  1. In general, I'd think that if you're hoping for walk-ons to contribute, that's probably not a good sign.
  2. So....For you experts on MAC Soccer.....When the heck was the last time that Akron did NOT host the MAC Tournament? No chance we can still host?
  3. Good research. I was actually just guessing that there was probably not a champ with 7 losses. I might not have even guessed that there was a champ with 6 losses. But the 18 game schedule certainly makes that possible.
  4. Nothing wrong with being a homer. But realistically, where do you think we should EXPECT to finish, considering our lack of personnel, and a coach with a 71-83 conference mark in his 9 years of coaching?
  5. I think the winner having an 11-7 record would be embarrassing for the league. Lets hope you're wrong on that one
  6. That probably puts you right in line with the MAC preseason poll that shows we'd be a 4th place team in the MAC East. And you're probably somewhere in line with me too. I'm just hoping they can bring us more than 10 wins.
  7. Click on the link, and tell me if those guys look more like a Teenage Boy Band than college soccer players.
  8. Depending on where you look for your weather forecast..................The rain could be moving up, and will start overnight on Friday, during Saturday morning, and during the game. And the Temps could be sliding backwards into the 40's during the course of the morning hours. I went lower on the scoring output, which was different than I felt a few days ago, when we were going to be in the 50's, and rain wouldn't start until mid-afternoon.
  9. I'm sure he's just incredibly grateful to have any job in Division IA football right now.
  10. I noticed all of the great camera work and broadcasting. It was on ACC Network Extra......or something like that. I suppose they have a little more money than us peons over here in the MAC
  11. I get that, Kreed. Maybe what's really noticeable for an old guy like me is that the early MAC years had everyone playing for a trip to the Silver Bowl in Vegas. A prime Winter destination for fans, and one of only maybe 20 bowl games at the time? It wasn't like a New Years Bowl Game, but at least the MAC title came with a much, much more significant Bowl Reward for the champ. Today (although half the teams get a bowl game today), you could probably take all of the Bowls rewarded to all of the MAC teams, throw them in a barrel, and pick out names.
  12. In this era of "a million bowls", it is actually disappointing that the MAC Champ really doesn't have any advantage in terms of being placed in anything close to a high profile Bowl. Or, even a bowl that is notably more high profile than some of the teams that finished behind them.
  13. And 426 total. I felt like that was pretty notable, considering the poor weather conditions. When you add in the Toledo massacre, I just hope that we find that these were just two good offense performances by two good offensive teams. But regardless, that needs to end this week. And if the last two games are any indication, Buffalo is struggling to run the football, and may have difficulty throwing if the wet/cold weather forecast holds up.
  14. I like hearing "control our own destiny" on Oct. 25th. Again, I think that was the advantage of having a couple of the easier conference games up front, and having that opportunity to jump ahead of everyone else.
  15. I'd objectively say that we're 1 game better than expected thus far (the Western Michigan road win). Hard to say if reasonable expectations will be met when we hit the 12th game. Anyone who predicted 4 wins will probably be wrong. Those predicting an 8 win season will almost certainly be wrong at this point too. I guess it's all a matter of exactly what each individual person expected.
  16. I specifically pointed out the massive yardage difference in the WMU game, and got a couple of "well, who won the game?" kinds of posts in response. Maybe it was a harbinger of things to come. I agree with you. Giving up a ton of yards can't be ignored just because you somehow ended up on the winning side of the scoreboard. I would also expect 2 more Toledo-like outcomes if the next 2 opponents somehow amassed over 1,000 yards of offensive production.
  17. Maybe that was a preview of how we're going to do the National Anthem this season? That would be cool.
  18. Dude, you're really going to argue this? You were the one who made a definitive statement that some action had no impact on anyone. And you want me to provide the proof?
  19. Ok, you didn't say "zero". You said "didn't add any new fans". Any difference? It's still a definitive statement, which is why I responded.
  20. I'm sure the new video screen will have unbelievable clarity, compared to the old one. In the past, that could have limited some of these other possible uses you mention.
  21. I'm sure Mr. Babby would be happy to hear your scientific finding of "zero new fans"
  22. If you think of some of the efforts that have cost us 10's of thousands of dollars, and done nothing to change fan interest, your idea might not be as crazy as you may have thought.
  23. That's exactly my point. They are going to have to be a little more creative. But as a basic premise, people who have otherwise been uninterested in Zips Basketball aren't going to become interested because they have a new scoreboard. We've been doing it in the Football Stadium for years. So, it's really nothing new. No, it wouldn't compete with Regal Cinema, because it would be free. I've seen a few other potential ideas posted too.
