something favorable that Akron often was never able to get. When did "deserved" start appearing like the major criteria of the selection committee when evaluating the MAC tourney champ?
  3. With everything we've gotten screwed on over the years, wouldn't it suck if an unknown program, with no history like WMU would get a Top 4 seed? It will be a cold day in Kalamazoo on Sunday. Maybe not as cold as today, but it's probably not the kind of weather that everyone would hope to have to maximize our ability to execute.
  4. Bring it on. We need it. Maybe not the biggest game in our history (We won a MAC Title Game in 2005), but it's right up there. Definitely the key win we need to get us to our 2nd MAC title game.
  5. I was in the athletic offices late last week, and I can confirm that they were about to leave for Canisius. So, I'm going to assume that this scrimmage happened. There were no snowstorms in Buffalo last week that would have stopped it.
  6. In the real world, that's usually the case. In the Athletics World, people swoop in to try to snag the hot commodity, to beat everyone else to the punch.
  7. I've always wanted to end up on a flight with someone famous. Never happens. But you forgot one important fact. Majors made a stop in Pitt and won a National Championship in between his tenures at ISU and Tennessee.
  8. That would create some drama, and would certainly attract some press coverage and fan interest. That's exactly what we need.
  9. No need to worry. The national media (and hopefully the Beacon Journal) doesn't have much of a reason to talk about them anymore this year either.
  10. Exactly.
  11. Oh boy. And both OU and Akron beat Bowling Green by similar scores. So, what does that indicate?
  12. First, I have to laugh at this. If it wasn't for some of your entertainment, I might be less motivated to come here so often right now. I agree with all of this, and have cited it in some of my posts. I actually can't believe that some tried to argue with me on this. But it still doesn't change the fact that this is one football game, at home, in the friggin MAC East. Like I said. Starting when we joined the MAC in 1992, how many times have we been in this position? I'm going to enjoy it.
  13. Of course a former successful MAC coach would never be good enough for the mighty "no prayer of making the playoff" Suckeyes. Oh wait a second. On a related note, this might happen sooner rather than later. I feel another Fake Heart Attack coming soon.
  14. I think you have it in the right context. I would expect people to believe that OU is better than us right now. But I wouldn't expect people to ignore the recent history of the OU/UA game, the unpredictable nature of the MAC East, and focus on one loss (Miami on Tuesday) as an indicator of how much "hope" we should have next Tuesday. With everything we've been through as Zips fans in recent years, we should all be thrilled to be in this position.
  15. Agreed. But Miami was a road game, and OU is a home game. I don't either. But it doesn't change how I feel about having a home game to win the MAC East title in November. I'll put this out there as well. We lost to them 14-12 in 2015, and 9-6 last year. 1) It's obvious our defense has taken the OU game pretty seriously lately. 2) It's pretty obvious that the scores of these games would never have been what anyone would have predicted.
  16. For which team? Toledo played a horrible game. Not how they've been playing lately, and against some good teams.
  17. I said this in another thread, but I will repeat it here. MAC teams play great games and awful games during the course of a season. I think that may be what we saw last night. So, I think it could just as easily happen next Tuesday night as well. We just have to hope that we''re the team playing great that night.
  18. That's what I am getting at. Some poster who highlight the unpredictability of the MAC every day are some of the same people who are also saying that they somehow find it to be unfathomable that one MAC East team can play unusually great on a given day, and one can play unusually bad. In fact, that's probably what happened between OU and Toledo just last night.
  19. I am serious. When was the last time we were in this position to Win the MAC? Until that ends, we should be excited about it. This is probably right. OU's run game (and our difficulty stopping the run) will probably be the difference in this game unless we can put them into a position where they have to throw. I don't know if too many people remember how that all ended in 2004 (Brookhart's first year). We needed Michigan State to beat Hawaii to knock them out of eligibility, and Hawaii ended up coming back from an early 20-0 deficit to win, and they ended up being awarded the last bowl bid. We were the only team in the country that year that was eligible (had a winning record), but did not get a bid.
  20. I know. I posted that at halftime.
  21. And the 107th ranked offense in the country just racked up 55 points against the Suckeyes. And who on this board predicted that JoJo would have both hands on the ball last year in the end zone in Athens last year which would have brought home a victory? I get it. We can look at other games and think this doesn't look good. But, writing this off right now is going to drain the enthusiasm of being in a position that we haven't experienced in November in a very, very long time. OU's players are laughing right now if they are reading our message board. But, maybe that's exactly what we want ?
  22. That 2nd half of the OU/Toledo game scared me. OU's offense had been scoring a lot of points, and I was pleased to see them sputtering in the first half. The 2nd half was an entirely different story. But it's still one football game in Akron, with the title on the line. What more can we ask for ?
  23. Yes. I said it before we even played last night. And the outcome hasn't changed that situation. If you meant that to be funny, I don't know why that's amusing. How many times since 1992 have we entered a game on Nov. 14th with the MAC title right in front of us, and needing help from nobody else to win it? We've hoped for this moment for years. Enjoy.
  24. This would be the biggest failure for me. What if they HAVE prepared for this situation with Kato, and they DID put together a plan that they thought would work with him. And they just ended up being completely wrong about what they thought he could do?
